by lunamiela Great bed for large dogs!
This is our third llbean bed and we've found a winner! Our dog loves the bumpers in this bed. She snuggles up against them and also hangs her head on them. The fleece cover is perfect for our cold climate. We bought an extra large bed and our 150 pound dog can be comfortably sprawled on this bed. Not too many beds accommodate dogs that size comfortably! Pricey but worth it!

by karenlc LOVE this dog bed
My dogs and cats love this bed. I ordered the extra large so it would be big enough for both my dogs. It is large and a perfect size for my 2 big dogs. Even the house rabbit likes it!
It is nice looking and I get a lot of compliments on it from visiting friends. (It does look like a piece of living room furniture.) It is strong and has held up to our menagerie.

by jlk4r Great dog bed for a dog that likes to snuggle
I have to applaud other LL Bean customers on this one - very accurate reviews, so the bed is exactly as I expected. My 60-lb German Shorthaired Pointer loves this bed and since he tends to curl up into a very small dog ball, a medium size bed still has plenty of space. The bed was extremely easy to assemble (and does come with instructions!), but 4 stars only because I agree with other reviewers that the bottom cushion seems very thin and lumpy. Nothing that can't be solved by putting in a foam square or another blanket, but could definitely be improved upon.

by tdm3038 To get 5 stars, base needs more cushion/firmness
I purchased the size large rather than the extra-large, and this bed still had plenty of room for my 120-lb Great Pyrenees. I love the beauty of this dog bed. I love the security of the bolsters, which are nice and firm. My dogs appear to love this dog bed also.
My only complaint about this bed is that the base of it does not have nearly enough stuffing--and I mean seriously lacking. I added a sponge foam mattress topper that I cut to fit the bottom.
The original sage denim twill cover I had was chewed on one of the bolster arms by a foster dog that I had. So I replaced it with the blue denim fleece cover. I provided a picture of both.
I am eternally grateful for the replacement covers. I do feel the bed and the covers need a lower price. I have to put that out there because this is not a 5-star item. And believe me, I love L.L.Bean because of their quality and durability. But you guys can improve on this one. Thank you for your anticipated improvement on a dog bed I otherwise think is fantastic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ZoeLucy NO INSTRUCTIONS!!!!!!!
As most have stated, this is a high quality product as you would expect. Now you might say, why instructions to put a dog bed together ? Well after you have thought that LL Bean has sent a wrong sized bolster and you have finally found the internal zippers and ripped your hands to shreds on the internal zippers trying to get the bolsters in correctly you too will ask where are the instructions to make this easy ?
There were NO INSTRUCTIONS with the parts !!!!!!!
And as stated, the cover comes off easily for washing. But then you have to put it back together. Better send it to the Chairman of LL Bean and ask him to assemble it for you.
Oh, and if it was just put together in the first place and folded once it could have been shipped in a box half the size of the one in which it arrived.
In spite of the about "concerns" it is still a fine product, not made in America.

This bed will last for Willow's lifetime! She has gone through 2 store bought beds already in the few short years we have had her, but these materials and construction will last. I did use the recomended sizing guide for ordering, but found it was a bit too big for her, so I exchanged for 1 size down. If your dog likes to curl up and be cozy, you may want to double check the actual measurements carefully.

Toby loves his new bed!! Went right over and climbed in when we first got it. He sleeps in it alot. The size medium is perfect for our welsh terrier! This bed is made very well, definately worth the price, we have gone through a number of others over the past 4 years, hopefully; this one will last many years. The cover zips off, which will be nice to keep nice and clean. Thanks again, LLBean for a great product!!

Our old lab loved it. Four stars only because he struggled to get up onto it because of arthritis. But once he's up, he looks so comfy and happy! Totally worth it.

This bed is extremely well made. I wish I had bought this 6 beds ago. I would have saved myself a lot of money. I bought two. One for each level of my house. I own both the therapeutic and regular premier dog bolster beds. My dog seems to prefer the therapeutic one. It is much firmer but he will sleep on both.
I also bought the LL Bean pet blankets to put on them. Instead of washing the beds often I wash the blankets weekly. They are also very well made! Yes, the beds are a bit pricey but not if they last the life of your pet....which I believe they will.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ChicagoJoan Great Cover, So-so Insert, Sizing is HUGE!
I have now purchased three of these beds for our Golden/Poodle mix and I have three items to address: the cover, the cushion and the sizing. 1. The cover on this bed is fabulous. The fleece is soft, the denim/canvas is rugged but not scratchy, the bolsters are very comfortable for my dog to rest his head on and keep an eye on what's going on in the room. Also, THE INSERT IS VERY EASY TO PUT IN! The reviewers who state otherwise have not followed the directions! I have now put three of these beds together and though I had my son's help with the extra large bed, none took more than 15 minutes to assemble. There was NO ISSUE with the zippers not working properly. READ THE DIRECTIONS FOR INSERTION and I promise you'll be fine! 2. The bed cushion is NOT as thick and durable as I expected for the expense of this bed. Thus, my 4-star rating. After 11 months, I feel the floor right through the cushion when I push down on it. I have another bed with the therapeutic memory foam cushion and it is fantastic. I just ordered that insert for this bed too. With the already high cost of this bed, I recommend going ahead and ordering the memory foam cushion to make it truly worth the investment. Your dog will be more comfortable and though you're spending even more money, you will not be disappointed in the mattress. 3. The sizing can be tough to figure out! Our Goldendoodle is 65 pounds and long-legged, standing 35" at the crown of his head. I mention this so you will picture the appropriate size bed for your dog. First, I bought the EXTRA LARGE, thinking he would need it to spread out. This bed is HUGE! No kidding, my 13 and 10 year old daughters stretched out full-length in this bed together. YIKES! It is also VERY VERY roomy for our dog. I finally took it up to our cottage to get it out from under-foot here at home. I seriously think only Great Danes, Mastiffs or St. Bernards need this size bed. I also bought the LARGE bed. This is also quite roomy for our 65 pounder and allows him to stretch out comfortably with plenty of room for his long legs. He sleeps in this every night, but even the large was too much in the way for our kitchen where we spend so much of our day. SO, finally I bought him the medium bed - recommended on the site for dogs up to 40 pounds only - and he uses that for naps during the day. This bed has the memory foam cushion and is amazing in every way. He doesn't have room to stretch out lengthwise, front legs over his head and back legs reaching in the opposite direction, but he can lie in it on his side with his legs stretched out, straight down from his body. It's a perfect, cozy fit and doesn't take up all the floor space in my kitchen!
