Rated 3 out of 5 by Geodog Great fit...quality a little lacking
I bought this jacket in yellow and daylily about 2 years apart. Both turned out to be "day-glo" in color. I like that I can get a well-fitted rain jacket in a 2X and the hood, long-enough sleeves and adjustable cuffs are very appreciated, but after a year you can expect the lining to flake off. They do a great job of keeping out the wind and will also keep out a drizzle, but I expect longer lasting weather-protection out of LL Bean products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MAScoutLeader Great Jacket for the first year
This jacket is great. It fits very nice, and it works well to keep out rain. I am a scout leader, and wear it year round (it is roomy enough to layer sweaters underneath as well). (I am a 2X woman, and the fit is really nice.) I ordered the blue, and it was exactly the color I expected.
Like a lot of other posts, the lining started to flake after a year. I kept wearing it when there was a little flaking, but now it leaves large chunks on my clothing, so I have to retire the jacket.
I bought the trail model rain pants at the same time, and they are not flaking. (I do wear them less often, but they are always packed along with the jacket.)
My son has the kids trail jacket, and we haven't noticed as much flaking.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Seattle85 I keep trying, but quality just isn't there
I just called to exchange my second Trail Model rain jacket. It's a great weight, style and fit, but this is the second year the lining has flaked apart. I live in Seattle so it definitely gets a lot of wear, but I'm exchanging it again in hopes this year things will be different. My expectations are low since it's happened twice now, but since this isn't the quality I've come to expect from LL Bean I'm hoping they prove things have been addressed with the next try!

Rated 1 out of 5 by Beantravelling Not LLBean quality
First, the good: it is lightweight and very packable. The color choices are good. It is water resistant, and waterproof (for the most part).
Now the not so good: as multiple others have noted, the waterproof lining begins to flake, and delaminate after 12 to 18 months. We bought two of these jackets over the last 4 years and the same thing happened to both. The construction materials are clearly inferior.
The LL Bean return policy is, as usual, excellent, but it would be better to have a quality jacket that lasts longer than a year and a half.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Travelingmomma Not Red - Hot Pink Berry
While it fit pretty well, other than being a bit too boxy for my liking, I couldn't get over the color. I guess I should have known by the name Barberry - but in my defense the photo online looked distinctly red so I took a chance. I can't describe it as anything but hot pink. Because I was looking for something a little more fitted I'm going to try another style - this time in black.

by disappointedandwet Lining won't last
I am a long time LLBean customer, and particularly appreciate the quality and durability of their products. This is a great, affordable rain jacket. It's light, looks good, breathes well, and keeps out the rain. Unfortunately, the inner lining of my jacket started to flake off after about a year. This started at the neck by the hood but spread to the armpits, wrists, inner elbows, and lower back. I have included pictures from when I first noticed the problem, which has since worsened making the jacket no longer completely waterproof. This product was inconsistent with my previous experiences with the LLBean brand. I had purchased this product particularly as opposed to similarly priced rain coats from other companies because of LLBean's better manufacturing quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Namio Not as advertised
First of all, I really do like this jacket but after putting it through all it's paces I am disappointed in a couple of things. I like that it is packable. I like that it is roomy for layering. It performs perfectly in a light rain. But it is not waterproof as advertised. I wore it in heavy rain yesterday and in no time at all, I was good and wet. Yes, the rain was heavy. But waterproof is supposed to be waterproof. Also, the lining has started to peel where the hood meets the neck so even if it really was waterproof, it would not be there. Disappointed because I really do like it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Ontariobonnie Sizes and quality changing...not for the better
For starters I must say you have the best return policy. My jacket, like many others, started peeling (lining). I called and they quickly shipped out a replacement and I just have to send my old one back and will get a refund. Now comes the problem, the new jacket I received is almost 2 inches smaller in width. Yes, I measured. I use this jacket for layering and am in a 3x. I measured against another popular brand and this jacket is barely bigger then their xl. Your sizes are shrinking and I thought the quality of this jacket would have improved. At this price point I would expect better zipper and the old under arm vents. Time to move on to another brand. I am going to keep my old peeling one because at least it's broken in and fits. Shipping back the new one. Super disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SoggyNorthwesterner Lining flakes off!
I purchased this jacket as a replacement for one that the lining had flaked off. Was told the problem had been resolved with the newest model. Guess not. Barely a year after I purchased it, the lining is once again flaking off!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Akcourtney So Far Great!
When I purchased this jacket I read some of the reviews and was a little concerned about having some problems with it; so far so good. I have had the raincoat for about a month.
I'm outside with our farm animals and a lot of times the weather is really bad and the jacket has held up well keeping me dry. We also do a lot of fishing and I needed something that would keep the water off me on the rainy days on the lake. I like that it has a lot of pockets allowing me to keep things dry like my wallet keys phone. This jacket runs large, so if you don't plan on layering with warmer clothing, then buy a size down.
