I absolutely love this jacket. Have used in -6F and with just a tshirt underneath and was totally fine. I am 5'4/130lbs and the Misses XS is a perfect fit-- I can still put a couple of thinner layers underneath. The hood is perfect and the drawstrings keep it on well, the hand warmer pockets are effective.
I used it last year in the San Francisco bay area in winter without overheating, as well as snowstorms in Wisconsin :)
The only downside is that for travel, this jacket obviously doesn't pack down small-- I just carry it on the plane and hold it in my lap.
I definitely recommend this jacket to friends!

I received the coat within four days. WOW! I believe it will be a very warm coat. I'm impressed with the material and lining. The front side pockets seem to be placed low. If I tighten the waist that should draw them up some. We had a very cold winter in SC last year, so I want to be prepared for this year. I ordered a size large. I am 5'5" and about 145 lbs. I usually wear a size 14 in pants and tops. I would think that you would have to remove this coat when entering a heated room/building or unzip it. The zipper was not a problem for me, just align the tabs and it slips right in place.

Rated 3 out of 5 by WanderingColoradoGirl Great coat but can't get past the BAD zipper
I bought this coat to walk the dog on the cold South Dakota mornings. Since I bought it at the end of the season, I've only used it for rain until today. The coat is warm, covers nicely, and I can move enough to shovel snow. However, the zipper is HORRIBLE. It takes me an average of three minutes just to get the coat zipped up because it is so hard to get the zipper fully engaged at the bottom. Had it not worked so well today with the (so far) 10" of snow, this coat would be going back.

I'm always cold and this coat keeps me warm. Pluses are: longer length, snaps AND zipper; lined and cuffed sleeves, wind resistant, keeps neck warm, hooded, adjustable waist and more!!! I'm 5'6" and weigh 133; bought a Medium and there's room for multiple layering as needed. I almost purchased the large b/c size charts are usually inaccurate, but this fits perfectly. Also, it's lightweight and I plan to take it on my winter travels. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

This is the coat I've been looking for! Perfect length to keep me warm in Minnesota winters and an adjustable waist so I don't look totally shapeless. I just wore it this morning walking my dog on a very windy day with windchill of 26 degrees and just a t-shirt underneath - warm as toast (and I am the type who gets cold very easily)! I have no trouble with the zipper at all. Love the generous sleeve length. Can zip it all the way up to my neck and collar keeps my neck warm so I don't have to wear a scarf, but is not too stiff so it doesn't hurt my chin. I esp love that the waist has an adjustable cord ALL the way around to give a very flattering shape if you have a small waist like I do - but can also be left wide for a looser fit if that is what you like. This coat is a bargain for the price - I have been buying LLBean coats for years (I have an LLBean rainjacket that I bought in 1997 and it still looks new even after lots of wear!!).

I bought this coat at end of the worst winter on record in the NE. It is such a fantastic coat. True sizing, amazingly warm but light weight. I bought it in a bright color to walk the dog and be seen at night. I will be buying another in the fall in black to wear to work and out for dinner. It is so versitile and warm, and dry!! Must own!!

I ordered this coat online about a month ago. I ordered petite because I didn't want the coat to be too long and it's darn near perfect! The sleeves are a tad short (due to petite) but the length is great! I love the color (red) and have had no issues with the zipper. I can see how some might have issues, but double zippers are nice. It is a very warm coat and keeps me cozy during the cold months! Great buy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bubbles53 Well-named!
This coat is wonderfully warm. I get cold very easily and wanted something well-made that would do well in temps in the teens. It certainly fit the bill! I actually looked forward to going outside for chores because it blocks the cold so well. It was not my first choice; the coat I really wanted didn't come in Women's sizes and the XL wouldn't have been comfortable over bulky clothing. I also wasn't crazy about the color (forest moss), but that's what you get when you wait too long to order. And I'm not a fan of the double zipper or whatever it's called - I've learned to allow a couple of minutes to zip it up. That said, it is really a comfortable, warm coat that will last for a long time, and the price was excellent (one advantage to ordering late in the season!). I'll definitely be checking Bean for warm-weather raincoats this year.

What a nice coat.... except for the plastic zipper. I tired and tried to get it to zip up, to no avail. Don't bother ordering it. Beans should know better than to put cheap zippers in their products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by SweetVA Excellent warming, but hard to zip
I needed a good lightweight coat for the cold. This did the job. The past few winters in my area have had an increase in snow and wind. After a lot of research I settled on one. I love the coat thickness and the length is perfect (5'3"). But as several others have said the zipper is awful. I got around it by using the snaps but as it got colder I needed to use the zipper. It takes a good -3-5 tries to line it up so get the zipper to come up. Very frustrating. Driving in the coat causing the reversible zipper to come up and that is an even harder challenge to get the zipper pulled back down and lined up to open. I have returned to only snaps as I fear I will bust the zipper and tear the coat. LLB - take another look at that zipper.
