Rated 5 out of 5áby JWP6199 Fit perfectly and high quality jacket.
I read reviews and ordered a size down from my normal XL when they said they ran a bit large. Don't believe them. I had to return it for my usual size XL and I could not be more pleased. Fit's perfectly and in this freezing winter in Upstate New York, it's my go to coat. I never return anything. I'm glad I did here. I will take LL Bean's advise and call them in the future regarding whether something deviates from the norm. Excellent coat!!! PS: I love the pockets and the snap closures!! I also like the way the zipper does NOT go all the way to the bottom, makes for easier sitting with the coat closed.

I bought his coat in Feb 2013 based in on the reviews on this site. What a great coat! I'm 6' 2" 235lbs and the XL Tall fits like a glove. The jacket is warm, well made, pockets are roomy, sleeves perfect, and I get complements on both style and fit. The overall quality is excellent. I live in eastern West Virginia where the weather can be warmer on one side of the mountains and cold on the other. This coat fits the bill for me perfectly. I can also wear this on casual Friday, out to a ball game, and out to dinner as well.

Bought the mushroom and the gray last spring. Very pleased with the coats. Quite warm, nice features and workmanship. Me: 170 lbs., 5'11" (small Large); Medium fits nicely. Literally today was trying on military M65 field jackets at a surplus store--miserable quality! This field jacket crushes them for quality. Give it a try; I think you will like it.

I ordered the grey jacket and it came within days. After I put it on, my wife commented that if this jacket is green or navy blue, it will blend in with the People Republic of China Army uniform quite nicely, and may be that is the reason the big LL Bean label in on back outside rather then inside to differentiate the jackets.
Beside the above comment, both of us like the jacket a lot. I ordered Large with concern that it may be too big. I am 5' 10" 185#, 42 chest and 35" waist. I usually order Large from Bean and they fit well. This jacket is no exception, the shoulder and sleeves fit well, little bit loose on the chest and waist, a mid layer and waist elastic loop will fix the issue. Material and workmanship are great. Plenty of pockets. At mid 30's temp outdoor, it keep me warm with a sweat shirt underneath. With a sale price of ~ $ 70, it is well worth the money.

At the sale price, this field coat is terrific buy! The thinsulate-lined sleeves and the sherpa-fleece lining combine with the weathered cotton canvas outer to make a warm, comfortable, and great-looking coat. I will wear this in 20-45 degree weather and remain comfortable without a sweater. Paired with the LL Bean flannel shirt I'm warm even when walking into a cold wind. The Norwegians have a saying: "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." With all my "Beanwear"--from the Baxter St. Parka to the sherpa field coat--I'm ready for anything.

My Slate Gray arrived today. Another sensational on-sale value. My Large size was just a tad long in the sleeves at 5'8" 215 lbs and a 34/35 inseam. But the fabric quality and Thinsulate lining were both lights out. Feels already broken in; did shrink only a little any after washing it trying to shrink it down to a medium. Love the pockets; they are built tough to last. Bring this back in either a Eucalyptus or Loden Green and I'll buy another one at full price! Hate to see this one phased out for the season. A quality jacket for temps in the 30s and 40s if you are traveling with gear of any kind. Zipper was tiny for the jacket, but it works fine regardless.

Just got the coat, and tried it on. Was very apprehensive about ordering one size smaller. I usually wear an XL being 6 ft tall and 220 lbs. I went with the recommendation of the other reviewers and ordered the size L. I am glad I did as the coat fits excellent. Not too loose and not too snug through the chest and shoulders. Sleeves are the perfect length. I tried it on and it feels very warm. Should be perfect for the weather I want it for. The snaps and zipper take getting used to but they are not a big issue to me like other reviewers suggested, also the LL Bean patch on the back looks fine to me. The cotton washed shell is soft and just the right feel too. I am feeling good about the purchase and considering the sale price I can't see how you could go wrong considering the quality and wormanship of the coat. Shipping was also amazingly fast and free!

First off the fit was great, I wear an XL and that's what I ordered, perfect. I love the sherpa lining, this coat has a very cozy, comfy feel. Soft exterior is great.I live in northern Vermont and think it's adequately warm. I do wish it had some water resistance though. Can't go wrong at $69

I think this is a great knock around jacket especially for the $69 sale price. The jacket is warm and comfortable and the XL size fits my 5'10" 235 lb. frame well.
My two dislikes, not rain resistant, and I have doubts that the small zipper will hold up ,and/or stay attached to the bottom of the jacket after awhile.
I would recommend this jacket.
