Rated 5 out of 5 by AliciaM Great Coat!
Bought this coat last year in the Navy and loved it so much I just bought the jacket today in the blue. I wear the coat to work and plan to wear the jacket during the cold months when I am walking my dogs in the rain and snow. Can't wait to get it. Fits great and is light weight which I love.

Love this coat! It's warm and cozy and great for hours outside with my son playing in the snow. I look forward to using it again this year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Remove Replacing an old LL Bean Jacket
Many years ago I purchased the perfect jacket from LL Bean and practically wore it to death. Last winter after many, many washings, wearings, & wet winter storms it started to fray, and I accidently splattered paint on it. This jacket is almost identical; except, much to my delight, it's mid-thigh length. I appreciate the extra length when I'm outside for hours with my dog in the winter. The hood is also lined. The hood on the old jacket wasn't, but zipped into the collar, which I never did. I also like the fact that it has snaps on the flap over the zipper. My old one had Velcro, which would stick to my clothes if I wore the jacket open, so I removed the tacky side. The only thing I miss is the Velcro tab and elastic at the wrist. This helped keep the sleeves the right length. I had no issues with the zipper when I tried it on (time will tell). I haven't worn it yet, but putting the 2 jackets together, they're the same weight. I layered (thermals, microfleece or heavy sweater) to keep myself warm. I'm ready, winter, bring it on!

The colour is beautiful! The fit was exactly what I was looking for. I purchased an XL and not only did it fit my hips it was flattering. I usually layer so this is perfect to layer a sweater underneath it. I had no issues with the zipper. I cannot wait for it to get cold enough to wear it!.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CountryViewer Really liked it!
The sleeves were long enough, which was great, and the inside secret cuff will keep out the wind. The two way zipper is great when sitting down. The warm hood lining and extra bill on the front of the hood will also keep me warmer and drier. It was more than I expected, windproof and water resistant.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 4747 Nice coat - bad zipper
I was hesitant after reading the comments about the zipper but went ahead and ordered it anyway. The reviews were correct - the zipper stinks! Where is the quality control? I thought for sure Beans would have fixed this by now. I'm determined to figure it out because I really like the coat. I will try the zipper several times this evening and if it continues to give me fits - it's going back. I ordered the black in XL. I'm 5'8 and size 14-16 and usually a L in LLBean coats. I ordered up a size for layering, i.e., fleece jacket underneath if needed - or if I needed something to fit over a blazer . The sleeve length is perfect. The cuffs are fleece lined, but no Velcro on the outside of the cuffs to tighten. The hood is ample and can be cinched down. Pockets, although set a little low, are fleece lined and zip shut. There's a small inside lapel zip-pocket on the left. The length is just above my knee which is what I was looking for. Also, there's a waist cinch cord. I hate snug coats so this is going to work really nice - provided I can figure out this zipper. It's definitely not the quality of zippers of past LLBean coats and I'm a 35+year Bean shopper. For that reason, I deducted a star.

I go to Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and this coat was so wonderful this past winter! It is the perfect length (I got petite, I'm 5"6' but I needed a coat!) and it hits at my mid-thigh. It is so warm and not too heavy. It's also a very flattering fit and the faux fur in the hood does a great job of keeping your ears warm if you forget a hat. I had the Winter Warmer Jacket the previous winter but I needed the length that the jacket offers on my legs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LeeGal Comfort ranges
For those who disagree with the comfort ranges, LLBean has information on how a coat is given a comfort range. Basically, the comfort range assumes layering underneath. Therefore, the comfort range of -35 would assume that you have both thermals and wear a light fleece underneath -- vest or top. Layering is the way to go. For looking for a coat that goes to zero to 20 (the northeast), you have to practice with layers to reach your comfort zone with any coat. I always wear a microfiber light jacket underneath or a fleece shirt, with my regular clothes, though I rarely wear thermals. We don't get to -35 in NY. Last Winter, I wore this almost every day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LeeGal Replacement coat
I buy all my coats from LLBean because they last. Unfortunately, I had a similar coat, from LLBean, and spilled bleach on it. This is similar, but not as heavy as the one I'm replacing, but the closest to it -- and for a good price. What I do like is that this one has an inner wind cuff.. What I do not like is that the hood cannot be folded and zippered into the collar as I usually wear the coat without the hood out -- however this hood is adjustable. I'm keeping the coat, though I had hoped that it would be a bit heavier. The test will be the winter as the other was my go-to coat for all of last winter's snow. Great fit, true to size, and one could wear a sweater or shirt/jacket underneath for layering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by tmblr LOVE it.
I absolutely love this jacket. Have used in -6F and with just a tshirt underneath and was totally fine. I am 5'4/130lbs and the Misses XS is a perfect fit-- I can still put a couple of thinner layers underneath. The hood is perfect and the drawstrings keep it on well, the hand warmer pockets are effective.
I used it last year in the San Francisco bay area in winter without overheating, as well as snowstorms in Wisconsin :)
The only downside is that for travel, this jacket obviously doesn't pack down small-- I just carry it on the plane and hold it in my lap.
I definitely recommend this jacket to friends!
