Love these boots. Perfect would of been a 7 narrow, but I ordered a 7 regular. The length is fine, the the width definately on the wide side. I then decided to buy these great sheepskin style long thick socks and I pair them up with either a thick winter sock or regular sock and they are snuggly and warm! So I figured I'll use these for winter (rain/mountains/just cold) and I will order a 7 narrow for late winter/spring etc...

Bought these as a dedicated hunting boot, but after half of last season and half of this season (between 50 to 60 times wearing them), it's time to replace them. The tread is insufficient, and any wet or muddy slope needs to be tread VERY carefully to avoid falling. Might be from the hem of my chaps rubbing on them, but the stitching at the heel and near the ball of the foot is failing and stitches have broken. These might be fine for walking across campus in the fall and spring, but are not up for any amount of serious hunting.

Rated 5 out of 5 Beautiful, functional boot
Overly pleased with my Maine Hunting Boot. These boots make me wish for nasty weather, so I will have an excuse to wear them. The ONLY thing I could find to complain about would be that they are not easy to get on/off. This is forgotten once they are on and laced. They are comfortable and good looking to boot!

I'm a size twelve but I ordered the eleven as suggested by another reviewer. Great fit after a few days of wearing them in. These are my favorite boots. I actually wear them most days for work because I have to cover a lot of ground everyday cruising timber and I very often have to cross bogs, swamps, etc. I liked the loggers I had before these but they could be heavy, and no matter how much I treated them with mink oil I'd have days with wet feet. I treated these boots with the snow seal that comes with them, and I apply some more every few months and my feet have yet to be wet, which makes for a much better day! I really liked that they sent some spare leather laces as well. I haven't had to replace the regular ones, but it's nice to know I've got an even tougher back up.

It took a long time to decide which pair of bean boots to order. I looked at several but kept going back to read about and admire the 100th Anniversary Maine Hunting Shoe, which--don't tell anyone--is really a boot. So that's the pair I bought.
I wear a 9 or 9 1/2, and was hesitant to order a size 9, but I'm glad I did. The boots have a bit of extra room if I wear thin or medium socks, but it's not an issue since the laces tighten up the ankle area very nicely. It doesn't affect walking or hiking. At first they were not easy to put on--designed with a tight ankle so they fit well--but they have loosened up a bit and are now easier to put on and remove.
I think the Maine Hunting Shoes have a more flexible sole that allows one to feel twigs on the forest floor before putting one's weight on them--to facilitate moving more quietly through natural areas. It works, but it's not so flexible to cause me to be careful what I step on. They are by far the most comfortable boots I've worn.
I use them for birding, which takes me to areas with standing water, soft soil, and downright sloppy mud. Walk through wet grass on the way back to the car, and they're clean. Not a problem thus far. On my last outing the grass wasn't wet enough to clean them, and no puddles of clear water were available. But vegetation knocked off the worst of the mud, and when I arrived home I wiped them with a damp paper towel, which made them look like new.
With thin or medium socks, they are comfortable enough for warmer weather and even indoors. And with thicker socks, they're of course warmer. In mid-winter with temperatures well below freezing or the muggy heat of summer I'll wear something else, but for the majority of the year, the 100th Anniversary Maine Hunting Shoes will be on my feet as I enjoy nature.
The reddish soles lend a classy look. I'm glad I bought them and am proud to own a reasonable replica of L.L. Bean's first boots.

I purchased a pair of these boots as soon as they were available and was very happy with them when they arrived. I got them for use not looks although they look very good and a tribute to Mr. Bean. I greased the uppers put the rawhide lacers in and wore them through two turkey seasons and a summer of constant wear. I love them the leather is soft but supportive and the boots are very comfortable. I slipped a pair of Beans shearling insoles in as the weather turned cooler. I just received my second pair as I am not sure if they are making any more after the boots run out. The leather gains character as they are worn and your feet will stay dry.

Not being sure what size to order I called. After reviewing I ordered a size 10 medium width. I wear a 101/2 to 11 shoe. They do run a little large. With wool sock they are a great fit. I thought they may need a break in period so I applied the snow seal and wore them to work. I was wrong. They were soft and comfortable right off. They are tall so long sox are required. The tounge goes all the way to the top and they need to be unlaced to get your foot past the ankle restriction. This shoe does have an insole but, they are not insulated so for cold climate use you wil need wool sox. They may be the next best thing to going bare foot and waterproof.

Good looking boot and comfortable fit, ordered per the fit instructions. Excellent craftsmanship and glad they are made in USA. I would recommend the speed lace eyes for $1.50 extra but the option is not noted on the product web page. I asked about them when I phoned into customer service, she had to get info from a product specialist and it turned out to be an available option. Excellent boot in snow during this midwest winter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Onertwonsthreets Why can't I wear these every day?
We bought these boots for casual use around the farm -- walking the property, fishing, and shooting. At the spur of the moment, we packed them for a trip to a large northeastern city when the weather forecast called for snow. We ended up wearing as we walked for miles on city streets in ice and snow. Our feet never got cold or ached, and the boots provided great traction. We never applied the Sno-Seal (we are slack), but the boots are quite waterproof. We've since used them on numerous occasions, including walks in excess of 10 miles. I'm a shoe person, and these are some of the best I've ever owned. Yes, it's tricky to slide your foot in initially, and, yes, they take a minute to lace. However, these inconveniences are minor when weighed against the comfort, quality, and craftsmanship of this shoes.

by Autumnspirit Love my new bean boots!!
I had wanted to buy the women's version of these boots, however they didn't have my size and when I contacted customer service, they said they were not likely to make more of the sold out sizes. So, I decided to purchase the men's version. I normally wear a women's size 9 shoe/boot (average width) and had to downsize to a size 7 in men's with the narrow width. The boot fits perfectly. I can wear them with my thick, SmartWool socks or thinner socks. I made sure to apply Sno-Seal to my boots that LL Bean supplied. These boots are so comfortable..I can wear them to work where I stand for 5-6 hours and my feet don't hurt. I do have to loosen the laces on the boots almost to the bottom in order to get my foot in and out, but it's not that big of a deal to me. All in all, I think this was a great purchase!! And I love that they are made in the USA!!!
