I don't hunt. I bought these just for style and LOVE THEM (I got the blue ones). I wear a 7.5, and ordered the 6 to wear with light socks and their a perfect fit. Others have commented that the laces are too short. I find them to be a bit long. I laced the boots all the way up, with both sides of eyelets touching, and have 12" of lace hanging down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MoorsRambler Aesthetically beautiful!
The first thing to say is that the Hunting Boots are quite beautiful. Not having previous experience with waxed canvas (and though I loved the appearance of the boots straight of) I did query Customer Service regarding the appearance of some scuffs. Vintage, they absolutely are. I am a solid size 6, and as the smallest size available in all LLBean Women's Boots is 6, it is the size I have invariably purchased. I also own the Special Edition 10" and the Padded Collar 6", and I will use the known factors from these that are shared by the Hunting Boots to make comments (as the weather hasn't reached the condition that would merit wearing these new boots yet). 1) The attached tongues to the shafts in the 10" and 8" are very effective in keeping water from entering the boots, and so I expect the same with the 16". 2) All 3 pairs are larger than the standard size 6, but with thick SmartWool socks my feet have been very comfortable in them. Once I did get blisters while wearing the 10" but that was because I was wearing thinner wool socks, and my feet were loose within the boots. Thus, I think the key is to wear thick, or thicker socks to make a better fit. 3) I have not had any difficulty getting any of the 3 pairs on, even with the attached tongues. My calves are about 12-1/2", and the shafts of the 16" boots are comfortably and pleasantly slouchy. I am 5'2" in height and the boots are about 1-1/2" below my knees. 4) Not having worn the 16" in the elements I cannot comment on the waterproofing, but if they are like the other LLBean Boots I have every confidence that they will keep my feet dry. And having tried casually walking around in the 16" I can attest to the excellent traction. 5) I take an annual holiday in the UK and love to ramble in the countryside. I have worn both the 10" and 6" on these rambles (in both dry and wet conditions) and have found them extremely comfortable. I have also worn them in cities because even though the boots are very functional and practical, I think they are also chic and unique looking in a rustic and casual way. I do not hunt, and intend to wear the 16" in an urban environment. I look forward to being able to express my mood of the day by choosing to lace just beyond the ankles, or midway up the shafts, or all the way to the top - these are the marvelous options allowed by the 14 eyelets, something not being possible with boots with zippers. 6) And not least, I appreciate the fact that these lovely boots are hand-sewn, one by one. There are many beautiful boots available out there, but LLBean Boots will always be unique and special because of the care put into the making of them by the artisans there.

I absolutely love the boots, but wanted to comment more on the customer service. I looked online for these boots & ended up calling customer service to find a couple pairs. I ended up buying one pair in one size online, & another pair in a different size from the store in Massachusetts over the phone. Staff in the MA store was very helpful. I ended up returning one of the pairs, & Bean customer service was extremely helpful, pleasant, & polite throughout the whole ordering & returning process. I heard on the news that LL Bean was especially busy this winter & had hired more staff & started a 3rd shift to fill orders. And all the while, everyone I spoke to was awesome!!! Thank you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by bhow Bring back the quick lace feature
The only thing I do not like in these boots is that they no longer have the quick lace feature in Bean Boots. I have no issues with "hot legs" or cold feet. When my husband saw what I was wearing he told me my feet would be cold and legs too warm. I will say I have different feet meaning, I rarely need insulated boots. When deer hunting, I can sit a long time because my feet do not get cold with insulated rubber boots, just very hot. These bean boots are comfortable, true to size and eye catching. I can see women looking at them and can pretty much tell they are thinking they wish they had the nerve to wear them on a day to day basis. They are super for wet muddy days, when the legs get splashed up I just wipe them down with a damp rag. It does take time to lace them up and get them off, but I love them. Due to my dress style I should have purchased a darker color ... oh well.

I had been eyeing these boots for a while but never took the plunge to buy them until it was too late. I had a coupon for $20 off which made the price much more obtainable, but when I went to purchase the marsh brown color in a size 9, they were already sold out. I chatted with someone over the online chat service who told me they would not restock until after the new year but to keep checking the website periodically incase some became available, which is exactly what I did. Everyday (haha.) Finally a size 9 became available in the black and brown color, which was not my first choice, but I did enjoy a lot. They came in the mail yesterday and they are awesome! They fit my wider calves beautifully, but can be tightened for regular sized calves. Unfortunately though, the 9s are a bit too big. I went back to look today and a size 8 in the marsh brown color became available. I immediately started a chat with a customer service representative (her name was Melissa and she was very helpful) who said she'd be happy to send the size 8 marsh brown boots to me with a free return shipping label so I can send the size 9 boots back! I'm so thrilled. If you are thinking about purchasing these and you see them in your size... DO IT. don't wait! they WILL sell out and they are worth it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by LadieQuin They Runs Big & Fits my 15 1/2 inch Calfs
They Run Big...
I normally were a 8/12 9 on everything from tennis shoes to heels but in these I can actually fit a 7 or 8 with thick socks.
I also have a 15 1/2 inch calf circumference the boots goes all the way up and ties just short of two knots.. Over all I get a lot of looks :)and when there gracious compliments.

Rated 5 out of 5 by turtleflier Great Boots; great fit, great weight
They're so much fun to wear. I've paired them with skinny jeans, leggings and skirts. Not too heavy; even in Louisiana I've been able to wear them already.
The only thing that would have made them even better would have been if the grey/black combo hadn't been sold out when I went to buy mine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ashevillian Not what I was hoping for
I really really wanted to love these boots, but back to Freeport they go. Sizing was good, as described, but the "waxed" appearance looked like scuffs and wear & tear to me, I didn't like that look.
While the calves are very generous, the laces weren't. I ran out of lace before I reached the topmost 2 eyelets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LMS1 Wonderful tall boots
These boots are wonderful. I was worried when I got them that they would be too long on me (I am 5'2"/62 inches/157.48 centimeters) but the come comfortably below my knee. They are a bit of a hassle to lace up and then unlace to take off, but they do not feel restrictive the way other rain boots do, and I was easily able to move in them. I would highly suggest these boots.

Rated 4 out of 5 by luluson love but a little snug
I haven't had a chance to use them in the snow or rain yet but I think they will be fine and hopefully warm. I love them on but are kinda a pain to get off you feet because you really have to loosen the laces a lot. I have wide feet and the left foot is a little snug in spots.
