I travel on a lot of weekend getaways. I had a similar LLBean bag, but it has seen better days. This is the perfect bag. It has a lot of storage, great for 2-4 day weekend trips. It fits perfectly in most airplane overhead bins, even some regional jets. It is a softer side bag (more so than others) making it a bit more flexible for the bins. I have also checked this bag a few times, each time there are no scuff marks, I find this especially impressive, especially knowing how well bagage handlers treat your luggage. I got it monogramed, makes a black roller bag easier to identify and you don't have to worry about an id ribbon falling off.
Cons: the side pockets are a bit small and hard to get things into and out of, my previous version could hold a pair of flip flops.

I love the bag,it is light and rolls beautifully. I holds a lot of clothes etc. especially with all the side pockets. I bought the tarragon and the color is beautiful, But it shows every mark and looks awful, very dirty.I wish I had picked a darker color.
The next bag will be a dark color, but the bag is really terrific.

My daughter has this bag and loves it! It's the perfect size for her - holds just the right amount for a few days - and has a great laptop pocket which she loves.
The only problem she's had is that the whole suitcase wobbles like crazy when she wheels it on a tilt (in other words - she holds the handle and tilts the bag onto only the back wheels to pull it behind her). When she wheels it on all 4 wheels next to her it doesn't wobble. She lives in NY city and wheeling it upright next to her when going to and from the train is really tough.
We are trying to decide if it's a problem with all of this style luggage - or a defect with just hers. If a defect with hers - we'll exchange it. If it's just how they all roll - she'll live with it as she loves the rest of the bag too much to give it up.

My 8 year old daugther used this bag as her carry on for our trip to Europe. It held all her items she needed on the plane and fit easily under the seat in front of her.
Her sister liked it so much that I am now ordering a second one.

I travel frequently for business and this is the perfect size for one and two night trips. However, I travel with a brief case (LL Bean Sportsman) and when you loop the bag over the handle the top of this bag is sloped slightly forward. This causes the briefcase to lean away from the handle. The bag becomes very prone to tipping forward...not something you want in any situation, especially if your briefcase (the thing that hits the floor the hardest) does a face plant. I believe the narrowness of the base (front to back) adds to the tipsiness with the briefcase in place. It was unusable for me because of this fact.
HOWEVER, if you don't travel a lot on business and you don't ever hook another bag on the handle, then this is a GREAT bag and well worth the price.

This is a nice bag, but it doesn't meet my needs. Too much space is taken up with the laptop slot and other pockets. There is very little space in the main compartment. I hoped to have space for a few changes of clothing. I take my Ipad when I travel, so don't need the laptop pocket. This may work for the business traveler. I will go back to the simple bag from LLbean that I bought in 2000. It has one large compartment and some flat pockets on the outside.

I bought the luggage set 2 years ago when it first came out. I love that it is soft-sided! I fly 4-5 times per year, and the fabric has yet to even scratch. While there are a few scuff marks from the treatment it receives from the airlines, I would say for 2-year-old luggage, it is in excellent condition! The wheels and handle do get stuck when you overpack the bag, but what luggage doesn't? And in my last flight, one of the zipper pulls broke, but the zipper is still functional. I highly recommend this luggage!

When I used it for the first time. the bag's handle was not strong enough and lost its extension ability before I reached my second flight of day 1. Perhaps there was a defect to explain that. Secondly I am 5"11 and the handle when fully extended is not long enough. This made it awkward for me to use since there was discomfort rolling it with other bags. I am a long time customer at LLBean and was disappointed because I am virtually always happy with purchases. I have both the rolling duffles, which are great; and the rolling sportsman's luggage which also has worked extremely well.

I visited my sister near Freeport and swapped a black Samsonite bag for the Medium sized tarragon bag. I loved the bag, could get everything in, but it does get dirty, as several folks said. I would like to see LL Bean's suggestions for cleaning the black grime off of the light colors (I tried a natural hand soap, then laundry spot cleaner without complete success, hubby suggests Simple Green, which I haven't tried yet). What to do? Other than that, it is well made, sturdy, nice bag.

I replaced an older LLBean luggage set with this set and although I love the color, Tarragon, it is now filthy from being checked on airlines. It doesn't wipe clean so immediately after the first flight it was no longer an attractive piece. The wheels lock up on carpet and I find myself dragging the bag. Overall, I'm really disappointed with the set and wouldn't buy it again.
