Rated 5 out of 5 by Cumquatm Love this sweater
This is the second Kingfield lambswool sweater I have purchased and I have loved both of them. This time I got the Tidal blue in a 2X and I am nuts about this color, and am the envy of other ladies in my office. I work in an office which is so cold people wear long underwear! I usually wear a 2X and I agree with others that it runs a little big, however it works for me as I hate layering and this sweater is heavy and soft enough that I can wear it by itself and still be toasty warm. Next winter I will definitely buying other colors. Thanks once again LL Bean for hitting a homer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by BeansRegular 4 stars due to sizing only
Even though I have been an LLBean customer for over 30 years, this is the first Kingfield Sweater (lambswool) that I have ever ordered. My 4 star rating has to do with the sizing. I am a true XS--5'7", 115lbs.--wear sl smaller than a 4 at LLBean and perfectly fit in 2 at LLBean Signature. I wanted this sweater in the dark green, as I have really green eyes. The only XS that were left were in petite, and knowing that sometimes petite run even smaller in diameter than misses equivalent sizes, I ordered the XS petite. The arms, which many reviewers said were long, are almost long enough in the petite, sort of a bracelet length which would be OK if the rest fit well. The sweater looks short and very wide, however, when I put it on, it comes to just below the top of my hip bones, so the length would be OK. The width is not acceptable. I measured an additional approximately 8 inches in extra diameter. The only time that may be acceptable is in a tunic length sweater than is thin enough to be belted! On me this just looks wrong! Sleeves slightly short, body belled out at my upper hip level. I have a feeling that even if I could get my hands on a dark green in XS regular, this would still be too wide to look good.
As far as the quality of the sweater goes, the knit quality and appearance is gorgeous (which will make it even harder to eventually send it back for return). The pattern is meticulous, the white is a true white, not a light green as some have mentioned. Even though I am very sensitive to wool, this sweater is absolutely itch-free for me. It still would not have had much skin contact because, if I need to wear a sweater this warm, I'm going to have long sleeves under it.
The beautiful metal buttons are also attached very firmly on my sweater. I must comment on those who actually rated this sweater down to 2 or 3 stars because of loose buttons only--buttons are attached as a final step in a sweater and do not reflect the quality of the yarn or the knitting. When one purchases an item of clothing, it makes sense to check things like button attachment, and other possibly loose items (such as tie belts) before the item is worn out of the house. Everyone should be able to firm up the stitching on a few buttons with a few quick stitches. These quality items are NOT worth rating the sweater down to 2 stars. Besides that, LLBean has the most awesome customer service, and would be able to send you more buttons if you lost any. They also do repair services and if you really cannot sew on buttons, they will most likely do so and send the item back to you (you need to send it in for repair or bring it in to a store for repair--I have used this service several times in the past and they do quite the amazing job, or just replace the item if it cannot be repaired).
For now, I will be very sad the day I take this sweater to be returned. I will be hoping that next year's sweaters will be more size appropriate, or that a new XXS size will be available.

Rated 2 out of 5 Quality Issue
Originally bought a large and returned it for a medium. I was shipped another large. Returned it and finally got the medium (also got charged $6 for shipping). This was a Christmas gift and she finally got to wear it today (end of January) and in the first 15 minutes two buttons have fallen off. I'd return it again, but can't stand the pain, will just reattach them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CJSilver Heavy, warm and roomy
I do not like sweaters that are too short, so despite people writing that the sweater is on the larger size, I went for the 3X. My purpose: not to freeze in the drafty office. For this it will be great.
The whole cardigan is heavy, really good material. The shape is straight and not fitted, and so it is a bit on the large side. However, it allows me to move. It is roomy enough for a long sleeve shirt or even sweater underneath.
Love the make and the material.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SUshopper very nice
Nice finishing and buttons. I ordered the petite and the sleeves were a little long, but at least there was a petite. The yarn is comparable to a worsted wool done at a tight gauge so the sweater is dense and very warm. The red is a nice deep neutral red with cream. Not a true Norwegian type, but very nice.

I ordered this sweater last year in Tidal Blue! It became my favorite sweater instantly and continues to be my favorite this year. This sweater runs true to size with plenty of room for a matching turtleneck. I wear a matching blue, white and dark charcoal grey as well. I am 5'4 and weigh 121-125 lbs. I usually wear a size small and ordered this sweater in a Size Small. It is the perfect length and looks great with jeans. Warm! It is perfect for those frigid winter days walking the beaches on Cape Cod. On a warm winter day, I don't even need a coat. This sweater is quality made. The buttons on mine are very secure. Like I said, it's been worn for a good year now and will be worn for many years to come! I love the Tidal Blue color ... it's so Cape Cod! Thank you L.L. Bean for a great classic!

Rated 2 out of 5 by chefbon Poor finishing touches
I received this sweater for Christmas. I always liked it in the store, very warm and beautiful. But 2 buttons fell off the first 2 times I wore it and the rest were very loose. I sewed them all on tightly and now all is well. But I feel for the price, these finishing touches are important and should have been done better. I didn't want to take it back, it only took 15 minutes to sew them on, but I would have hoped a Bean product was finished better then this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sundiva Upscale casual ,soft & not scratchy
Fell in love with a dark blue & black version of this 2-3 years ago. Runs large enough so I could use an XL. Trim on neck ,front with metal buttons, lower edge & cuffs dresses up this sweater to function like a jacket with the right top. Sweater is not scratchy like some wool so I can comfortably wear with a sleeveless top . Thinking of adding another in a different color. Design goes all the way around ....quality sweater.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Pinecrest Where's the white yarn in the green sweater?
I ordered the dark green Kingfield wool sweater, in a woman's size range. Fit is as described by others...great as a loose sweater or a light jacket. Love the pattern, but all of the yarns that appear white in the photo are actually light green in my sweater, as if I had washed it and the dark green ran into the white. (I haven't washed it.) I won't send it back but wonder if others have found the same effect in the dark green version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mississpippi My beautiful new holiday sweater!
My new Kingfield sweater arrived just in time for Christmas (thanks for the super-fast shipping!), and I LOVE it! I read a number of the reviews left by others regarding size before I bought mine, and decided to go with the petite small (I am 5'4.5" and 125 lbs.). It fits perfectly! The sleeves cover my wrists, and the length is just right.. Because I am a fiber artist, I always notice the little details, and this sweater is finished as meticulously as I would do myself. Bravo!
