I used these boots for hiking this fall. The hikes I do are relatively challenging - loose rocks, jagged rocks, mud/after rain, after the leaves have fallen in late october in the northeast....you get the drift. Up until this year I wore my old running sneakers to hike and what a difference these boots made on my hikes! They have a great grip, they fit well and are supportive on the ankles to help keep from rolling an ankle. Stepping on jagged rocks was a breeze - barely felt them under my foot. I will say, they are clunky and I felt like my feet hit more things than usual, but I didn't trip over anything and I am comparing that to lightweight running sneakers. They are warm as well.
I am normally a 7.5 in shoes and wear an 8 in running sneakers, bought these in a 7.5 and they fit with a thick sock. Super thick sock may make them a bit snug but I still haven't worn them enough to stretch them out at all. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because they felt a tiny bit clunky compared to what I am comfortable wearing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by linzy NOT waterproof altho fit great!
I do a lotta hiking with my dog, and found the hikers very comfy in the d width. However, we've had a lot of dew and wet grass, and after a short distance my feet are completely wet! ( And no, it isn't with sweat.) I sent them back, and they nicely sent me another pair, but they did the same thing! My husband ordered the same shoe in the mens", and his feet were wet too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by mthro5pls1 I LOVE these shoes!
I was having more and more trouble finding comfortable shoes for short hikes, walking the dogs, running errands. As I had gotten older it was harder to find shoes that were comfortable esp in the toe area. These shoes are WONDERFUL! They're waterproof at least from dew and small puddles. (Haven't tried anything more drastic yet). My toes have plenty of room and I was able to take off in these shoes without any break in period. They were true to size

Rated 4 out of 5 by JenniNL Big fit
I ordered the 8..,,they are a whole size too big compared to Nike and New Balance. Too bad considering I am from Canada and I have to pay the shipping to return them. Other than that they are a sturdy shoe and I'm disappointed they don't fit.

This is the second pair that I have bought. I walk the dog about 4 miles per day and I find these shoes to be comfortable from day one. They are durable and fit my orthotic inserts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SFBeanShopper Great style!
Great looking shoe! I ordered the Sable/Lake color and really, really wanted these shoes to work. The size, support, and comfort were all great. Unfortunately, they were just too heavy for me, due to a some old ligament damage in both knees. Would love to see a similar style and color in a shoe that is about 25% lighter.

The shoes are a great fit but I was unprepared for how heavy they actually are. Plan to break them in well before we hike!

Rated 3 out of 5 by ThreeDogsRicher Wanted to love them but...
I loved the look, quality, and overall feel of these shoes. I have owned LL Bean hiking boots in the past which I loved. However, as others have stated, these rubbed just above my heels and were not comfortable. I returned them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Naturedeb Best Hikers Ever!!
I recently wore the Trail Model Hikers II on my trip to Ireland with my daughter. We hiked from 5-8 miles a day and my feet and legs felt great. No aches, no pain, just comfortable and enduring. Everyone should have a pair of these shoes.

Sturdy shoe with excellent support. I bought them to use so I could walk the dogs along the irrigation canals without slipping in the mud when it rains. They worked perfectly/
