Rated 4 out of 5�by SheWhoHikesWithDog The Solution We Needed I had purchased the Thule Hitch Mount vertex 9029 4 bike carrier and was unable to securely load my sons' mountain bikes because the frames weren't wide enough. The frame adapter hooks under the seat (around the post) and around the handle bar post to give the frame more room enabling it to fit easier on the rack. I did not have any problem with the actual adapter gates swinging open and find it quite easy to use and the perfect solution to use our existing carrier. May 27, 2013

It is designed to go from the handle bars to the seat post but at it's shortest length, the bar slips down the handle bar post and rests on my paint, which will only scratch it up. If it doesn't fit an average sized women's bike, how is it expected to fit a child's bike? Additionally, one of the two arms that swing open was extremely difficult to close. August 11, 2012

Rated 3 out of 5�by orlohulock Works, but can be a little difficult This adapter bar is sturdy and easily adjustable. The difficulty with it is that the "gates" which swing up to allow it to be placed on the bike are stiff and take an excessive amount of pressure to move. A liberal spray of WD-40 helped mine considerably, but the gates are still stiffer than they should be for easy operation. Nevertheless, the product works as intended and is sturdily built.
