Located in
the north woods of Maine, adjacent to the Appalachian Trail, Katahdin Iron Works was
built in 1843 and operated until 1890, when advances in steel manufacturing made it
obsolete. At its peak, the Iron Works produced 18 to 20 tons of pig iron a day and
employed 400 men just to cut the 20,000 cords of wood needed to fire the blast
furnace.
Inspired by these hardworking Mainers, we designed our Katahdin Iron Works line of rugged work clothes to stand up to all kinds of rough use. Today, visitors to the site can view the historic blast furnace and one of the original charcoal kilns, silent reminders of a time when fires burned nonstop amid a thriving community of Maine workers. Rugged, water-repellant working man's pants with a soft flannel lining
- Super water-repellant Nor'easter cotton breathes well so you stay dry and comfortable

Designed for comfort and utility, these pants are made of heavy-duty Nor'easter cotton canvas with an incredibly water-repellant finish that protects you from rain or snow. Plus, unlike other water-repellant fabrics, Nor'easter cotton maintains the natural feel of cotton and it doesn't trap moisture and heat next to your skin. It breathes well so you won't overheat. Lined with soft flannel for added warmth. Double-knee reinforcement ensures you these pants can withstand your toughest jobs. Durable triple-needle stitching and bar-tacking at stress points ensure years of wear. Handy hammer loop. Utility pockets are sized to fit a multitool or cell phone. The comfortable gusseted crotch provides freedom of movement. Substantial belt loops fit belts up to 13/4" wide. Feature 18" leg openings to fit over boots and a double layer of fabric at back of cuff for added durability. Machine wash and dry. Imported
