It's about a block from the parking lot to my office, so I bought these for rainy/slushy days. They're pretty, practical and comfortable?almost perfect. They fit perfectly over my thick wool socks (size 5.5 foot; size 6 boot). But, sadly, I have to return them -- the upper part is too tight for my calf, hence the "almost" qualifier. The inside measurement around the top is 13 5/8 inches; the inside height at the heel from the sole to the top is 9 1/4 inches. If only they were about an inch bigger around?.

A year ago I wrote a glowing review of these boots. I live in southern Maryland with two dogs. They are perfect for dog duty, and any "presents" from the yard wash off easily and quickly. I even wear then in the summer. They are comfortable - even if you pop them onto bare feet. They fit true to size and half sizes should order UP.
Last month I noticed that one of the boots had a crack/tear in the front at the ankle. I looked at the other boot, and it had one too. So they are no longer waterproof if I'm going through ankle deep puddles and might not work in a heavy rain. Still they do the trick for yard duty. I will have to be more careful when washing them because of the cracks. I don't want the inside to get wet.
So purchase with this caution. They may crack on you as well. I will probably contact Bean about a replacement pair if they have my size.

Purchased these 02/2012 in floral green to add to my now 3 pair outdoor wet wear collection. It doesn't rain a lot here, but I like the height because I am short and they are kind to the back of my knee. Recently I thought that I was getting water into them somehow but did not realize until the other day that the one is split on the seam and both are cracked above the instep. We are green here and don't use chemicals, thus not sure why this would happen though the split is obviously a product assembly failure. My first garden wellies lasted 25 years. The oldest pair I have presently are pushing 15 years still in service and looking good. These are a real disappointment though they look good, my feet are getting wet.

Definitely just for someone who is going to wear them 4 times a year to commute to work. Any more wear and tear than that, and the rubber will crack somewhere. My first pair, it was the ankle, I didn't bother to return them, my fault, too lazy...the replacement pair I bought, have now done the same thing but around where the upper boot joins to the foot. Kind of unacceptable for a rubber boot! Supposed to be pretty sturdy I would imagine. I will be returning for a refund, and unfortunately, do not feel comfortable enough with the quality to bother replacing them again.

I bought the basic mid-height green Wellies. I have worn them every day since I received them 6 days ago and so far I like them a lot. They have excellent waterproof traction in the fields. There is plenty of room for your calf and you can tighten them if you have slim calves. They also have excellent arch support. They are comfortable and easy to slip into/remove. I cannot attest to their longevity but so far they are great. I hope they last a long time because I really, really like them.

I love everything about my plaid wellies. They are the perfect height, very comfortable w/the cushioned sole, and adorable. I get many compliments when I wear them. My true size is a 7 1/2 (foot is tad wide) - so, based on the reviews I ordered a size 8. They were way too big. I returned and got the size 7. The fit is perfect even with thicker socks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by PondGirl55 Two pairs of Wellies cracked
Sorry to say the first pair cracked where the foot meets the shaft, as others have described, after only a few times wearing them (just for walking in the rain, not for working in the barn). LL Bean replaced them no question, but the next pair cracked too, again after only a few times of light use. This time I returned them and got the original Bean boots, which are sturdier--so far so good. Sorry these didn't work because they are what I really wanted. LL Bean was very cooperative. I hope they improve the product.

Purchased in November, by March the front had cracked open where the shaft meets the foot. Granted, I use them nearly every day, but I did expect more than 4 months' use out of them.
They are a cute style, and the short profile makes it easy to slip the pant leg into the shaft. They're machined better than the cheap department store rain boots, with no noticeable seam inside. I found the foot a bit under-padded, so added an insole. With the insole, they were quite comfortable, and the insole added a bit of insulation. I also purchased a few wellie socks, which make them lovely on a moderately cold day. On really cold days, my husband would be happy and toasty in his Bean Thinsulate boots, and I'd be running to the house for foot warmers. We have wet winters and clay soil, which can be treacherously slick, but I always had enough traction in these boots.
Farming, I'm walking around and squatting down to pat an animal or pick up things the goats or llamas might try to chew. I suspect it's the squatting down that did the boots in. So they might be just fine for walking, just not for working. I'll be picking up my own pair of thinsulate boots to replace these.
Fit-wise, I'm a solid 7 1/2M, sometimes 8. I bought size 7 and it fit fine and had enough room for an insole and a wellie liner without feeling overly snug, but they aren't uncomfortably loose with just a sock, either.
