Rated 2 out of 5 by Tanina Flimsy and doubtful breathability
I was desperate to replace a beloved Gortex raincoat bought a long time ago that has kept me dry for many years, in all seasons including summer, thanks to the breathability of its mesh lining. I was keen to receive the Trail Model Raincoat coat to replace this valuable piece. Unfortunately, the Tail Model is nowhere near what I expected. I do not want the plastic-like lining anywhere near my skin during a summer hike; it will definitely make me perspire, as others have reviewed. Furthermore, the mesh pockets feel too flimsy to keep any weight in them without tearing. I am returning the coat and my search continues. Maybe I will try the H2OFF coat, if it is light enough...at double the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by sierravista Best coat for Iceland, Ireland, etc!
I purchased this coat for a recent trip to Iceland, and I am so glad I did!
This coat saved me many times during my 6 day trip in Iceland. It was great - I stood in waterfalls, withstood wind gusts of 40-50 miles per hour, snow squalls, and beautiful, cool, sunny days as well. Another great feature: it packs down to almost nothing if you roll it up. I placed it rolled up in my tote for the international flight.
I told several other people to purchase this coat before the Iceland trip. We all bought the Trail Model Raincoat - and all of us were so happy we did!
Thank you LL Bean for a terrific product at a reasonable price!!! Can you make it other colors? I would get another one if it came in more color choices!!!
Love this coat!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Curlysue529 Trail Model Raincoat
I received this as a gift as an "extra" raincoat to leave in my car. I loved the concept as it was lightweight, kept me dry and was a good length. I lost weight and it was too large; tried to replace the french blue/periwinkle but have never seen it again. Please bring that pretty color back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by suki99 So far...so good.
Just received this today in the mail. It's a perfect jacket for our trip where I might need a lightweight rain jacket. Blue color is great. Zipper was difficult to "get going." Bottom zipper will be good to unzip when sitting down otherwise it would be too tight. I ordered a small based on the size chart. I will be wearing a sweatshirt underneath for warmth. I have very narrow shoulders and the medium would have been way too bulky across the shoulder and chest areas. I wish it had a slight flair to it from the waist down for extra roominess in that area. Also cannot fold the jacket into the pouch as shown on display page. It's way too small. That is one reason why I chose this rain jacket for travel. Can someone help me out with this please. Has anyone ever completed this task?? Thank you. Am looking forward to wearing this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mapreader travels well and protects
This fits comfortably over a sweater and blazer jacket, Besides being waterproof and comfortable, the dual zipper permits you to zip up from the bottom, making it more comfortable when sitting down. The length and color are good. I am pleased with the size, pockets, high collar. It is a good accessory for travel since it can protect in several climates with layering.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DanskerK Just what I needed Except for...
The fabric, the length, the color, all lovely BUT, sadly and annoyingly, I anticipate needing to send this back within the year because of a broken zipper just waiting to happen! The zipper toggle at the bottom of the closing is nowhere near as sturdy as is needed for the length (which is perfect) of this coat: the closing mechanism should have been snaps or a really big toothed zipper. Size wise: I am 5'3" & 126lbs so followed others advice and bought a small: too small with a bulky sweater under. Petite medium was just perfect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by macadamiz change not for the better
This jacket is a less expensive but almost the same design of the jacket I bought 5 years ago. Mine needed replacing and I really liked it so I was delighted to see it still for sale. Well, it was not as good (material, extras) as my old one but customer Service found the more expensive one this was almost exactly like my old one. But, sad to say, the sophisticated light tan, go with everything, was replaced by a Khaki color, definitely not dressy. And, although I bought the same size, that size was way to small - skimpy in the width at the bottom, the sleeves and the chest. And, the smooth fabric was now stiff. It's nice that you are able to keep you same prices but the product quality and fit is not the same. Overall, I decided not to buy it even in a larger size because of the fabric and color. I appreciate the help from Customer Service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OregonSunshine Good look, performance and value
I like this raincoat a lot. I purchased it last fall in the blue, medium. I am 5'6". The sleeves are just right - they hit below the wrist, so they cover up the tops of my gloves. The hem hits just at the knees. The coat is stylish and light enough to take on vacation - packs well. The Pacific Northwest has had a very wet winter. I have worn this coat through heavy blowing rain on my dog's 1-2 mile walks 2 x day, and it has kept me dry. The coat is good enough as a windbreaker; however, it is unlined, so when the temperature drops, I layer a down jacket under it. The hood is large enough for a knit cap, if needed, and the drawstring on the hood adjusts easily. The two outside pockets are deep and placed so I can put my gloved hands in to keep them dry. I wish there was an inner pocket for keys and phone, but for $89 I am not complaining.

Rated 2 out of 5 by JAR12 disappointing product
I purchased this raincoat a little over a year ago. Was happy to have a long coat for walking the dogs in the rain. It's been a disappointing purchase, however. The zipper has never worked correctly. This is the most difficult coat to zipper and un-zipper that I've ever had. It doesn't breathe well, either. It also seems as if it's losing its waterproof qualities, even though I've never washed it and have not had it for long. Finally, I'm noticing, as others have, that the lining is starting to peel off in the hood. I agree with others -- not up to LL Bean standards.

Rated 2 out of 5 by raesf liked it before it fell apart
had this coat for maybe 2 years and wore it a dozen times before the inner white coating began flaking and peeling off everywhere, particularly the sleeves and hood. never abused it, never even washed it.
i liked it while it lasted, even though it isn't particularly stylish. it's a shell and fairly roomy so i could layer my light down underneath when it was cold. while it worked, it worked well, but i think it should've lasted longer.
i am trying the fleece lined one next.
