Rated 2 out of 5áby LittleBear42 Ascent jacket
Purchased to replace the Trail model which leaked rain earound the zipper hood and flaked off the ceramic liner. The Ascent has arms too long by far, no inner cargo pockets, and chest pockets too small. The side zip pockets are also too small and the adjustment cords catch on everything put in there. I ended up returning both and putting my trust in the new Trail model.

Gortex jackets are expensive, so this jacket was well priced especially as I bought on sale...
The fit is a bit long and snug.. so not a lot of room for layering. The sleeves to shoulder part is also snug so certain movement restictions..
Lots of pockets.. and an unique feel to the Gortex.
I would be disappointed at the regular price but its Gortex, has a hood, pit-zips and many pockets.. An ideal cycling jacket for early spring!

Rated 5 out of 5áby LittleBill Great Value: Cheapest Gore-Tex Pro out there
Independent reviewers of outdoor gear have recognized this jacket as a great value even at full retail: competing with other Gore-Tex Pro jackets in the $400-600 range. (Pro is Gore Tex's top-of-the-line waterproof/breathable fabric). At these sale prices, an amazing bargain! You can't find anything comparable at anywhere near these prices.
If you're looking for a raincoat to keep you dry under the worst conditions without spending hundreds more, this is your coat!

Been wearing this skiing for the last few weeks (5-10 days), some backcountry, mostly lift served. Temps ranging from 0 F to 30's. For a 6'2" ~190lb person the large fits pretty well with some room for layering. Zippers are a bit stiff. Simple design, has kept the elements out well so far while not getting too stuffy inside. Hood fits well over helmet and has necessary adjustments for when there is no helmet.

Rated 4 out of 5áby ThePostman Sizing ?
Own other top-of-the-line shells from Bean from past years and have to say that this one definitely runs a little small. The X-large fits more like a large. With my thickest fleece on, was just able to pull the zipper together to close it. Bottom hem an inch or so shorter than I'm used to also. Otherwise........good bang for the buck.

Rated 5 out of 5áby chefml highest quality and features
Very happy with build quality and features of jacket. The nicest fitting hardshell jacket I have owned. The fit is not boxy like many shells on the market and yet not too athletic in the fit. It falls right in between and offers a waist cinch and 3 point hood adjustments that allow you to dial in the fit further. I really like the new gore tex pro shell material that is being used this year. It is not super stiff, it falls somewhere between a softshell and hardshell in feel with some elasticity. The length of this jacket is perfect as well. It falls below the waist which really cannot be seen in the photos. i chose this jacket after being dissapointed with 3 other high end brands with prices nearly double of the ascent jacket. This jacket can also be used as a four season jacket. The weight is perfect and is not that heavy and stiff garbage bag feeling of other gore pro shells on the market. I would highly recommend this hardshell jacket from ll bean.

Bought my jacket over 2 years ago and it's still one of my favorite jackets to wear. The quality is top of the line and it falls into place perfectly providing a nice slimming look.
The interior material is kind of clingy so putting something on with long sleeves can tend to ride the shirt on underneath but I've gotten use to putting it on. This years Accent Jacket appears to maybe have a new material on the inside so maybe it is easier to put on, I'll have to stop by the store to take a look.
Overall, I have been one happy customer which is all anyone can hope for when purchasing a jacket at this price point!

I've never seen better quality. I wore it today and forgot I was wearing it. The jacket moves with you. I would recommend it to anyone. I feel very comfortable safe wearing this jacket.

I must admit, I was more than pleased with this jacket. It fits true to size and the goretex fabic is amazing - I'm sure I'll never get wet. Really nice product and worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5áby paddler62 great jacket
I am very pleased with the quality of this jacket. I purchased it several days ago and have not used it yet but it has all of the features of comparable but much higher priced jackets offered by other outdoor clothing manufacturers. The cut is good for layering and it is long enough to fully cover even though I am 6'2" I looked at the Bean Packaway jacket which would be good for light use or where weight is the primary consideration but for extended trips where cold rain is likely and weight is not an overriding consideration, like northern river extended canoe trips, the Ascent is a better choice. The waterproof zippers seem top notch. The jacket could be improved even more if it had neoprene cuffs on the arms as some jackets have.
