Rated 5 out of 5 by MaineCoast PERFECT flannel shirt!
They never fade, never shrink, and NEVER NEED IRONING. (I have six)
Light enough to wear indoors, over a polo or tee - better than a sweatshirt indoors. Wear it when you're cool, take it off when you get warm. Over a polo or tee, you automatically have either short or long sleeves . . . perfect for those of us who are always too hot or too cold!
PERFECT flannel shirt!!!

I bought a large (am a medium) for Summer layer. Its light weight and breezy fabric is good for all occasions. The color and the stitches also feel very nice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Hikemaster SOFT & GORGEOUS COLORS!
Plaid shirts in a soft fabric, flattering and slimming fit, beautiful colors, practical roll up sleeves, and longer length are nonexistent outside of L.L.Bean (unless you make them yourself).
I bought this in 5 colors: Camel, Dark Green, Turquoise, Red, and Berry. My favorites are the camel and the dark green.
I wear them nearly every day after work (and sometimes Fridays to work to teach in since they can be dressed up with a jacket over the top). I really like the dark green one under the yellow wool riding jacket I bought at LLBean last year. Perfect for freezing Ohio wind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by canadianshopper55 Great for spring
I bought this in the deep rose colour and it's lovely. Yes it's light and yes you may need to touch it up with an iron, but the fabric feels great. I would have preferred a med. but had to settle for a large- a little big but not to the point of looking sloppy- good layering piece.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Darkstar99 not really Flannel
I have two of these shirts and like the style and sizing but they are lightweight and not what I consider to be "Flannel".

I was disappointed when I received this shirt from LLBean. I usually like the quality of the things I buy there.
This shirt was described as being flannel. I am 70 years old, worn alot of flannel in my day,and I have never seen flannel that looks and feels like this. The material is very thin, and I can imagine it being sleazy after washing. In no way would it ever be warm. I am sending it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by CouchAdventurer flannel?
I would call this 100% cotton. It's lightweight, fits well and I won't return it since I could also use plain cotton. However, I was disappointed that LLBean's Description was misleading. I even looked up flannel in the dictionary and this isn't it. It it has no wool or nap and it isn't warm or cuddly. It is a great weight for summer and it is a nice cotton. Those are different advantages which are useful to me. But, this experience makes it harder for me to use mail order and rely on descriptions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OfficialPreppyAlumna Super soft!!
This shirt is super, super soft; it's very comfortable, and the arm buttons make it versatile for seasonal transitions. The tartan is classic, yet muted and not harsh. I purchased an XL to allow for extra room in the bust, and although it's big on me, I'm okay with that, as I wanted to comfortably wear another shirt underneath in cooler weather.

Love, love, love this shirt, it feels soft and wonderful and the fitting is perfect. It looks sharp and I use it from early spring to late fall.
Did I say I love IT?

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeanintheNorth so comfortable, but runs big
I ordered two of these shirts and the colour and material are lovely. I am very pleased with the quality and the cut is very flattering. These shirts are built to be lived in!
However, I ordered large and that was a mistake... I need medium & I've done an exchange. I am 5'6" (with long arms) and I weigh about 140lbs. If that sounds similar to yourself, make sure not to over-estimate the size you'll need. I ordered big thinking slouchy, comfy, weekendy, maybe-something-underneathy... but LL Bean was way ahead of me on those thoughts! Even with a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath, the large was way too big.
As other reviewers have mentioned, these are not flannel in the traditional, grandfatherly sense. The material is very, very soft and is certainly flannel, but a thin sort of flannel, which actually makes this a year-rounder... at least up here in Canada! If there are more colours, I'll be ordering again, because the shades are flattering, the cut is lovely and the quality is true-to-Bean! (More blues and greens, please! And perhaps an apricot?)
