This bears no resemblance to LL Bean's sweaters I've purchased in years past. Neither soft, thick nor warm. Further, the cuffs and waistband were totally stretched out after a couple of hours wearing....and this is not due to the size of my husband as I purchased the sweater a tad large for him---but due to poor knitting and/or a poor grade of wool..

I have owned one of these sweaters in dark brown for several years and love it. For my birthday this year, I asked for one in navy and received it as a gift from my wife. As a graduate student, I am constantly looking for versatile clothing that looks professional but is comfortable enough for long days that include a wide array of activities. These sweaters are perfect. The fit is trim and flattering while remaining very comfortable. The wool is extremely soft and smooth, and a perfect, highly breathable, medium weight. (I wore one of these under a lab coat and a lead x-ray apron for over an hour and didn't get too warm or sweaty.)
I can't recommend these sweaters highly enough. They look great with everything from nice jeans to dress pants, and they are offered in tall to assure the right fit. I just wish that they were still available in dark green and charcoal grey. If they were, I would order another today.

Very happy with the fit of this sweater. I would describe it as a semi-athletic fit. Makes me look in-shape. For me it looks best with a pair of jeans and a light layer t-shirt underneath.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pshaw Great fitting sweater
I bought this for my 17 y/o son, who's 6'3" and weighs about 140 (yeah, "bean-pole"). DW is a schoolteacher and told me, "None of the kids wear wool sweaters...don't even bother. And he's tall and thin; you'll never get the size right." Well, I went ahead and bought him a medium tall sweater, hoping for the best.
Outcome: Better than I could have hoped. It fits beautifully. He wore it all day and thanked me several times for his new favorite sweater. The sleeves are just long enough and he loves how soft the fabric is...no complaints about itchy/scratchy fabric.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MissGretel So disappointing!
My husband already has two of these sweaters, which he loves. He has worn one so much that it has a hole in the elbow. That's why I ordered him a new one for Christmas, in the same size as his others (L Reg). What a shock on Christmas morning when he tried it on and found the sleeves more than an inch too short! Also, the sweater is longer in the front than in the back (really?). I went online to look for a "Tall" to replace it and found that all but one color (which I don't like) is sold out! Needless to say, I'm sending this one back, but that leaves my husband without his Christmas present. Not what I expect from LLBean.

Rated 3 out of 5 by BigBadDave Kind of Skimpy
While I like that the ll bean lambswool sweaters are not too bulky, I think they've gone a little too far towards skimpy over the years. I have two brand new sweaters that seem thinner than past lambswool sweaters...and they smell so bad that I'll have to clean them before wearing. I believe wool is the only way to go for a cold winter's night...but try to beef them up in the future. Shoot for somewhere between where they are now, and the ragwool sweaters which are much more substantial, but not as soft.

This sweater is sized perfectly. You can wear it with or without a collared shirt underneath without worrying about it being too constrictive. The sleeve length is spot-on. The fabric is soft and not itchy at all! The styling allows you to wear this in multiple social situations. I highly recommend this sweater!

Rated 2 out of 5 by Kris2 Quality on Lambswool Sweater has gone down
The quality on the Lambswool sweaters has gone down significantly versus a couple of years ago. My husband had two lambswool sweaters from 2011 that he absolutely loved and wore almost daily during the winter. The quality and fit (Med Tall) were superb. Given his high satisfaction, we purchased some additional colors a few weeks ago. The difference in quality and fit is extremely noticeable. The wool is starting to pill, the fabric is thinner, the length of the sleeves is an inch shorter at least. Very disappointing. We are returning the sweaters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Goodhue Bulky It's Not
Bean's Lambwool Sweater is the best of the sweaters LL Bean sells. (Excluding the exorbanantly priced Cashmere Sweater# I just bought my 3rd of this season. It fits nicely over a dress shirt and is rather warm considering that is light-weight. I had read some reviews here complaing that this year's version is much thinner and lighter than those in the past but I've been so pleased with those I've bought from Bean in the past that I ordered one anyway. When my Deepwater Blue #new color) sweater arrived I noticed right away that it was indeed lighter/thinner so I went to my closet, pulled out an oldie and compared. It seems that older sweater had a thin sweatshirt-like polyester lining on the inside, which the new one doesn't have. That probably would account for the heavier feel of the older sweater. At any rate,I've worn the new ones a number of times and have been very pleased. It kept me warm outside without being bulky, and I was able to wear it inside without being uncomfortable throughout the weekend I recently spent in Atlantic City.I also own a Bean Shetland Crew and a Raggwool Henley but for a few extra bucks, this is definitely the best of the wool sweaters that LL Bean offers.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Killy Actual color is way off
The colors do not run true...I ordered the Harbor Green color and it was a lot lighter than I was expecting. More of a (med-mint green) color. Aside from that, it's warm and very comfortable without being itchy at all for a lambswool sweater. Although it is expensive, I think It's a good investment for the quality. Just be aware that the color of the sweater you pick will not look the same as it does on the internet pictures.
