Rated 4 out of 5áby keae I very much like this shirt, BUT
Overall, I love this shirt. I do not normally dry my clothes in the dryer; however, I chose to follow the directions on this shirt and dried it. I chose low settings and it shrunk. I am so disappointed that happened. I have sent this one back for another shirt which I will HANG to dry rather than use a clothes dryer. I have purchased another one of these in a different color but haven't washed it yet. Again, it will not go in the clothes dryer.

Gave two shirts, one chamois cloth, the other lined flannel to a friend. She was delighted. L.L. Bean quality really shows. Some others in the family received flannel shirts by other makers, which were not nearly so well-made.

Rated 4 out of 5áby PuppyChow The fabric is thinner than the 90'
My mother-in-law (back then she was my now husband's mother, never met her) passed away in 1996. I inherited two of her Bean's chamois shirts in pink and blue. I was new to America and just loved those two shirts. They were warm and the fabric was much thicker than the one I just received today. I remember wearing them all the time when I was living in San Diego. The shirt I got today is still nice and I like it, but it does not measure up to the ones back in the 90'.

I was really looking forward to having a chamois shirt like an older one that I have from a different maker. This one didn't measure up. The fabric was on the thin side for chamois. After one washing, the placket buckled and the fabric developed an uneven nap, almost like pilling. I had purchased the gray heather. Maybe the other colors wash better? Didn't like the pockets either...too bulky. I returned mine and didn't try another. Thank you LLBean for your great return policy. I wasn't stuck with this.

Rated 5 out of 5áby LostCause Nice shirt, not relaxed fit
I love this shirt. It's a nice heavy flannel in a feminine cut and color. I can't comment on how it compares to the old chamois shirts because this is the first chamois shirt I've ordered from LLBean. I'm 5' 5" and 140 lbs, small-chested. I can often fit in either a size S or M. I ordered size S because the fit is described as relaxed. I have the Big Corduroy shirt, which is a relaxed fit, in size S and that shirt is much roomier on me than this one. This shirt fits me perfectly in a size S but I'm going to have to wash it in cold water and air dry it because there is no room for shrinkage. It is roomy enough to layer over a henley but I wouldn't call it a relaxed fit. Next time I'll order size Medium. I ordered the emerald teal. I expected a darker teal based on the online photo, but it's a vibrant green teal. It's pretty, just not what I expected.

I would love this shirt if there were no pockets. They make the shirt too bulky. Have you ever thought of offering a second choice without the pockets?
The shirt is very well made, good warm material and a good fit. I just don't need the pockets.

Rated 2 out of 5áby HorseGrl No longer deserves to be called a chamois shirt
As a customer with so much New England loyalty to LL Bean and their outstanding customer service, I'm very sad to see the decline of this product.
Growing up in my family you had Bean boots, a Bean bag (the canvas boat tote), and a Bean shirt (a chamois shirt), so I've been wearing these things since I was in first grade and my dad's stained chamois shirt became my art smock.
For decades I relied on my chamois shirt to wear doing barn chores, to keep off a chilly breeze, and be standing by in the back seat of my car.
Unfortunately I have to advise returning customers to stay away from this impostor (unless and until the prior quality is revived, hopefully soon!!) because the material is so light weight and flimsy its more like a normal flannel shirt. LL Bean already sells plenty of great flannel shirts- we don't need to water down the chamois model for that.
Too bad they don't have a men's XXS because the guys still get to enjoy the sturdier material in their version. Here's for equality in product toughness!

My shirt just came today, and I wondered if it might be the men's version (long, large cuffs and buttons far apart). It's a beautiful red, and nice looking shirt. Do wish it were thicker, but it's still thicker than the regular flannel.

Had a chamois shirt years ago and loved it although it was very thick. The new one is wonderful not quite as heavy duty as the mens so more flattering for women. My only complaint is I listened to the other reviews and bought large assuming it would shrink. It shrunk minimally, and as you wear it it eases out again. It looks fine as a jacket shirt but I will buy another one in a Med for a better fit. I have found I am a medium in all of LLBean clothes and should have stuck to it

I ordered the grey this year. I have 3 from previous years. I can't
believe how much thinner this shirt is. It feels like a cotton shirt.
What happened to the heavier better quality shirts I have from
previous and last year.
