This is one awesome bike. It is my first folder, yet except for the actual folding, it feels like a regular bike.
Why a folder? The ease of use: fold it up in apartment or at work, load it into the car, no need for a bike rack. I know myself: if I can toss it in the car, I will wind up riding more. Make no mistake - at 31 lbs. it is no lightweight, but it IS portable.
I am a novice recreational/commuter rider. Like others, I rode bikes constantly as a kid, then stopped - because the bikes I had as an adult were no fun to ride.
Enter Espresso. This darn thing is SO much fun to ride. If my other bikes had felt this way I would hardly have a car (except that I live in the Northeast. So, winter...). The option of three frame sizes makes it easy to get a good fit - the most comfortable bike I have ridden from a fit perspective. At 5'2", the small is perfect.
I use this for riding around town, commuting to/from work, and recreational rides through parks and on bike paths/trails. I do NOT use this for off road or full-on trail riding. I added a back rack: Dahon makes racks for their 20" and 24"-wheeled bikes, but does NOT make a rack for the Espresso. Instead, with 26" wheels, stock racks from your local bike shop will fit. I would like to order the wire mesh front basket from LLBean - but unclear whether it can work on the Dahon handlebars w/ Axis (tm) stem (anyone who proofreads this post - can you advise?)
After only a few days, I am hooked: when I finish one ride, I can hardly wait for another.

Bought this because I live in a small flat and needed something to fit in the closet and not be a towel rack. Wow - not only does it fold compactly, it rides better than any bike I've had (10 speed and mountain bike). It seems lighter than 31 pounds - I can get it up 2 flights of stairs with no problem. Started with 15 min. rides and yesterday I did a 10 mile trail ride - seat is comfortable, and as the gears get broken in, shifts easily. Rides well over asphalt and/or dirt without feeling unstable. Brakes are responsive and no pulling to one side. Had it shipped to a store and they put it together for me and gave me some instructions - they really knew their stuff. Best of all, it fit in my Prius with just folding from the center - no bike rack! Highly recommend this bike - is perfect for either commuting or riding for fun.

Rides well and folds well. Great portable bike. Carefully follow the instructions for finishing the assembly though.

Love this folding bike, this model comes in three sizes depending on your height, and I chose the smallest despite the fact Im 5'5" (not so small). Salesperson was very helpful in explaining and demonstrating the features and folding mechanism. All worked exactly as demonstrated, easy to fold up and open again. It fits in my trunk, or in my back seat when the trunk has been full.
I've had good fun with it these last couple weeks when I can find a 40 degree plus day (3 so far) after work. C'mon Spring!
