I chose size Pet. Medium and white as the colour. I am 5 feet 2"and slight in build... I wished to be visible so hence the white..it is light weight, well made and the sleeves are cinched at the wrist I like that..
It does block the winds here which have begun with coldish weather already...there are deep pockets' with zippers for my personal items. I am most pleased with this jacket and everything about it...I do not care for heavy-weighted jackets etc. as they weigh me down and hinder me from my activities...This jacket fills the bill alright and thank you L.L.Bean once again!!

by MidwestSkiBum Great little pullover!
Pulled it on, today, over a very thin base layer and went for a walk in 36 degree weather, slight breeze, overcast and damp. I WAS NOT COLD, ever. Blocked the wind and kept me very comfortable. I'm very impressed. I usually wear the base layer, a fleece, and a wind proof softshell. It keeps me warm, but I overheat, too.
Very light weight.
My only issue-- a little more room across the shoulders/back.
Can wait to try it on a run.
I'm 5'9", 160#, pear shape.
Gun metal-- great color!

So wish to love this jacket. I have been looking for something light and easy to wear this seems to fit the bill. But when I tried it on, I looked like a little girl borrowing mommy's cloth. Sleeves are way too long and baggy, I could have fit two arms in one. I bought the star white, but it has a dark grey lining on the inside, since the jacket is so thin, it shows through, that is a little weird. Any other darker colors may not have this issue. The trim material they used on the sleeve cuffs is not the same as the rest of the jacket, so I can already see the trouble of cleaning them and ending up with a forever dirty look. My biggest issue, believe it or not, I didn't understand all the rave about it being so warm, it is not warm enough for me, and I live in Dallas TX.
Disappointed, will return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by klof Too big and plain
This pullover is so warm and comfy that I could hardly resist it. But the colors are not appealing--black and a murky white. And it is so big! I ordered a petite small. I am 5'2", 116 lbs. I would not mind it being a bit loose, but it is boxy and very big and not offered in an XSm. Disappointed.

I have had this jacket for nearly a year, and I find it is perfect all eyars round! In the summer I take it camping and sailing, in the fall it comes hiking wih me, and in the winter it is my layering for sking and snowshoing. It is incredibly warm and lightweight, and the petite sizes are perfectly proportioned for short people like me. I have the vest and the full zip jacket too - wear them all all the time! After a year of heavy wear, itstill looks new.

I recently reviewed this product and said the only thing missing was the interior pocket for phone/ipod, and the hole for the cord to go thru, and I was wrong. It has both, I totally missed it. I also have full zip version, its a must have item!

Rated 5 out of 5 by DaisyDuke444 Excellent Perfect Jacket!!!!
I needed a jacket to keep me a bit warmer while running. I had purchased a jacket on sale from their website and it didnt work out for me. I went in to the store to return that jacket and found this Ascent jacket. I tried it on and knew instantly it was perfect for me.
I did buy the Medium size, and found it was true to size. I normally am a med in LLBeans tops, if not a small in some things if they run big.
This jacket is so incredibly lightweight but yet warm. I didn't want a heavy coat to weigh me down and this jacket is like wearing air LOL! I love that it zips all the way up so I can keep the drafts out of my neck.
Another thing I was looking for was a jacket that tightens around the waist so I dont get air up my back. This jacket has a rip cord in the bottom so you can cinch the jacket as tight as you need around your waist.
Also the jacket folds up into the nice big roomy pockets so you can toss it in your tote bag if your traveling. And it is offered in a nice assortment of colors too.
I love the jacket so much that I purchased the 3/4 zip Ascent pullover in white I found in the store. AND my friend bought the white Pullover too. You wont be sorry buying this jacket. Perfect for Spring, Fall, and even winter if you layer it with a nice sweater underneath. Thats the other thing, the jacket is roomy you can layer comfortably.
The only thing the jacket is missing is a small inside pocket for phone/Ipod and the hole for earphones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CustomerLLB Delightful jacket
I was pleasantly surprised by this jacket, and it has quickly become my favorite. I mostly wear it to run errands, but I also like it for wearing around the house when it's chilly. It feels delightfully weightless, but is extremely warm, without making me feel overheated. I was afraid it would feel uncomfortably slick and sticky, but it doesn't. I am 5'6" and 120lbs., and the small is roomy on me, but I like it this way because it allows me to move freely (carrying things, walking dogs, etc.), and it allows me to wear multiple layers underneath if I want to. It is so compact and compressible that I can also wear it underneath a heavy coat when it is extremely cold out. Because it is so thin, I think it is fairly flattering for an insulated jacket - it doesn't seem to add as much visual weight as other Primaloft-type jackets do. I have the blue color, which is fairly shiny-looking, but I like the color. I just bought the zippered version in gunmetal gray, which is not nearly as shiny-looking.

The Assent Packaway Pullover is exceptional! I am not a mountain climber, but I do walk the Maine beaches in winter even in high wind and very cold weather. This pullover has been exceptional in both wind and cold weather, alone when in the 30's and under a jacket in the 10 degrees range.
Its lightweight warmth is so very welcome! No bulk, just warmth. I love this garment!

The Ascent pullover is an excellent addition to everyone's wardrobe. It is light weight and perfect for layering under a jacket or it can be worn by itself on those days when layering is not necessary. The fit is true to size, roomy but not sloppy. The smoke gray is a tasteful color. The pullover is well made. This pullover is a "classic."
