Rated 4 out of 5 by BeanBoot100 Almost Perfect
Ordered these back in Apr/May and they just came in. I knew the demand was nuts and they were on backorder when I placed it so I expected the wait. I was ordering more for fall/winter 2015. I already own another pair of 11" Bison Bean Boots so these were a shorter slip on option or better commuting option/walking the dog when its a little nasty out and you are not walking in a foot of snow/water.
I love em. One thing is funny though, the opening to put my foot in is very tight. Size 12's (normal shoe size 13). Once my foot is in, they fit perfect, but the opening up at the top of the boot is very tight, you end up folding over the back and then pulling it back up when your foot is finally planted.
Seems like this could be solved easily with slightly different stitching around the upper to leave the opening just a touch wider. Other than that, can't wait to wear them 4-5 days a week.

I am female and decided this is the pair of Bean Boots I wanted. I already own a pair of the 10? shearling lined boots which are great for very cold and snowy days but I wanted something smaller and lighter to just wear with jeans, etc. I decided the 6? would be best as it was most different from the 10? I already own. The regular 6? Bean Boots only come in the tan/brown now. I really love navy blue and when I saw these Maine Hunting Shoes in Navy/Brown I knew they were the pair for me. It took 3 tries and I have been order and waiting since May (4 months.) Yesterday I received them in the size 8 and yay, they fit. For reference I am a women?s size 10 and the 8 worked for me. As other reviewers have mentioned the tongue is sewn in these and it makes it extremely difficult to get your foot into. I think if I wear not too heavy of a sock I should be fine and hopefully the canvas part of them will stretch over time. I don?t think they are the most practical choice of the Bean Boot product line but these are so cute!

Rated 5 out of 5 by CarolinaGamecock Stylish and comfortable!
Great gumshoes that are stylish and comfortable. Only issue is the tongue which is stitched to the sides of the shoe is somewhat tight for my wide foot. Had to use a shoe horn but I think with time the material will loosen enough to avoid using the horn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Toddfish very comfy, wide toe box, great for my wide feet
Just got my second pair, first pair was too small at the entry of the
boot where the tongue is sewn to the top of the boot. I own the 10''
boot as well but bought it in a 9. normally wear a 10 to 10.5 The
sizing chart they go by works for the taller boots but the opening is
smaller on the 6'' boot. That is the only issue with this boot, other than that this boot rocks! The boots are well constructed as is every thing I have ever gotten from LL Bean

Rated 2 out of 5 by LEGALBEAGLEWAREAGLE1 TOO WIDE AT HEEL
This is the only product I ever bought from Bean that was less than satisfactory. The overall quality on this boot is fine. But the back of the boot is too loose and does not make for a good fit. It slips way too easily.
Everything else I ever bought at BEAN is superior.

Rated 1 out of 5 by LEGALBEAGLEWAREAGLE1 POOR FIT
My overall experience with LL BEAN is very great. However, these canvas upper boots fail to meet the normal standards of excellence I have had with Bean.
The heel on the canvas model is awfully loose and the boot slips around like a loafer too wide. I had a shoe repair shop sew a pad in the back of the heel to make it fit; and while much better, it still is not quite right. My strong recommendation is to stay with the leather Bean boots. They are fantastic!
The canvas just ain't the same !

The shoe is great and looks great. The Fitting is as describe if you wear thin to medium thick socks then a 1/2 size smaller.

Rated 4 out of 5 by GT3Guy Great looking but hard to get in
I didn't follow the size guide and ordered my regular size. It was roomy but fine, however.... as others mentioned, the tongue of the boot is sewn together with the rest of the boot so it's tough to put your foot in. Also, these are not winter boots so your feet will get cold. Consider yourself warned. You want warm boots, get the thinsulate/gore tex version. These just look way cool so I'll deal.

On November 7 of this year I hiked Mt. Le Conte in the smoky mountains a 6,0000+ ft. mountain. The terrain varied from snow to mud, ice, ice covered rocks, flat to severe incline, there were creeks to cross over and several temperature changes. I figured I would put my Maine hunting shoes to the test with a 35/40 pound pack on. I must say they passed with flying colors, my feet were dry and warm the entire hike and I finished the hike with no blisters or pain of any kind. I wore thick wool socks with them. These shoes don't offer a lot of ankle support but I had no problems going up or down, I also wore them walking around town weeks before and days after and have yet to experience and sort of discomfort. If you have a large body frame to carry around these may not be for you, but if you are average athletically built body frame you could go anywhere in these shoes.
