Sets up extremely quick, packs back up quick, keeps the rain out and protects my gear. A great tent for sure!

love the compact and light design. Sets up very quickly and efficiently. Love the fine mesh screen and doors on each side. looking forward to using it soon on an overnight backpacking excursion in the adirondacks.

I love this tent! Recently took it out for the first time and it kept me dry though two thunderstorms: not a drop of water inside that I didn't bring in myself. Comfortable room for a 6 foot, 200 pounder and a 5-9, 140 pounder, with some gear at the head and feet. The vestibules are large enough for a 4200 cubic inch internal frame pack and a pair of boots each. All the zipper pulls and stake loops are made from reflective micro paracord, which I found to be very good for locating in the dark. I'm going to swap the provided guy-lines for some of the same, I like the idea so well. The stakes are standard aluminum J-type stakes and I may wind up swapping those for the groundhog stakes, but these worked fine. The internal pockets are pretty small and wont hold much more than a pocket knife and an LED headlamp, but if you keep things in stuff sacks like I do it's no big deal. My biggest concern, and it's not that big a concern, is that the doors zip down and roll up at the bottom: you have to be careful to keep the unzipped door inside the tent so it doesn't get dirt ground into it. The tent sets up and takes down easily, and the matching footprint is a good addition that doesn't add any complication to that process. Overall, this is a fairly light and very good 3-season backpacking tent.

I just returned from an overnight hike in the Ventana Wilderness. This tent fit two people with pads and sleeping bags with comfort! The people were 6'6" and 5'8". We did not put the fly on it as it is quite dry out there - went up like a breeze which was good because after hard hiking for 6-7 hours there was not much energy left to spare. We counted on that as I had not even practiced putting it up before leaving home. The double zipper feature is a must for getting up in the middle of the night. The little corner pockets are great for those must haves! The weight was excellent for a tent which slept 2. I am sold on this overnight wilderness camping now!!

molot0v Awesome, but one flaw.
I got this tent to be a roomy one-person tent, and a two-person if my fiance ever decides to leave the house. It's very spacious for me (5'10") without weighing a ton (something like 5 pounds with the footprint) and I can fit a whole bunch of gear and whatnot in there with me, though that's not necessary since the two vestibules have plenty of room for my pack and my boots. There is no gear loft inside the tent, however there is a very small loop hanging from the apex on which I clipped a carabiner flashlight to read at night. Zippers are smooth and only caught once or twice, but that was on the rain fly which has a very necessary flap. The tent did very well in the moderate amount of rain to which it has been subjected. This brings me to my only gripe: ventilation. There seems to be no ventilation near the top of the tent. The vestibules, when staked down, hover a few inches off the ground, which helps a bit, however there was still some condensation on the inside of the rainfly when I took it off in the morning. No catastrophic levels of water, but enough to notice.
That said, setup and takedown is quick and easy, stitching and taping seems to be top quality, and thus I couldn't be happier with this tent.
P.S. PROTIP - I removed the stakes and tent poles from the stuff sack and strapped those to the side of my pack. Doing so allows the sack (containing the tent and the fly only) to pack down to roughly the size of a volleyball.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DPW01 Great 2-man tent
I purchased this 2 man tent to accompany my son when he's out camping with the Boy Scouts. Set up was a breeze and the attached instructions (tyvek) were straightforward. Interior space would be very tight for 2, but with one there was ample room for gear without everything feeling like its on top of everything else. At 5'11'' I can sit up comfortably w/o hitting my head. However, the true test was right out of the box, 1st trip...2nd night out in Missouri we had severe thunderstorms and rain roll through during the night. 50+ knot gusts snapped poles on 2 other adults tents, but this one was locked down tight. Bone-dry throughout the night and just buffeted by those powerful gusts...rode through that storm like a champ. I'm very impressed.

: )
I am very pleased that I chose to go with the two person size for the extra space because this thing is ROOMY!
There are two entrances/exits for convenience and, of course, air flow.
The tent looks great, shipped fast, and did not disappoint.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for what I was because I found it in this product!
Thank you, LL Bean for continuing to provide us outdoor enthusiasts with quality gear we can count on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Norcalpyro95678 Light weight, keeps you dry and very well designed
Just took mine out for first backpacking trip. Setup on sandy beach so I could not use guy lines on rain fly or tent stakes. This self standing tent was the ticket. Night time temp was 35 and the rain fly was covered in dew but the inside of the tent was dry, not a single drip of condensation inside the tent. This is a great product but does feel very delicate with so much screen area. Highly recommend this tent, a great feature is being able to look up at the stars while laying down. Access from either side of the tent is excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EliotAdventurer Very Good All around Tent
This tent is a great all-around backpacking tent. Big enough for 2 (it's cozy), fairly lightweight, very weatherproof, quick to set-up, and packs pretty small. Good all around option for someone looking for a comfortable, sturdy shelter without adding a ton of extra weight.

The new version of the Microlight 2 is exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Having read some of the reviews that noted the lack of a gear loft or large/multiple pockets was not a negative for us. If you want amenities beyond what is necessary (and add ounces in the process), this is not the tent for you.
What you WILL find about this tent is that it is light-weight, livable for two, weather tight, packs small enough to fit in mid-size packs, has a relatively small foot-print, vestibules large enough to fit a pack and boots, and does this with excellent materials at a price point that's hard to beat.
We have used this tent in Northern Maine for a four day backpacking trip and were very pleased with it's performance and quality. We look forward to many more years of backpacking and kayak camping in this tent.
