Rated 5 out of 5 by Scooners Super sharp looking jacket...
This is really a sharp looking jacket...I had a hard time deciding between the green and blue, but ultimately chose the green just because it is so different. It is nice and warm and not too bulky. Wow. What a find and for sale on top of that! LOVE IT! I will be wearing this one for years...
I'm 5'7' 1/2" 120 lbs and I purchased an XS regular.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jbcscot Great Jacket!
Purchased this jacket last year and was worried that I would still be cold because I can't seem to find many coats that are really warm (to me). I have worn this in snowstorm hikes and out on very cold days with wind chills and I was comfortable, warm, and thanking LL Bean for a jacket that was all I hoped for-also liked the longer back, & removable hood. Sale price was a bonus.

I purchased this jacket in both the Dark Royal Blue/Dark Navy and the Beechnut/River Moss. Both jacket colors looked amazing. The green was vibrant and brought life to this drab Cleveland winter. The blue was rich and practical. I had a hard time deciding which color jacket to keep/return. But since I needed something for everyday, I kept the blue jacket, since it was deeper in color. Had I needed a jacket that would take less abuse, I don't know which I would have kept as both were so visually appealing. I wish I could have kept them both!
I have had double zippers before (from a different manufacturer) and decided never to purchase a jacket with a double zipper again. But this zipper is very well constructed. I know that I need to be careful with the zip process and find that this one has never been a problem. It hooks easily and zips smoothly. I like that there is a flap with velcro that hides/protects the zipper. There are many pockets to tuck items away into. Even on cold blistery Cleveland winter days, this jacket kept me warm and toasty. The inner cuffs keep the wind from blowing up the sleeves and having velcro to tighten/loosen the cuffs at the wrist area is a great feature. The collar fits snuggly beneath my chin to prevent wind from blowing inside the front of the jacket. The hood stayed up without tightening it and did not blow off when I got caught in a wind/snow storm as I finished my daily walk.
The style is flattering and I like that it comes just long enough in the back to protect, but short enough to sit down in the car easily. I have received many compliments on this jacket and would definitely recommend it. So far, there is not one feature about this jacket that I do not like.
I am 5'7" and weigh 160. The large gave me some extra room for maneuverability and wearing anything bulky. The medium fit me perfectly. I kept the large.

I ordered this jacket in both a small and x-small. Both were far too short. Many of LL Beans women's small and x-small clothing items tend to run short. It would seem that LL Bean thinks that when someone wears a size small or x-small that they must also be short! I loved the color (blue) and style?too bad I had to return both of them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Jerseybean Truly Warmest & Functional
Have another storm jacket that works fine when really cold and blustery, but bought this Stormfield for REALLY frigid,gale-force windy days. Boy did it prove it's worth when snowshoeing recently in Lake Placid where temps dipped below -10 w/windchills of -25! Sleeves run a bit long, but for long-armed, tall persons like myself that was great. Plus who wants any skin exposed in that kind of weather?
Bazillion useful stash pockets, strong velcro closured sleeves. Non-choking stand up, warm collar, more than sufficient coverage of easy drawstring hood w/good visor which can be cinched not to set too low over forehead. Drawstring bottom.
Only 'minor' negative is material does make a bit of noise. But not a factor when snowshoeing in howling winds. Can't hear much else but that anyway. :) Pretty coat, too. I purchased the lime-green w/white accents. Would highly recommend this as best warmth alternative to down for those of us who prefer non-animal-based filled clothing. I can wear either a small or medium in jackets. Small fit fine in store, but opted for medium w/a bit more freedom of movement in exchange for possibly better, slimmer fit of the small. Extra roominess of medium jacket doesn't impede carrying backpack or feel too bulky either. Just super warm & comfy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by GCBohl Gorgeous!!
I just received my Snowfield Jacket today and I absolutely love it!!! I ordered the size Large and it fits perfectly I am 5'2" and 178lbs. I ordered the Dark Blue color and it is gorgeous. The design is very flattering. The sleeves are just the right length for me and the bottom of the jacket falls at the hip. I love the soft cuffs on the inside of the sleeves and also the soft fabric by my neck. It is light weight yet keeps me very warm. I ordered this online and it was a fantastic experience. L.L.Bean has the best customer service I have ever had the pleasure to work with. The woman who helped me with my order was a sweetheart and took the time to answer all my questions and help me pick out the perfect jacket. She was polite, funny, and the conversation/ordering experience made my day!
*I love this jacket and the only improvement that I could see is to maybe add 1 to 1 1/2 inches to the bottom of the jacket. For women, if we have a little extra pouch on the bottom, a little longer length is great camouflage. :)

This jacket keeps me warm in weather with below 20 degrees wind chill temps.
It's too warm while active in temps above 25 degrees.
My recommendation: pit vents.
I'm having issues with the zipper. It is difficult to fit the tab in the slot properly. This seems to be an issue with two-way zippers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by WinterWeather Nice and Toasty
I bought this coat just a week ago and so far it has been great! First of all, it only took two days to arrive so kudos to L.L. Bean. The weather here has been pretty cold (around 20 degrees Fahrenheit) daily, and there have been days where we made it into the single digits. Good news: the coat is very toasty! Its outer shell repels snow, water, and sleet very well and it is also very resistant to wind. I bought the coat in the wisteria color, and I wasn't sure about the color but it's grown on me. The jacket has a bunch of cute little pockets that are useful, and the pockets are also very warm. I have never had a coat with a fleece collar, and I didn't realize that I was missing out! Very nice. I'm about 5'1 and 120 lbs so I ordered a medium because I like extra room. I definitely got that room, so if you're a person that likes a more form-fitting jacket I would order a smaller size. That extra room makes layering with a fleece or sweater very easy. The sleeves are a tiny bit long but that's no big deal, I ordered big so I expected that. The overall length of the jacket is probably 5 inches below the hips in the front, and long enough in the back to cover your pant waistband. Probably wouldn't be great if you did a lot of skiing or sledding and you were on the lift, but for everyday wear or a bit of hiking it serves its purpose.
All of that being said, the jacket isn't perfect (although what is?). My biggest complaint would be that the fleece insleeve is kind of short, which means that the cuff (which is rather stiff) often will rub against your wrists. This might not bother other people, but it's one of my pet peeves. It isn't too bad, however, because the cuffs are adjustable so you can easily put on a long pair of gloves. The fleece insleeve still provides a nice insulation barrier even if it does run on the short side. The only other real complaint I have would be that the hood is kind of short! When the snow is really pelting or the wind is really blowing, you must hold onto your hood to keep it from falling down. It also really only covers the top of your head, stopping around the crownline so your face is exposed to the weather. I suppose you could pull it tighter but that's not too comfy.
Overall, I like this jacket and plan to keep it. The good definitely outweighs the not-so-good, which is why I gave it 4 stars. It will keep you nice and toasty and looks much more fashionable in person. Hope this review helps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by LLlover31 Extreme winter
Due to this winters extreme conditions and random storms I chose to purchase something much warmer than my usual wool coat. I live in NY and travel to places like Pittsburg and Boston a lot so this coat has proven very useful to me. I bought this jacket (pink) in a large and I actually have a bit of room in it when originally I thought I might need an x-large because of my larger bust size. It is very warm. I stay dry and feel no air coming through anywhere as well as it is functional. I have a place for everything with my pockets and they are very deep. Even my side pockets for my hands are warm which was a pleasant surprise. This jacket is also very light weight so it is not a hassle to carry or wear. I am a satisfied customer and will be making this store my new winter clothing destination for shopping.

I am liking this jacket - the shorter length, yet sleeves are long enough. I did exchange the L for a M (am 5'7", 135 lbs). I also have a LL Bean North Ridge Jacket,(love that one also) which is longer and can pick and choose now depending on what the day requires. I am short-waisted so the shorter jacket works for me. Seems to be just as warm, fits well. Love the way the ski jackets fit, not as bulky as some winter coats - wear them all the time!!. (note - I don't ski, but am outdoors daily) LL Bean is like a good friend - I always find what I need (and want) here. Thanks LL
