And the "pudding" are the shoes themselves! I waited for a year before writing this review because I wanted to give an honest evaluation based on the performance of the shoe; the looks are a "given". Now that my husband has worn them for a good time now, I can honestly say. . . .he LOVES them. He liked them right out of the box. . . .and they felt good to him. . . .right out of the box. And now that time has gone by enough to give a fair analysis. . . .they have held up VERY well and he said they now have the feel of a comfortable slipper. He would DEFINITELY buy them again and. . . .trust me. . . .he is VERY, VERY, VERY picky. At 68yrs. old, he remembers how he liked the more "classic" look of the '60s and the tweed coats he used to wear to school. He has NEVER settled for less than perfection. So. . . .you can trust you're getting a quality look AND a quality fit. He normally wears a 10 1/2M and that's what he got. I was a little worried they might be too tight in the toe area because his foot is a "tiny" bit wide with a "tiny" bit of a high arch. . . .but. . . .he was absolutely good to go with the 10 1/2M he ALWAYS wears! Enjoy your purchase. . . .with confidence!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Stanalee too narrow
Ordered size 14 EE and the toe box was so narrow could barely try on a shoe. These shoes are sized on the small side, just be aware. Normally a 14 wide in a New Balance item is very suitable.
The color and style were very attractive however, and hated to have to return them

Rated 5 out of 5 by DwightC Moccasins can last for years . . .
. . . if you treat them right. I have, and these have. I was about to order another pair, when I looked at the ones I have and realized I can get another season out of them. They are wonderful for beating around the house, mornings and evenings, and driving to the store. I wouldn't want to put a lot of miles on them--on pavement or on trails, they aren't meant for that, you'd tear them up and say goodbye to whatever arch your foot has. And in this climate (New Mexico), they are a spring/summer proposition. When it starts getting cold something with a shearling lining, or boiled wool, etc. makes more sense. But, as soon as these wear out, I will buy another pair.

Wearing the shoes from dawn to dusk. They were a little tight at first with my thick socks but have become more comfortable as worn, now being worn with bare feet. The padded interior sole and the arch support suite me just fine. Perfect as a house slipper but can be used to run out for a carton of milk or six pack. Great for driving to the city.
Yes, they are a little smelly at first but it soon fades. Looked for this type of footwear for two months, purchased and sent back two other pair from different suppliers. If or when these wear out, I'll be back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BulboRules Nice, with caveats
Nice casual shoe for around the house or office. A little bit of 'give' on the outside edge so not a good shoe for an uneven surface, as you may twist your ankle. Does have a scent, which lessens over time. Would work well as a driving shoe also.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Beck3 Great Pair of Moc's
These are a very comfortable pair of moc's and look GREAT. My wife likes how nice they look. The size is accurate. I read the reviews about the smell and was a little concerned, but I bought them anyways and I'm glad I did. The smell is not over-powering as some made it seem. Maybe it smells a little different because it's bison and not the usual leather smell that one is used to, I don't know. To me, it smelled like a leather shoe.

These mocs are the most comfortable item I've ever worn on my feet! In fact I wear them virtually every day (weather permitting). Recently, I did some spray painting and inadvertently speckled my mocs. I resorted to cleaning them with turpentine which removed the paint but nothing else. A good shine and they looked like new. These good old soldiers need a furlough, so I'm buying a second pair.

Rated 4 out of 5 by EBlake Extremely comfortable, but...
These are great summer loafers. Very comfortable and fit true to size, but they smell terrible. I don't know if it is the leather, or what but they have an odor. I saw this in another review and I dismissed it, but it's true. I would not send them back because of this, but Bean should figure out the cause.

Probably the most comfortable shoe I've ever bought, hands down. LL Bean used to offer 2 other driving loafers, a kiltie/boat shoe style and a simple loafer, both in dark brown, and I purchased those too. They're comfortable too but with this pair it seems like the shape of the shoe is quick to conform to the contour of your foot which makes this loafer incredibly comfortable. I wore out my other pair and just ordered a replacement. I do wish LL Bean would partner with the manufacturer of these driving loafers and make replacement soles...just when the leather is getting nice and worn, faded and adopts some character, the soles wear out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Percussionista Comfortable but stinky
I bought a pair of these November 2013 but they mostly sit on the shelf now because they smell stinky, and socks that I wear with them pick up the smell too. Seems like a strong glue smell. There is also a slight tendency to tip left or right, perhaps because the bottoms are more flexible and have rounded sides rather than a wider and stiff dress shoe fit. Otherwise, they are very comfortable and look as advertised. As no one else seems to have mentioned this smell problem I will still recommend them and I hope the smell will dissipate though it's been several months now.
