Rated 4 out of 5 by JerseyGal A good all-purpose coat
I enjoy this coat for its versatility whether dressing up or just doing errands. I agree with other reviewers that the armhole openings are a bit too high; lowering them would give a better fit, but I can live with it. Not bad enough to return it. It is warm, the lining is so smooth, the details are impressive (love the nautical buttons), and I am pleased with my royal plum color choice. If the cut could be improved I could give it 5 stars.

I challenge LLBean to have this coat next year is light pink or light mauve for those of us who are cancer survivors. I think you will be surprised how many you sell.

I love this coat! It is classic and warm. The thinsulate lining makes it my go to coat this winter. The sizing is great. I ordered the 10 (I tend to be 8-10 on top, 10-12 bottom) and it fits great with a bit of room. I ordered the navy because it reminded me of the coat my brother had in the 70's. Only con is mind your pets around the dark colors. It can pick up their hair really quick :)

I was disappointed to have to return this pea coat due to the armholes being so high resulting in a poor fit. I had read the reviews before ordering it and had read that was a problem other buyers had found as well but other reviewers were happy with their purchase so I gave it a try. It is a beautiful coat but it just did not work for me.

Happy with the fit, impressed with the material, love its toasty warmth.
I didn't experience any of the fit issues noted by other reviewers. Ordered my regular LL Bean petite size and had enough room to wear a heavy sweater comfortably underneath.
The wool is super soft, comfortable, and warm without being too thick nor bulky. I ordered the Stone color and found it to be very versatile. It can either be dressed up or down.
So far this is one of my favorite LL Bean purchases.

My husband gave this to me for Christmas in navy, and I love it. The Thinsulate lining makes it very warm, and the fit is just right. I'm 5'2" and about 130 lbs. I got it in 10P, and it's just right for layering, or a little loose for no or light layers. The wool is soft, densely woven, and a very nice quality. The pockets are roomy, and the sleeve tabs are a nice touch.

I ordered this coat with every intent of returning it if I was not satisfied. I just received it yesterday and I can't find enough reasons to put it on. I love it !!!! The quality and fit are superb. Plus, the added Thinsulate is an added bonus for a dress coat. Thank you LL Bean for making this coat. It's fashionable, well made, and very warm. I commend LL Bean for continuing to make high quality products and standing behind them with their money back guarantee.

Rated 4 out of 5 by SPARTYrocks Beautiful quality, cut didn't work
Lovely quality construction. This didn't work for me due to the cut...the bottom of the coat seemed a size larger than the top portion. I looked goofy in it. Also, the coat was a bit uncomfortable under the arms...too much material for me. This would work great for many body types, I'm sure, but on this 5' 3" gal, it didn't. I got the petite 12, my normal ll size.

This coat deserves superlatives. I didn't expect to be this impressed with the quality of the materials, construction, the perfectly classic styling (thank you, LL Bean, for NOT 'updating' this enduring classic or adding 'feminine details'. My husband loves this coat on me, which makes me like it even more!
When I saw it on a daily markdown, I decided to give it a try, even though I was skeptical of both color choices still available in a size that MIGHT fit me. I would have preferred navy, or even a deep blue-green, eg spruce.
I ordered the Stone, which is attractive and tastefully understated, although it's not practical for walking an exuberant dog who didn't ace obedience training.
Sizewise, I've been having trouble finding consistent fit in LL Bean the last few years, as I've gained weight, not evenly all over, but concentrated in the wrong places due to age and lots of stress. My "old" size is now often too snug in the hip, but if I size up, sometimes it works out OK, but often just looks way too big almost everywhere. I have never been a fan of slim-cut, body-conscious styles, even when slender, so when I think something looks too big in most places, it means most people would think it sloppily or ridiculously oversized.
Women who like a very trim fit or have a straighter boyish figure might prefer to size down in this coat.
At this heavier weight, I've been having the best luck in Bean with tops in a M or 12 and bottoms in a L or 14.
When this coat was on the Daily Markdown, the largest size left was a 12. I expected the hip to be too tight, but I decided to try it.
The 12 fits nicely, with warm winter clothes underneath. It is not tight in the hip.
Looks classic, and sharp. It is also warm without feeling heavy, and blocks the wind very well.
This handsome, beautifully made coat is a good value at full price, an excellent value at the post-Christmas sale price, and practically a steal on a daily markdown.
