I ordered this duvet cover to go with our LLBean compas point pillow shams and matching striped blanket. I thought the pale blues, sand dollar theme might be the coastal look we were after. The color was dissapointing. The stripes reminded me more of a faded man's striped shirt. Perhaps the colors would be nice on sheets, but not so much for the finished look I am looking for. Either my monitor is a bit off or the color shown is off. I returned it. Sorry, I am still an LLBean fan, but this just didn't work for me.

10 years ago, I purchased a basic department store quilt for my bed, and it's been on there ever since because I could never find anything I liked better. This Sand Dollar Stripe comforter cover (and shams) have finally replaced my worn out old quilt.
I ordered the king size cover, and it arrived a few days ago. On opening the box, I noticed the colors were slightly more muted than pictured on the website, and actually make the pattern look better. The fabric is a nice heavy, thick cotton, soft enough to sleep under if you prefer, and strong enough to stand up to my cat jumping on and off the bed (unlike a recent dept store cover that didn't last.)
The cover itself is a generous size, and fits my large down alternative duvet wonderfully. Getting the duvet in was a simple matter of tying in the top corners using the attached ties (points to LL Bean, so many companies leave them out these days!) then shaking the cover down over the duvet. Tie in the bottom corners, button up the bottom, and it's ready to go! All told, it took me maybe 10 minutes to put on the bed, and that's because there are a lot of tiny buttons.
The blues and tans look wonderful against my boring beige apartment walls, and after seeing this in person I went right back online and ordered the blue sheets and pillow cases shown in the product photo because they look so nice (bluegrass sateen in the sheet section, FYI) and I can't wait to put the whole thing together.
My only complaint isn't really a complaint, but more a function of the heavy cotton: due to being cotton, and the tiny size of my apartment dryer, there is no way to wash this duvet without getting wrinkles. It just won't happen. The shams come out OK as long as they are removed PROMPTLY when the dryer is done, but the duvet cover is just too big to have enough space. Fortunately, I'm not too picky and I don't mind sleeping under a few minor wrinkles. They do appear to shake out a bit as the comforter settles, too.
Overall, a great cover and I smile every time I see it on my bed.
