Rated 2 out of 5 by Kris2 Quality on Lambswool Sweater has gone down
The quality on the Lambswool sweaters has gone down significantly versus a couple of years ago. My husband had two lambswool sweaters from 2011 that he absolutely loved and wore almost daily during the winter. The quality and fit (Med Tall) were superb. Given his high satisfaction, we purchased some additional colors a few weeks ago. The difference in quality and fit is extremely noticeable. The wool is starting to pill, the fabric is thinner, the length of the sleeves is an inch shorter at least. Very disappointing. We are returning the sweaters.

Bean's Lambwool Sweater is the best of the sweaters LL Bean sells. (Excluding the exorbanantly priced Cashmere Sweater# I just bought my 3rd of this season. It fits nicely over a dress shirt and is rather warm considering that is light-weight. I had read some reviews here complaing that this year's version is much thinner and lighter than those in the past but I've been so pleased with those I've bought from Bean in the past that I ordered one anyway. When my Deepwater Blue #new color) sweater arrived I noticed right away that it was indeed lighter/thinner so I went to my closet, pulled out an oldie and compared. It seems that older sweater had a thin sweatshirt-like polyester lining on the inside, which the new one doesn't have. That probably would account for the heavier feel of the older sweater. At any rate,I've worn the new ones a number of times and have been very pleased. It kept me warm outside without being bulky, and I was able to wear it inside without being uncomfortable throughout the weekend I recently spent in Atlantic City.I also own a Bean Shetland Crew and a Raggwool Henley but for a few extra bucks, this is definitely the best of the wool sweaters that LL Bean offers.

The colors do not run true...I ordered the Harbor Green color and it was a lot lighter than I was expecting. More of a (med-mint green) color. Aside from that, it's warm and very comfortable without being itchy at all for a lambswool sweater. Although it is expensive, I think It's a good investment for the quality. Just be aware that the color of the sweater you pick will not look the same as it does on the internet pictures.

I am a big fan of LL Bean and have bought many things over the years. However, I bought two of these lambswool sweaters and the color is quite a bit different than the color shown on the web site. I have a high-quality monitor so I don't think the colors on my monitor are off.
The navy is indistinguishable from black. I can't see any blue in it whatsoever. There is blue on the screen but not in the actual sweater.
The deepwater blue is more like an aqua. It isn't like the blue on the screen -- there is much more green in the actual sweater. (I should have been tipped off by the name, "deepwater blue.")
The quality of the sweaters seems quite good. But the colors are way off.

I am very pleased with the lambswool crewneck sweater. I particularly like the weight. It provides good warm and can be easily worn with a light jacket. It is light enough where most of the time it can be worn inside in a reasonably heated area. I also like the finish and look.

Sweater fits well and color is good. But the fabric feels rather thin and less substantial than other Bean lambswool sweaters I have had in the past. I hope it will wear well -- time will tell. If it does not, it will not have been a good value, because it was fairly expensive. A Bean shetland wool sweater that I also bought recently is much more substantial and less expensive.

This was for a fourteen year old boy for Christmas. He loves it! It is a great weight for school. Fits well and washable!! Size was mens small.
A happy Grandmother.

This is my third L.L.Bean Lambswool Crewneck Sweater. They just don't wear out, I have had the other two for 6 years now; and while they have been relegated to work sweaters they still will look fine with a pair of Levi's and a button down. These sweaters will wear like Iron!

This is a nice sweater with a close weave. I love the color. It is fine for casual dress indoors for meetings, parties, etc. It is not heavy enough to provide a lot of warmth for really cold outdoors. Since wool sweaters are not easy to find and I had some LLB discounts, this was a reasonable value.
