I wear a size 6.5 in sneakers and decided to order a size 6 skates based on other reviewers' comments. They are pretty comfortable for the most part compared to rental skates. However, compared to my previous pair of Jackson figure skates, these are on wide side (I have normal width feet) and feel a bit bulky on my feet. I am not a great skater by any means but I am also not a beginner. Not sure if it's because they need "breaking in", but I felt a bit clumsy wearing them for the first time.15 min into my skating, I switched to a pair of rental skates and was able to skate like my old self. Of course, those rental skates didn't last more than 10 min before my ankles started hurting and had to switch back to these LL Bean skates. That's why I always like having my own skates. Just wish these skates weren't as bulky.

I bought these skates because I have bunions and regular rental figure and hockey skates for women hurt my feet. I wear a 6.5, so I wanted to try these skates in the 6 and the 7. The 7 is sold out for the season, but it turned out that the 6 is actually the right size for me. The toe box is wide enough to accommodate my bunions, and the length is perfect. I have worn them once so far, with thin synthetic socks and bunion pads. (I'm sure I could wear them with medium weight socks, too.) I did not have any pain. I also bought the skate bag, which is very handy for toting the skates around and looks nice, too.

I am normally a shoe size 8.5 and originally ordered a size up as suggested on the website (was in a rush to get a sale price and stupidly didn't read the other reviews). I was swimming in the 9s, so returned them and re-ordered the size 8. The 8s are also extremely roomy in the toe box. I have at least a thumb-width of space in front of my big toe, and plenty of width for my very wide feet to slide around in across the front. I took out the insole from the size 8 skate and it exactly matched the insole of a women's size 9.5 Asics running shoe. I do not want the hassle of another return so I may tighten them as much as I can and try these out on the ice before going back to the store. If you are going to try these I'd order both a half size down and another size down from that in the first place, and keep the fit you like best. It would have saved me a lot of effort in the long run. I think they may have put the men's sizes on the women's skates here. It would have been great to try them on in the store and save all this shipping and returning, but the stores no longer carry skates. Three stars are for poor sizing, no comment on performance as I haven't yet tried them out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Beek7 Very comfortable but didn't work for me
These skates are extremely comfortable. Unfortunately, I ordered a size up and they were way too big. The fastening system was harder to get snug than laces, and therefore I got very little ankle support. I am returning them, but would recommend them for their comfort.

I wanted these skates to enjoy lake skating here in upstate New York. What a wonderful replacement for my figure skates. The temperature has been in the teens and below, and my toes have not been cold, and they are so easy to put on and still get a supportive fit. I had to adjust to hockey skate blades after a lifetime of figure skate blades, but for lake skating this is the way to go. Unlike other reviewers, I found ordering a half-size up is a perfect fit with winter-weight socks, and I have easy-to-fit feet.

I haven't been on ice skates in 6 years. Since my child just learned to skate last year, we decided this would be a great family activity during our cold winters. I was hesitant at first to spend the money on skates for myself, but so glad I did. I wanted hockey skates vs figure skates as I feel that you get more support in a hockey skate, but I didn't want a man's skate. Low and behold I went with the LL Bean skates. I put them on this past weekend and they were fantastic. Great fit (I take a 7.5 shoe) and I ordered the size 7 skate. Perfect. They were so comfortable and stylish (vs. a man's skate) and a little girl at the ice rink told me she "liked my skates" reaffirming my decision to buy these skates! I would highly recommend these. At first, I didn't know if I wanted the bag, but for a little extra $, I bought it and the skates fit perfectly. Overall: Great fit, nice quality product, highly recommend. Only suggestion is for the company to offer more colors (women like options)..

Rated 5 out of 5 by Watersprite2 Comfortable skates, great fit!
These skates fit like a comfortable, insulated sneaker! They are quick and easy to put on and take off. Have them sharpened when you get them. They run just a little big, I take a 7 shoe, but have a slightly wide, hard to fit foot. A size 7 skate is comfortable for me with a thick sock. Perfect for skating on the slightly irregular ice on the lake in our town. I just have to get used to hockey vs. figure skates but have enjoyed using them already.

I found these skates very comfortable. I have a somewhat wide foot and there was lots of room in the toe. The "ratchet" tightening system is easy to use. Much more comfortable than my old traditional skates!

I wanted a warm, comfortable hockey skate that goes on quickly and easily, and these fit the bill. I am not actually going to play hockey in them, so I can't evaluate them on those terms. I bought them to learn how to skate on hockey skates after decades of using figure skates, and so far they are working out well. I wear a women's 8.5 shoe and the 8 skate fits a little big. Size down, not up!

These skates were very narrow. I was glad to see a buckle on them, but I do not think that the laces would stand up over time. They are very thin. I like my Comfort Figure Skates, but I returned these skates immediately. One skate had a dent in it that poked into my daughter's toe. They looked as if they came from a second hand store; they did not look as if they were new. Not worth the hefty price tag.
