Rated 5 out of 5 by AliciaM Great Coat!
Bought this coat last year in the Navy and loved it so much I just bought the jacket today in the blue. I wear the coat to work and plan to wear the jacket during the cold months when I am walking my dogs in the rain and snow. Can't wait to get it. Fits great and is light weight which I love.

For those who disagree with the comfort ranges, LLBean has information on how a coat is given a comfort range. Basically, the comfort range assumes layering underneath. Therefore, the comfort range of -35 would assume that you have both thermals and wear a light fleece underneath -- vest or top. Layering is the way to go. For looking for a coat that goes to zero to 20 (the northeast), you have to practice with layers to reach your comfort zone with any coat. I always wear a microfiber light jacket underneath or a fleece shirt, with my regular clothes, though I rarely wear thermals. We don't get to -35 in NY. Last Winter, I wore this almost every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LeeGal Replacement coat
I buy all my coats from LLBean because they last. Unfortunately, I had a similar coat, from LLBean, and spilled bleach on it. This is similar, but not as heavy as the one I'm replacing, but the closest to it -- and for a good price. What I do like is that this one has an inner wind cuff.. What I do not like is that the hood cannot be folded and zippered into the collar as I usually wear the coat without the hood out -- however this hood is adjustable. I'm keeping the coat, though I had hoped that it would be a bit heavier. The test will be the winter as the other was my go-to coat for all of last winter's snow. Great fit, true to size, and one could wear a sweater or shirt/jacket underneath for layering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by tmblr LOVE it.
I absolutely love this jacket. Have used in -6F and with just a tshirt underneath and was totally fine. I am 5'4/130lbs and the Misses XS is a perfect fit-- I can still put a couple of thinner layers underneath. The hood is perfect and the drawstrings keep it on well, the hand warmer pockets are effective.
I used it last year in the San Francisco bay area in winter without overheating, as well as snowstorms in Wisconsin :)
The only downside is that for travel, this jacket obviously doesn't pack down small-- I just carry it on the plane and hold it in my lap.
I definitely recommend this jacket to friends!

Rated 3 out of 5 by MsZZ Not As Warm As Hoped For
Now that I've worn the coat awhile, I can make an honest review. The coat is not as warm as some of the other reviewers claim. If I wear a sweater under the coat, or I stay active, then the coat keeps me warm. But I typically stand at a bus stop for about 10-15 minutes at 6:00 a.m., and that's when I really need the warmth, but don't have it. It is nice to have the two-directional zipper, but it can somewhat tricky to operate. When I try on a coat in the stores and I find that the zipper is troublesome in any way, I don't buy the coat.
The bottom line, if I had tried on this coat in a store, I would not have bought it.

This coat is quite warm with a fleece layering. The royal purple color really pops.

I purchased the coat in petite xs in pacific blue. I'm 5'2 and 123 lbs. Fits perfectly. Nice and warm and room for extra layer underneath if needed. Love the color. BUT the zipper is driving me insane! I've actually given up sometimes trying to zipper. Like another reviewer stated - it's embarrassing. Today I was next to a toddler while we both tried to zipper our jackets. She beat me. Probably should have returned it but with this long winter we are having in Philadelphia I am enjoying the warmth of this otherwise beautiful coat.

This coat is soft inside and has zippered pockets in all the right places. It also has some issues.
Major Issue: The sizing did not allow for additional layers. I selected the correct size measurement-wise, but there is absolutely no extra room. Since the comfort range assumes additional layers, this -35* coat offers little warmth even at temps in the teens.
Moderate Issue: The primary (double) zipper is relatively small and difficult to feed. As a grown woman, it is pretty embarrassing to stand at the train station fumbling forever with my zipper.
Very Minor Issue: The hood's seams aren't very flattering, and pulling the cords only makes it worse.
Just a Note: The Pacific Blue color is quite dark. My computer screen made it several shades lighter and brighter.

Almost perfect, but desperately needs a removable hood. I am returning because this lack of flexibility is driving me crazy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by lovebulldogs Nice coat, but not as warm as expected
This coat is perfect for cool days 40 degrees and above, but not for cold days. I expected it to be much warmer, because it was rated to -35 degrees. I wore it several times when it was between 30 and 10 degrees and It did not keep me warm for even a few minutes. I am disappointed. Definitely not for cold climates.
