Rated 5 out of 5 by tmblr LOVE it.
I absolutely love this jacket. Have used in -6F and with just a tshirt underneath and was totally fine. I am 5'4/130lbs and the Misses XS is a perfect fit-- I can still put a couple of thinner layers underneath. The hood is perfect and the drawstrings keep it on well, the hand warmer pockets are effective.
I used it last year in the San Francisco bay area in winter without overheating, as well as snowstorms in Wisconsin :)
The only downside is that for travel, this jacket obviously doesn't pack down small-- I just carry it on the plane and hold it in my lap.
I definitely recommend this jacket to friends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Faire Not bulky! Stylish and really warm!
The zipper took a little bit of learning, true. But now that I know how to zip up my own coat, the zipper works fine and what is MINDBLOWING is how reliably warm and comfortable this coat is! And it's not at all bulky! I have never ever owned a coat that actually keeps me warm and dry in Maine, until now! I live on an island where winds whip and sub-zero or temps in the teens meant I've worn layers of coats for years, but not this year! Can you tell that I am so grateful?! The hood works great, the coat works so great that I can't even understand it. How could such a lightweight not bulky coat be so warm? To me, this isn't a coat, it's a miracle! Plus I don't look like some sort of a bulky bozo! The coat looks smooth and trim and nice! I don't know how they did it, but this coat is the best coat ever if your goal is to be warm and to look nice in a place like Maine! Super well done LLBean!

Rated 4 out of 5 by KDFJ Great Coat - Except for the Zipper
The pros - This coast kept me toasty warm during a recent trip to NYC. Love the length.
The cons - The double zipper. I must admit that when I read the reviews prior to purchasing, I thought the negative zipper reviews were a little ridiculous. How difficult can a zipper be? I stand corrected, ladies. This double zipper can be very difficult. I wasted a lot of time standing in restaurants and subways trying to get the stupid zipper to line up correctly and ZIP. It was so difficult I often needed help from my daughter. When that failed, we solicited help from passerbys. Seriously. I finally just gave up and kept it zipped even when I was sweating just to avoid the delay of trying to zip up my coat like a three year old. If I lived somewhere that I needed to wear this coat daily, I would return it based on the zipper. But because I only need it for travel or for the occasional cold day in Texas, I can deal with it. Overall, a great, warm coat for a good price. But really, LL Bean should fix the zipper.

I loved everything about the coat, except for the zipper. I had read the reviews about the zipper and ignored them, but once I received the jacket, I realized that it was a real problem. I can't stand here for 5 minutes trying to get the zipper to work when I am leaving for work.
I tried for several days before finally giving up and returning the coat.
Too bad as it was exactly what I wanted!

Rated 4 out of 5 by sgoreehills Second Chance for Zippers
The first Winter Warmer Coat that arrived had a faulty zipper. It took three or four tries to get the zipper up which was frustrating. After exchanging the coat, the second coat is perfect. The zipper moves flawlessly. The coat is warm and roomy enough for a heavy sweater underneath. It is great for walking my Labrador in 30 degree or 15 degree weather. People have complimented the moss green color. I always read the review of LL Bean coats because there does seem to be a pervading zipper problem. However, I have had several LL Bean coats and jackets over the years and this was my first problem. Be sure to give Bean a second chance if you get a faulty zipper.

Ordered this coat in spite of the zipper comments. I thought I could deal with it. I can't. Let me know when zipper issue is fixed and I will consider purchasing. Otherwise, it's a good coat though I found it to be a little large.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ARtraveler Better then London Fog
I bought this coat because I wanted something to replace my 5 year old all weather London Fog. I thought my London Fog was the perfect coat but I was wrong, this LL Bean is. I love that it is all weather, I don't have to worry when leaving work if it is raining and I don't have a umbrella; I put up my hood and go. There is a great zipper on the inside for my cell phone and the pockets have zippers so I won't lose my gloves. I plan on buying a second one in a different color.

Rated 3 out of 5 by NFDL Winter Warmer Coat KL271139 - Small fit
Ordered this warm coat for my very aged, tiny mother. She is barely 110 pounds so I ordered a size medium which turned out to be too small. I returned it for a size large but now it's too long. She cannot maneuver the zipper being so low (close to her knees). No fault of the coat, for sure. Nice looking coat - I think most people would enjoy it, but be cautious about the sizing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MelDes11 Awful Zipper, Drawstring bulges in the midsection
I really loved the look of this jacket and my girls have worn LL Bean jackets for years so thought to treat myself with this one. Key issues:
1. The zipper is horrendous. I have stood in the cold for 5 minutes swearing, almost in a fit of rage because I cannot do up the zipper.
2. The drawstring in the middle has two rather large plastic bobbles that press up against you uncomfortably and make your midsection look like you're 4-5 months pregnant. I am a fit and healthy size 12, I wear the medium (which runs a tad large) and I have people offering me their seat on most trains!
3. Its not warm. On days that are 1 or 2 degrees Celsius I have to wear a jumper or sweatshirt underneath.
Pretty disappointed and will be sending back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by manchu84 Great nasty weather coat!
Good and warm, really rolls the water! Just like other reviews said, the drawstring at the waist could use some improvement and the sleeves are a little undersized. With sweaters or other heavier items the coat fit is great but the sleeves are a little snug. Other than that the coat is great for nasty, cold, wet and windy weather!
