Easy to assemble - a great bike for city and gravel road riding.

This is one tuff super off and on road bike. Very EZ to put together. Just read and assemble. This bike is for my wife. 5'10" 120#. She has long legs so we got the Large for her. Disc brakes are so smooth and the gearing is flawless. This is a well built on and off the road bike. I have ridden it on pavement and it rides smooth with little resistance like my road bike. Buy this bike. You will not be sorry. The phone help is awesome too.

This bike has all the right stuff to keep me on the toughest trails. Traction and control are precise and predictable. The shock really dampens the dips and shifting is sure and definite. My confidence level is sky-high with this ground-pounding machine!

Somewhat disappointed in this bike. First, why does LL Bean not sell kickstands for this bike? Secondly, other than a water bottle, it is very difficult to attach a light and other incidentals to the bike (small pouch for carrying tube repair kit, wrench, etc) and there is no place to put a cable lock.
Other than that, the bike works fine so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jerrold Great value for a lightweight, durable trail bike
Very easy to assemble, just attach the handlebar, front wheel, and pedals & you are ready to go! Cables are all attached & adjusted. I ride this on both a rough dirt road and a paved bike path in rural Maine, and this is much better than the last one that got trashed. The tires aren't too knobby, so rolling resistance on pavement is minimal for a trail bike, yet the tires are wide enough to accomodate a stone-filled dirt road - especially with the 29 inch tires which give a smooth ride. This is a true nature lovers bike as the rear hub & derailleur are virtually silent, allowing you to approach wildlife without alarming them. Rear derailleur is well constructed to be easily repaired in case of an unforseen accident like I had on my last bike. Very smart looking ride. Front shock absobers work very well. The gear range is excellent; the low gear has lots of torque to get up steep hills & the top end will really get you moving on flat stretches and down hills.

Love this bike! Feels really fast...the last bike I bought was in 1992-LL Bean "Approach'-it was also a great bike, but is showing it's age now. So, I upgraded to the 29er, and I am really glad I did.

Easy to assemble, instructions were good but could have been made better with clearer pictures.
First ride did 10 miles with hills to get a feel for the gears, shifting was smooth and quick even going up a steep slope.

I've had this bike only about two weeks and so far I love it. I'm new to mountain biking but it seems to be able to Handel the trails near my home very well. The only thing I might change in the future is the tires, they could be more aggressive, the get clogged up with mud and slip a bit on loose material. Other than that no problems so far.

There is an inter-urban trail running through my hood that goes to my work place. That is why I bought the 29er. The bike is easy to assemble, adjust, shift and ride. I have been riding the bike to work a few times a week and realy enjoy the ride on this bike.
