Before purchasing this Therapeutic Dog Couch I searched the internet for just a dog bed. Out of all the ones I looked at, the Couch from LL Bean just seemed to be the best there was out there.
I read all of the reviews that were written and they were most helpful. Not only was I sold on the brand, but the fact the it would be good for my 13 year old border collie who has arthritis and cancer.
Here are a few things I would like to pass on that may be helpful to anyone thinking of getting this couch:
My dog weighs about 55 lbs and when I measured her current dog bed to see what size to order, the medium was just a few inches bigger all around. However, when I ordered, I ordered the large based on the the comparison photos someone added to their comments. The large is perfect for her. Just remember that the sizing includes the bolsters. Measuring just the inside of the bed, it was a perfect fit to her old bed.
My daughter and I put it together in about 20 minutes, laughing the whole time. You have to turn the fabric inside out, upside down, and sideways and put the side bolsters in with the angled end facing down. Or was it up? lol But seriously, just read and follow the directions and you won't have a problem setting it up. We suggest two people put it together.
All my neighbors with dogs are very envious. And our dog took to it like a fish to water. I would definitely buy a second one if we had another dog, but we don't. It is well worth the money and I highly recommend it!

I read all the reviews before purchasing this item. You should do the same. This item will have to be assembled. Took me 15-20 minutes. You will need to be patient because the bottom cushion and bolsters will need to be adjusted in order to get the proper fit. They don't just snap in perfectly. I"ll be faster the next time now that I've assembled it. I washed my cover before assembly. I placed it in the dryer for 30 minutes then air dried it for 24 hours. When inserting side bolsters, start from the back corner and work your way up front to the tapered front. This will allow more cushion in the front and prevent the back from being in the way of the rear bolster. Before inserting rear bolster, turn right side out and make sure you like the shape of the side bolsters. Once they're where you want them, zip up inside zippers and insert rear bolster and zip that up. Insert bottom padding making sure the pad is stretched out to each corner. You might have to knead out the crease in the foam pad. You're now done.
Remember. You will need patience and you will have to adjust as you go. I bought a medium bed for a 32 pound dog. Size is perfect. If you have a dog that likes to sprawl out and is over 40 pounds, go with a large bed. Also, call customer service and ask for the inside measurements. Hope this helped.

bdonaghey bed size comparison
This photo shows the large bed next the medium. The difference in size is considerable and more than you would think when choosing based on the words large and medium. This looks more like a large to small comparison. The medium would be okay for a dog 40lbs or less but the large is big enough for a 100 lb dog.

I bought the regular large bed first. Huge - much bigger than my 70lb lab needed and bigger than my 90 lb hound needs. The bottom cushion is very flimsy and flattens easily but they like it so I tried the therapeutic, hoping for more support in the medium size hoping for a better fit. It is tiny. My 35 lb dog would fit comfortably in it. It doesn't look like a medium size to me at all, given the scale of the large one.

I got the Large size for my 11 month old pup; he's 40" long and 29"h, weighs 100 lbs and that size is perfect. When he curls up, there's a little bit of room left. He also likes to stretch out with his head and paws resting on the bolster. Fabric is sturdy with a strong but soft fleece. The foam is thick with no sagging, supporting him very well.
I love it too!! Assembly took me 15 minutes but then I read instructions over and over again. I'm sure it'll take less next time when I wash it. The bed not only feels like it'll last a very long time but it is very nice looking too.

Schooner loves his new bed! He's 12 years old and suffers from arthritis. He no longer needs to readjust himself and sleeps comfortably all night. See picture!

My 12 year old Lab jumped onto his new bed like he immediately understood it was his and only his! Truly, he suffers from arthritis in his front legs and paws and found it difficult to get comfy on his old bed. It was well-padded but nothing as great as this therapeutic bed. He lays down and sleeps all night without readjusting himself, snoring loudly. See picture.
The quality of the bed is outstanding. We ordered the khaki with loden fleece. Beautifully constructed and sturdy. Other reviewers stated that they tried it out themselves, so I did the same. It really is very nice and the extra-large size would almost fit me (5'3"). It is large but my 105lb. Lab requires the space when he stretches out fully.
Highly recommend this product!

I have a 110 lb yellow lab who loves to sprawl out when he sleeps. I read the reviews and ended up buying the large. Boy I am glad to buy that one and not the xlarge. He has plenty of room and loves it. He would rather sleep on it then any other. Saving to buy another for my upstairs. So worth the money.

UsAlex Our Dog Loves It!
We adopted a 85lb 5-year-old labrador retriever at the end of May 2012. After waiting for a few months before the bed was back in stock, we finally got to order it. It arrived to us much quicker than anticipated. It was easy to put together as long as you follow the instructions.
Immediately after introducing our dog to it, it was clear that he really enjoyed the bed! He lies in it all day and loves to curl up in the corners, and then loves to stretch out, taking up the entire bed. He also likes to rest his head on the couch part as he watches the family as we watch TV!
Great quality, great sizes (we got the large) and great price. Well worth the price of the bed for the quality. Would definitely recommend this to a friend.

I ordered the extra large size for my St. Bernard. It arrived today. I put it together in less than 5 minutes, a pleasant surprise. The only problem is that my German Shepherd jumped into it, won't get out and won't share! He does look blissfully content. I guess I will need to order the large size so they can each have one!
