Well done L.L. Bean! In short these boots are fantastic! I bought them about a year ago and at first I was nervous that the initial stiffness would cause chaffing but I was pleasantly surprised, they broke in well are very comfortable. Even back woods snowshoeing/snowmobiling in sub-freezing weather did not stop these boots from doing their job (with only one layer of socks I might add). The deep tread is a great bonus for walking/hiking on slick terrain. Liked them so much I bought my wife a pair as well.

I purchased these boots for their warmth and was concerned after reading some of the other reviews that sizing and comfort were going to be an issue. I found neither to be the case.
I wear and ordered a size 11 and they fit perfectly over a pair of heavy LLBean boot socks. I was also prepared to install a pair of Dr. Scholls inserts but have found the boots to be well cushioned and comfortable without them.
Haven't had a chance yet to test the waterproof capabilities but they are well made and nice and warm (plus they are good looking, which never hurts).

These boots don't even resemble the Wildcats that LL Bean used to sell. They should not be called Wildcats because for anyone like me that has owned and used Bean Wildcats from pervious years they are not even close. They are not anywhere near as warm and the construction is totally different. My old Wildcats are a womans size 7. The first pair that I ordered this year was a womans 8 and it was smaller than the old 7s and way more narrow. Also the old ones had a nice wide sole that gave the wearer more stability in slippery conditions. I returned the womens 8 and ordered a mens 7. No dice. They were a little too long but way more narrow than my original womens 7s. Too narrow for me even with a thin sock. Obviously LLBean has changed manufacturer on this product so maybe they should change the name also..suggestion: "Pussycats" would probably be more appropriate.

Beware that the length may be short, as my toes are just slightly shy of touching. Unfortunately there are no half-sizes.

Rated 2 out of 5 by EricIndiana They chafe at your ankles
Thse boots are OK. They are water resistant. You need long socks though because they chafe badly at your ankles.

These boots make feet swett if worn any length of time and feet are cold as soon as you step outside , not a good cold weather boot for me

Well,I decided to wear my new LL Bean boots for the first time.I didn't get far before I realized something didn't feel right. It felt like something hard sticking me just above my right ankle. Not a good idea to continue,so I returned and decided to try thicker socks.A no go! I would say a defect.

by GMH1 Warning - seam split after very light use
I am returning the boot to the store for hopefully full replacement value to purchase a different style Bean boot. The glued seams near where the boot is supposed to flex for the ball of your foot is cracked on both. Although it took me a few days to figure out the seam had broken and that was why my feet were wet! Both boots in the pair have failed in exactly the same spot. Warning - flex the boot and inspect the seam frequently. I am a very light duty user, basically into and out of my car each day to drive to work and 2-3 overnight camp-outs with Boy Scouts per year. Failed after 1.5 seasons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by walkingdoc great support, warm but no sweat, light weight and
I wore my first pair of wildcat boots many years until they fell apart! Even taped with duct tape they were still great. I was afraid I could not get them again....was so glad I found them at LL Bean online. I have 2 pair in boxes incase they will not be available when I wear out my current pair. Over Easter my Dad eyed them and asked to try...fit him perfectly and he asked if he could have them....nope... won't even give them up to my Dad....but I order these for him, they were too narrow so we tried a different style that came wide. They fit him perfectly and I was glad because I would have had to give him my beloved pair. Thank you LL Bean for keeping quality and products
consistent over the years.
