Rated 5 out of 5 by LLBeanCustomer111 Great for NE winters in the city!
First thing to know is that my hands are always cold.
I have been wearing a pair of these mittens every winter day in the city for the past 8 years or so and I cannot be happier with the warmth and comfort they provide!
However, for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing (3-hour long outings) they did not provide enough warmth for my hands and I needed to either insert hand warmers or use different gloves.

Soft, warm inside and a good fit. More fill than in a previous LL Bean's pair for added heat retention?good for hands that run cool even when active. True to size in Medium. Good value!

These are going back! I live in Minnesota. It was 23 degrees when I drove to work today. My hands were cold! There is absolutely no down on the palm side of the mittens, nor is there any filling in the thumbs. Boo hiss. What were they thinking? Maybe these would be OK for a cold snap in Florida, but for the standard midwestern winter, these are inferior.

Great color (blue), lovely mittens, but too small although I ordered Large. It might help to include diameter of hand just above thumb in describing the sizes. I hate to have to return these.

These mittens are exactly what I needed for walking the dog on a cold day. Or, taking out the trash, running to the grocery store or other errands. They are very warm. I wouldn't use them for skiing or anything where you are handling something. I doubt they are durable enough for this. I ordered the large as it was the only size left in black. I normally would order a size medium but I am happy that they only had large left because they fit perfectly. The medium would have been too small. I recommend you order a size up.

I love these mittens so far! They have kept my hands warm in -8*F weather for my walk to work. They seem to be well made and are very soft on the inside. Highly recommend!

My hands get very cold very easily, and I was searching for something to keep them warm even in very cold weather. I am going to have to keep searching--these were no better than anything else I already own, so I will be returning them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by KayakingKid At last, warm mittens
Okay, I confess in advance that the mittens only just arrived this evening, so I have not yet tried them out on a walk. However, they FIT perfectly (size M), are a crisp colorful blue, and cinch at my wrist so the cold air should not creep up through any gaps (because there are no gaps.) All that remains to be seen is how warm the down is. These will be my first down mittens, and I have high expectations. If you don't see another review from me in the next few days, it means they quite lived up to my warmth expectations!

These mittens have kept my hands warm for short periods of time (less than an hour) in near zero temperatures. My hands did get cold holding a snow shovel with temps in the twenties. The down is great insulation on the back but not so good when compressed in the palm. I would like to see a mitten with down for the back of the hand and really warm fleece for the palm.

18 degrees above zero today. Hands toasty warm first mile walking, thumbs got a trifle cool after. Otherwise, super!
