Rated 5 out of 5 by Bster Excellent Jacket
I had an anorak like this from Bean's many years ago, and am very happy to see it return. It's very difficult to find anoraks, at least for women. The material is soft and the size is just right - I always wear a medium in Bean tops and this is the same. I can easily fit a lightweight fleece under it. Very comfortable and I love the style. Thank you for bringing it back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by dawsondawg still the best designed, most versatile jacket
I have been wearing these anoraks since college. And I graduated in the early 80s. Still a great product for casual or performance active wear.
Loose and boxy fit. Great if you are sturdily built or will be wearing layers under this coat. if you do not want a loose fit, order a size down. There is a nice waist cinching elastic draw string to give it some shape - or keep the snow out and the warmth in. Women's sizes are plenty roomy in the bust and hip. I have had the mens as well. if you want a color only offered in mens or womens, consider crossing over. The mens is a bit snugger int he hip vs. the bust and the sleeves a bit longer - but the boxy shape makes them almost unisex.
Hood is not too huge but fits over a hat and adjusts nicely. Sleeves long enough but not excessive and the cased elastic allows them to be pushed up on your forearms when needed.
Front pockets in the traditional style are the star of this garment. A deep secure zipper kangaroo pouch and a huge pass through hand warner pocket that also allows a pack waist belt of any size to go through.
not waterproof. And after a few years or constant use, not terribly water resistant without spray or wash in treatment.. I keep wishing there was a goretex version. But water resistant in a light mist and very soft hand to the fabric and its very quiet and packable. Quiet and soft enough to sleep in when camping in cold weather. Wears great! . I usually lose mine, or after several years in the sun the fabric fades, but I have never worn one out or had a zipper or seam fail..

Rated 5 out of 5 by Johnsoli Great Anorak
I love this anorak because it is lightweight, has lots of pockets, and fits great. It would not be my choice for rain gear, but provides a good outer layer for windy or cool days. I can easily fit a long sleeved t-shirt under it or lightweight fleece. Great job, L.L. Bean!

good fit, softer than I expected which is good. hood could cinch up a little better but overall I liked it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by shopsatll easy on and off
i am 5'2" and 118 lbs. and could have gone for the xsmall. however, the petite small will tolerate a light sweater in cooler weather. even with the driving rain today, it slipped off easily and most rain shook off. the cuffs are comfortable without being sloppy. the blue color is terrific, so thanks again,L.L.Bean for another great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kateroo Best Anorak Ever!
I bought this anorak in red, while I was in college. After wearing it for more than twenty years, it was finally time for a another one. I ordered a new one in a medium, and found it to be true to size. It is large enough to slip comfortably over a bulky sweater. It is also a perfect length. I am 5'7 and it falls just below my hips. This anorak looks great over a turtleneck and a pair of jeans. Every time I wear it, I receive compliments. This is a "go to" piece that is light weight, yet warm. It also condenses well, and takes up very little room my suitcase. I highly recommend the Mountain Classic Anorak because it is both functional and extremely cute!

Rated 5 out of 5 by TuppDawn Just what I was looking for
I have the Elderberry colored one and it is a pretty color, purple is my favorite color. I wanted somthing that I could layer for my daughters soccer games, walks at the beach or when you just needed a light layer. I normally wear either a large or extra large in tops and jackets and went with the large based on the other reviews saying that they ran big and I have room to fit a polar fleece under it and can move around freely. I love that I can leave my pocketbook in the truck and just grab what I need and securely put it in the large zipper pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by foxetown Happy it returned!
I have had one of these jackets for almost 20 years and other than looking well worn it is perfectly fine. I am so happy it became available again. The material feels slightly different than the original but other than that it looks like the exact same anorak I purchased many years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DryflyGrandma great jacket
I love this jacket. I bought a navy, 3X. I'm 5'8, large busted with long arms. The sleeves are long enough for me! We own a campground and tackle store in Missouri. This jacket is perfect for those days that it's raining off and on and a little cool. It's not too much jacket, it works well for our active lifestyle where we are in and out of doors all day long. It's flattering and is large enough to layer. I like the extra length - .It hits me at low hip. It seems that LLBean is often shaped for shorter, hippier women, but this fits me well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by heather38 The plus sizes run small on hips...
I LOVE this jacket. (2013) The fabric is fantastic. It's not noisy, it's thin enough to be perfect for spring or a cooler summer day, and it's just enough to add a little warmth in the fall if needed. I normally wear a size 20 in just about everything, and most of my weight is in my MIDDLE/Stomach section. I read several reviews that said it was "roomy" and had "long sleeves"...So, assuming it was "roomy", I ordered the 1x (18-20). It fits more like the 18. Unless maybe all your extra weight is in your rear end where the jacket doesn't touch, in which case the 1X is probably ok for you. But if you wear a good size 20 around the waist/hips...I'd say order the 2x. It fits great in the sleeve lenghth, I didn't notice anything unusual about that, like I'd read in the reviews. But the HIP circumfrence on the 1X is about an average size 18. I'm considering ordering another one in the 2x for now...maybe I'll lose some weight one day and won't be squeezing into the 1x!! ha ha. Hope this helps!!
