Rated 5 out of 5 by ECSF LOVE this coat - warm AND dry
This is a terrific coat: very warm but lightweight and not at all bulky, and totally waterproof. Even the hood works well (no blocked side vision) if you tuck the tabs into the slots on the collar.
This is the second winter I've worn it, and with the unusually bitter cold and snow we've had here in DC, it's been great. It's also kept me dry on a couple of "sideways rain" days.
I've noticed a few people complain about the pockets, but the smaller set is perfect for my keys and Metro card, and the larger fleece-lined ones are just the right height for my hands.
The coat also washes beautifully - it comes out looking like new.

Rated 4 out of 5 by walkingfool2 great coat except
The coat is warm and fits well (it's straight cut instead of slim fit) but I wish the shell were more waterproof. It's not good in a heavy rain or wet snow. Please make it with a more waterproof shell. I would like to add that the coat is nice and warm (great for a Rhode Island winter).

I am returning the coat...Love the color. It fits well MPetite ( I am 5'4 and about 118 lbs).Coat is not warm enough for me with the nylon inside.
Circumference is great for sitting in car, etc.
Lower pockets are not large enough and will not wear well putting keys in and out. - they should be lined and side entry option
Hood is not very functional - doesnt fasten around neck for extra warmth. I am disappointed and having difficulty finding a good warm coat that is not down - I thought I would try as some years ago I had one with thinsulate and plaid flannel inside - it was very warm

Rated 5 out of 5 by Echosail THis is a wonderful coat
This coat is a perfect fit, warm, and a nice style. There have been comments in other reviews about the pocket placement. But the hand warmer pockets are actually where it's comfortable to use them?.usually they are too low. And the lower pockets are great with the flap - a smartphone or small camera is protected nicely and won't fall out. Neither will your keys. I like big pockets so I can do groceries without carrying a purse. And the zipper works without hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdoorsAllDay This is the length I've been waiting for!
This is the long version of the DX H2OFF parka, which I also purchased, and which I reviewed - so all my positive comments I made about it apply to this coat, and because I was a little disappointed with the 30" length (in medium) of the short version, THIS coat is heaven-sent! It's a full 42" long (in medium), and so fully covers my thighs (as it covers the models' thighs in the photos.) The hem comes to the bottom of my knees. The zipper starts high enough that it's not a problem to get started. We've had terrible winds and 20-degree temps here in NH lately, and I've been extremely happy to be so thoroughly protected as I clean my barn and walk my dog in the woods. Fortunately, the coat is not nearly as tight-fitting around the legs as it appears to be in the photos; I'm not a bit impeded when I walk fast. It doesn't have a streamlined, "fashion-statement" look, but then how could it and still be roomy enough for layering? The light mocha color is exactly that - coffee with lots of cream. (LOTS)

Rated 5 out of 5 by shoppergirl2 Great coat
Love it, warm, dry, excellent fit.. My only wish/complaint is the top entry pockets since I find side pockets are easier but I can live with that and I ordered and love it.

This coat is comfortable, lightweight and waterproof, but does not keep me as warm as I thought it would. I have the blue color and have received compliments on how nice the coat looks.

Rated 3 out of 5 by fracturedwrists Insulated Black Storm Coat
This coat is very functional, though not awfully attractive. I bought it because I am allergic to down and had a hard time finding a warm coat of this sort lined with thinsulate. It fits well and I expect to wear it for a long time.

Light weight, warm storm coat. Not as roomy (for extra layers) as I'm used to, but its warm enough and wind resistant that more layers are not needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NYC88Countrygirl Disappointing Cut and Qualtity
I have shopped with LL Bean for more decades than I like to remember, and I have always been able to trust the company for consistency in quality, construction and style. This year I have been disappointed.
This coat was totally bizarre for me: the 'handwarmer' pocket opening was placed between 2 and 3 inches from the base of the armhole, as a result, it basically placed my hands over my breasts (and no, they haven't fallen or drooped, the pockets are in a simply strange place)!
The other pockets are placed in the most unflattering position, right in front of each thigh, and those are not-insulated pockets.
Overall, I found the cut of the coat strange: I know many women have reported that the arms were too big, but for me, they were slim cut, and while I was able to layer, it was not comfortable.
Perhaps most important, it just wasn't as warm as I expected it to be. I actually feel bad giving an LL Bean item such a bad review, but this coat was not designed for an american woman (5'6", 155 lb). I don't know whose proportions this was made for, but certainly not for me or any of my friends who are of a similar size.
Please don't skimp on quality, LL Bean, we need you!
