Rated 2 out of 5 by lifelongBean hidden comfort waist not so hidden
Sorry, these have to go back. They would look great, except for the way the waist works and the resulting styling.
Others may get comfort waist for ease of movement. If that is you, then I would give these a 5 star rating and recommend this purchase.
But I also get it so that the shorts/pants will fit well without being too tight (my regular size) or too loose (next size up). The problem is that though I need only a little expansion of the comfort waist, any amount of defeats the styling. The seams are designed as if there is no comfort waist, so any expansion of the waistband creates pulling and wrinkles in the side seams. Seems to be worse on the cropped pants than in the shorts, to my distress, since I so wanted a pair of stylish crop pants.
I hope Bean has not discontinued the pleated front and elastic waist styles. I couldn't find them in cropped pants. If this is supposed to replace those styles, I'll have to stop shopping at Bean!

The good part: excellent material: sturdy, wrinkle-free, feels nice, my legs look good (with a long top to cover strange pocket bulge).
These pockets are going to look like your pants don't fit right any time the 'hidden comfort waist' expands, because that immediately pulls the hip-area seams outward, ruining the line. Looks like a short-cut in design didn't work out. Should be good if the waist actually fits you well & doesn't need to expand #in which case the elastic isn't needed, but maybe comes in handy after eating too much?#
I am a plus size; bought petite as I often do at LLBean-- when reviews suggest pants too long. That made length perfect. Side view: pants taper in a straight line from rear to hem in this plus size. Looks kind of cool & flattering. But-- on me at least-- that 'look-good' taper at cuff means I can't raise leg high enough to get into a jeep without hiking pantleg up #as tho I were wearing a slim skirt#.
I'm guessing these look great on someone 'curvy' & no pooch.

The cropped pants fit and look okay while standing. However as another reviewer mentioned, when sitting the pockets pooch out and the white lining is VERY noticeable. This is not due to the expansion being expanded because these fit without expanding. If you needed the expansion the white lining may show while standing. The length looked longer on me than on the pictured model, just a little above the ankle. Make a new style with the comfort waist found on the twills (pockets lay flat while sitting) and a little shorter and I would be back for more. Definitely will not order more of this style and this pair may be returned.

While I can appreciate that some will enjoy the hidden waist added to the Bayside Twill line, I do not like it. Please return the original fit to this line of clothing with a plain waist.

I have pretty much "lived" in my LLBean cropped pants for the past ten summers here in coastal Texas! But this newer version does not fit the same way. The problem seems to be in the way the pockets are sewn in.- no matter which size I bought (I bought a 6p and exchanged it for an 8p), they pulled so much in the pocket area that the pants didn't "hang" at all. Will wear my old crops until I find a replacement.

These cropped Baysides are very comfortable due to the hidden comfort waist. They look fine when I'm standing, but when I sit the pockets gape open and the white pocket lining shows. I have to wear tops that cover the pockets. I'm keeping them to wear around the house and grocery shopping, etc. because they feel good, but they do look tacky when I sit down. It would be nice if LLBean used pocket fabric in a color that matched the pants instead of white. Another complaint I have is that the stone color is more warm than cool, more on the yellow side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SUshopper finally figured this out
I have finally realized by comparing the labels on all my hidden comfort bottoms, that it is the original fit hidden comfort that I like and not the classic fit. I just realized a short time ago that the fit of some of the pants drove me crazy and others I really liked.
I never realized that they were not all the same. This cleared up a lot of confusion on my part. The classic fit pockets tend to gap a bit because they are slightly fitted in the hips and thighs while the original are relaxed. Since I am "curvier", the original fit is way better. I can't believe it has taken me this long to figure this out.

Rated 2 out of 5 by flaveglady Please bring back the comfort waist crops
The fit on these crops is not designed for those of us with a pear shape. The comfort waist gaps when you sit, which is unattractive and it's too tight across the seat. Please bring back the comfort waist crop. More colors would be great too.

The comfort waist feature is important when I am ordering pants. It is especially important to me in the warmer months. In addition, the overall fit is what I want in either a casual or dress pant and these fit the bill perfectly. The fabric is wrinkle free and could have been work right out of the delivery package. I am very pleased and highly recommend these. Another good job from LL Bean!

The hidden waist defeats the purpose of adding elastic to these capris. It creates a gap when you sit down or do other movements that makes the waist stretch.
PLEASE go back to the hidden waist capri. That was a wonderful design for those of us with a slimmer waist than hips
