I have been wearing the tropic weight pants from LL for years. I have been looking for a replacement since I refuse to wear cargo pants at age 60 and the elastic waist just looks silly. Makes me look 80 rather than 60. I am not crazy about the "low rise" style and the draw string is useless. The weight and fabric is great and the sizing is accurate. All in all very pleased. But please, bring back the tropic weight in conventional style!

Good spring and summer trousers. Lightweight and comfortable for sitting and walking. I cut off the waist strings inside.

Didn't care for material or styling. Extremely casual pant and the draw string serves no useful purpose. Front pants pockets were cut too much. Button hole was too tight to easily close pants. Material was light though.
It would be nice if LL Bean had a light weight casual pants classic styling that came in odd waist & inseam measurements with traditional waist. The old tropical weight pant was a start in that direction, but it has been discontinued and it needed to be in classic fit not natural fit. Also it should not wrinkle as bad as the old tropical weight pants. I'd buy plenty of this pant, if LL Bean would make it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by billyburgbuddy Good ...depending on what you get
I ordered several. All three were slightly but (importantly) different in waist and length. I kept the trimmest one which I had ordered slightly large given that there's no 31 waist or length. The fabric is light but fine woven and does wrinkle...but they're for summer and very casual ( yet smart) looking so that's a moot criticism. They have a 6 belt loops and deep back pockets which are useful to carry small extras in the heat. Also, they're made in India which is no drawback since they surely know how to make fabrics for intense heat ( think Madras).
I recommend them with the caution given that you may have to order several sizes to get a consistent fit. Also, the the dark color is darker and the light one lighter than what I saw on three different computer screens. A good value, and conservative but not stuffy for the upcoming and sometimes unbearable heat of the NE.

Rated 2 out of 5 by jsrs not a great style
My husband loves the OLD tropic weight pants. Now these come only in cargo style, which he doesn't want. We thought the featherweight pants might be similar. In fact, they are not good at all. Very baggy in the thighs, and a weird interior drawstring with no apparent purpose. PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL TROPIC-WEIGHT REGULAR PANTS!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by dred Good for Texas summer
I like wearing heavy jeans when it is cool weather. But summer in central Texas means shorts are more comfortable. At some age, shorts are no longer good if you care about frightening small children or teenagers with your white. skinny legs. Lightweight pants are what I need. These are good casual pants, but are not dress pants. They wrinkle. That's okay. I am a little wrinkled too.

These pants are perfect for summer casual days, and you want a little bit of sun protection without feeling too hot: The beach, playing baseball, generally being active where a more pressed look is not needed or even desirable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by CharlesXIII Feather weight pants, weak on stich strength
I recently purchased these pants at an LL Bean store as a light weight material to wear on airlines. The only time I wore them I noticed the seams on the thigh to be coming apart. This maybe acceptable if I was overweight but that's not the case. The stitching is not to standard. I am returning these as soon as possible.
