Rated 4 out of 5 by mrl89 Kept my face bug bite free!
I bought this on a whim as I was heading to New Zealand and looking to spend my $10 credit coupon. I was expecting bugs to be a problem so thought this might be a useful accessory. I ended up cutting the scarf into four strips (per a review I had read online) as the sandflies were eating me alive and I was trying to protect my ankles as well as my neck. The strips around my ankles were less effective than the scarf around my neck. While my legs and arms had many bites, my face remained bite-free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Starshine2 Nice bandana
I ordered this bandana to wear with the red striped French sailor's shirt and they look very spiffy together. It is a nice light blue. So far, I have not encountered any real bugs (although the designer went wild with an insect print in the middle of the scarf fabric). The label nicely explains that what makes it bugproof is permethrin, which I googled and found out that it is commonly used and is poorly absorbed by the skin. Good. The chemical is however highly toxic to cats and will kill fish, so don't plan to use it as a neckscarf for Kitty or to mop out the inside of your fish tank. On a more serious note, the scarf is a nice size and the fabric has a nice "feel." I anticipate that it will be a nice comfort item for this spring and summer's outdoor activities.

I bought two of these bandanas for my husband since he was spending some time near the Everglades in Florida. The mosquitos down there are atrocious--much more aggressive than our northerners. He wore his bandana while grilling in the evening and found that the mosquitos were repelled.
These will come in handy for the early morning walks in the summer, too!

Bugsaway products are very effective at keeping insects at bay. I have numerous articles of Bugsaway clothing and they are essential for working in, and enjoying, the outdoors most of the year where I live (Florida). The bandanas are great to tie around your neck to prevent tiny beasts from crawling down into your shirt or to tie around your head to keep annoying flying bugs away. I swear by Bugsaway clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by loritraveler Great product for outdoors - anywhere
I just returned in May, 2012 from a safari in Kenya and Tanzania, Africa. I had two of the scarves with me, as did several others on the trip. They were life-savers when we would hit areas with lots and lots of tetse flies. Although told that the flies in that area were not the disease carrying kind, they delivered very painful bites - sort of like horse flies. I wore a scarf around my neck everyday on the game drives and sometime pulled it up over my face. One person ripped one of her scarves into several pieces and tied the pieced around her ankles as well. The flies seemed to love white socks, and would bite through your clothing. The scarves certainly worked well to keep the insects away from my face and neck. I applied deet everywhere else. I had only one of the insect repellant treated t-shirts with me, but am ordering another today for a trip later to Central America and Costa Rica.

I had this tied around my neck on my last hike and got no bites around my neck despite the swarming black flies and mosquitos.

Was dubious, but tried it on a few local hikes, and the bugs were visible, they just did not bother me or my dog...I did find the bandanna too bulky around my neck, or on my head...so I used the sewing machine to make it into 2 triangles, one for dog, one for me. Seems to still work just fine!

Rated 4 out of 5 by TrakerGirl No ticks, worked VERY well
I usually don't review items, but I was at Tracker School last week in the NJ Pine Barrens, and I was terrified of getting lyme disease. I bought he pants, hat, shirt and socks, and while everyone else was pulling off ticks right and left, I found zero, zippo ticks, and I checked twice a day. Scarf was a little bulky, maybe could have been a bit longer, but not uncomfortable. Fantastic products

The insect pattern of this kerchief is cute but it didn't repel bugs...in fact, it seemed to attract bugs! Also - when knotted at the neck it isn't overly comfortable, while not tight, I would have preferred a little more material.

Nice accessory..works like a charm
Minimizes need for DEET or similar products...doesn't eliminate it but does work well to minimize
