I absolutely love this jacket. Have used in -6F and with just a tshirt underneath and was totally fine. I am 5'4/130lbs and the Misses XS is a perfect fit-- I can still put a couple of thinner layers underneath. The hood is perfect and the drawstrings keep it on well, the hand warmer pockets are effective.
I used it last year in the San Francisco bay area in winter without overheating, as well as snowstorms in Wisconsin :)
The only downside is that for travel, this jacket obviously doesn't pack down small-- I just carry it on the plane and hold it in my lap.
I definitely recommend this jacket to friends!

I ordered this coat online about a month ago. I ordered petite because I didn't want the coat to be too long and it's darn near perfect! The sleeves are a tad short (due to petite) but the length is great! I love the color (red) and have had no issues with the zipper. I can see how some might have issues, but double zippers are nice. It is a very warm coat and keeps me cozy during the cold months! Great buy!

This coat is wonderfully warm. I get cold very easily and wanted something well-made that would do well in temps in the teens. It certainly fit the bill! I actually looked forward to going outside for chores because it blocks the cold so well. It was not my first choice; the coat I really wanted didn't come in Women's sizes and the XL wouldn't have been comfortable over bulky clothing. I also wasn't crazy about the color (forest moss), but that's what you get when you wait too long to order. And I'm not a fan of the double zipper or whatever it's called - I've learned to allow a couple of minutes to zip it up. That said, it is really a comfortable, warm coat that will last for a long time, and the price was excellent (one advantage to ordering late in the season!). I'll definitely be checking Bean for warm-weather raincoats this year.

What a nice coat.... except for the plastic zipper. I tired and tried to get it to zip up, to no avail. Don't bother ordering it. Beans should know better than to put cheap zippers in their products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SweetVA Excellent warming, but hard to zip
I needed a good lightweight coat for the cold. This did the job. The past few winters in my area have had an increase in snow and wind. After a lot of research I settled on one. I love the coat thickness and the length is perfect (5'3"). But as several others have said the zipper is awful. I got around it by using the snaps but as it got colder I needed to use the zipper. It takes a good -3-5 tries to line it up so get the zipper to come up. Very frustrating. Driving in the coat causing the reversible zipper to come up and that is an even harder challenge to get the zipper pulled back down and lined up to open. I have returned to only snaps as I fear I will bust the zipper and tear the coat. LLB - take another look at that zipper.

I bought this coat last winter, and thank God I did! It was a lifesaver as we had a very long, hard winter here in NJ. It's also been put to good use this year as again our winter is very cold and never-ending. I'm so very glad I own this coat. I wish it came in brown. If it did, I'd buy another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BostonCitygirl Great jacket and shell
I love this coat. I needed something that could serve as a shell for wet and snowy weather or be a coat alone if not as cold. This coat totally fit the bill. It is warm, water repellent and wind resistant. You can easily wear a down vest or down sweater underneath. Very versatile. I am so glad I purchased it.

I liked everything about the coat, but every time I used it, the zipper stuck. I think it was defective . I would not recommend this item to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MidwestWinterBrrr Excellent Parka
Just purchased this coat as a replacement for my other LL bean parka (of which I had for 9 years!!), and am VERY pleased. I can attest that LL bean coats are durable and (obviously) last a long time. I'm 5.1" and about 139-145lbs, I bought the womens medium. The length hits my knees, the arms are a tiny bit long but perfect while driving (no pulling etc.). I'm comfortable in it wearing a thick sweatshirt, even have extra room. The faux fur inside is a pretty grey (not "rat like" as described in previous posts?!) and keeps me warm, we're experiencing -2 to -14 weather conditions this season and it's been a godsend! The inside cinches at the waist with adjustable cords, so yes, you can get some shape to the jacket. Other than getting used to the zipper being on the opposite site (as with mens coats), it gives me no trouble. I do wish the inside wind protective cuffs of the sleeves was longer, and that the inside fur went all the way down the length of the coat vrs just the lower back region, but, overall this parka is true to size and very, very warm. Oh! The outer material is a heavy duty microfiber type density, where snow and rain beads right off of it, and provides a fabulous wind barrier (even better than my old LL bean down parka-did I mention it took me 9 years to replace that coat b/c it was so extremely well made?!), again this season we've experienced negative temps as well as 20-30mile an hour winds and this coat is the best by far when venturing outside. Also, the material makes very little noise-no idea why previous reviews are complaining about this?! These are all questions I wanted answered when considering purchasing this coat, sorry for the long winded review. Hope it helps though!:)

This coat is a great one to wear during a winter walk, to church, or just out and about. I find some difficulty with the zipper as written in some of the reviews. You really need to put the two zipper pieces together just right for success in zipping. Love the color red with my white hair!
