I bought a medium based on the reviews. I normally wear a small. Even with a substantial underlayer--wool underwear--they were too large. I returned them and because the season is almost over, I didn't exchange. Next year I will look for some Sporthill cross country skiwear. I hope the sizing runs true to LL Bean clothing next year.

While XL pants in many styles from LLBean are the basis of my every day wardrobe, these rain pants were too small. They would not go over my hips. It was very disappointing as I needed them for an upcoming trip to Oregon where the rain and cold are pretty much a daily event.

The Sporthill Symmetry ll Pants are great for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and running. The fit is comfortable, maybe a bit generous in the width of the legs for this petite person (5'2", 105 lb) but the Small Petite works fine. I am happy with the length. I will race in these.

Tought this was supposed to be warmer and heavier, for winter weather, but these pants were flimsier than I expected. Felt more like a rain barrier. Length and waist also smaller than expected.

I bought these for my mother as a gift and had to try them on myself before I purchased them. The fit was fabulous and the length was perfect. They looked great, not too baggy. The pants feel soft against your skin. She loves them and I'll be getting a pair for myself!

I liked the light weight of the pants and the pockets, but the fit was awful. I usually easily wear a medium in LLBean pants, but ordered a large (planning to wear a layer beneath) and they were too small! They were small in the waist, which is not my problem area, as well as small in the hips. Disappointed.
