I use this vest for bicycling and jogging. When it's above freezing but cool, I bike using the Primaloft vest. When it's freezing or below, I use LL Bean's 850 fill down vest. I just went for a 1 hour 20 minute jog in 40 degree F middling/light rain. I used the Primaloft vest under a Pearl Izumi Elite Barrier cycling jacket. At the end of the run, the jacket was soaked and so was the outside of the Primaloft vest. But the underneath side of the vest was pretty much dry--just some wet spots from perspiration. Pretty good! By the way, under the vest, I was wearing an LL Bean quarter zip fleece shirt on top of a thin polyester T shirt. I did not feel cold or uncomfortable at all during the jog. I covered my head with a Smartwool cap and LL Bean paddling hat.

I got this vest along with the wool vest that LL Bean sells. They're both terrific and I use them constantly now. I wear the wool vest to work over a long sleeve shirt and am comfortable throughout the day. When work is over I've been wearing the vest when out hiking in late fall in NH over a light fleece or polartec shirt and never wanted for a jacket. So light and comfortable. I'm looking forward to having this as my mid-layer addition for ski season. I know it will help keep me extra warm on those extra cold days.

I had a nylon insulated vest from the 70's. Great vest, down filled, worked. Now the rage is "performance fleece,"sorry doesn't really perform. I bought this vest along with bean's wool blend vest. This new paper thin, keep the cold out, keep the body heat in nylon vest is THE BOMB. Wool vest is still in the closet. I will never buy any other vest that isn't "Rip Stop Nylon With Primaloft One fill", again, (unless they come out with something superior). Oh yea, period!

I really like the look and material of this vest. However the sizing is not right for my body. I bought the tall XL. The length was great but it was way too bulky in the mid-section. I'm considering returning and trying a tall L instead.
Additionally I was disappointed there wasn't a pocket on the inside of the vest or a zip cord/string at the bottom of the vest to make it tighter on the bottom.

The Ascent Packaway Vest that I've worn for several weeks now was a good choice for me. It is very light but really knocks down the wind in front and back of me. The construction quality is excellent!

This is the best looking vest that i have, and i live in the mountains and have several.
The vest is thinner then a sweatshirt, but is very warm.
I dislike bulky outerwear items,as they limit movement.
This vest can be warn over a cold gear type shirt and you stay warm with a minimum thickness.
The vest can also be warn over a short sleeve shirt in warmer weather.

As soft and light as you can get and still get warmth. Great layer item for body core and neck. Allows for full freedom of movement.
