Came folded & rolled. Required a lot of work with a steam iron to get the brim in shape. I reckon the fold in the crown will never go away. Crown will never take a pinch like a proper fedora. Does not come in discrete hat sizes but small, medium, large, etc. Not so good if you are between sizes. Good felt but not great. A throw-back, very popular with back-packers in the 1970s.

Exactly that: a classic favorite! My 1st one went to Philmont Scout Ranch in NM four times. In cold or snow or rain or sun, it simply worked, did what a hat must do. It lasted about 20 years till I retired it out of respect. The new one I just received is every bit as comfortable. Durable.Timeless! Dependable! Perfect!
A great value at twice the price.

This is a simple yet elegant hat. I have the red one and the "putty" color. I am frequently complimented on my hat, especially the red one.
One aside: what they call putty is really more like a light soft brown that is way more attractive than what is shown on the website.
The hats are warm and offer ample protection in bad weather. With time they conform well to your head. If the hat gets out of shape just use the steam iron, with lots of steam, to remove the creases. When ironing protect the hat by placing a towel over the part that you are going to iron.
One last note: I had one of these hats many years ago and it lasted for five years. I suppose it would have lasted many more if I hadn't lost it. These new ones are every bit as good as the one from all those years ago.

This hat is amazing. While walking in a full downpour, water streaming off my coat, hat protecting my head, I tipped my head a a deluge poured off the brim. My head was warm and dry. The hat performed perfectly. It's a great hat!
Comfortable, waterproof and warm!

Maybe if the band were red it wouldn't look quite so much like a Leprechaun's hat.

I've had my green wool crusher hat for over 10 years. It gets better with age. It breaks the wind, keeps my head warm and perfect for soggy days. A good long term investment for comfort!

I am so happy to have this hat! It is a replacement for one I bought from L.L. Bean years ago. That one was navy blue, had a rounded crown, was offered in a women's catalog and was shipped to me in a box, not rolled up. But even so, and green of color, this one seems to be very much the same. I misted it with water and shaped it so the brim was not wavy and I stuffed the crown with plastic bags to make it round on top. And I'm not going to roll it up again.
I get compliments when I wear the green one now and I got compliments wearing the first, blue one. One time, in a grocery store, a man asked me where I bought it. His wife had sent him over to ask this question of me. That made my day!

I got a hat from you 15 years ago, it has and continues to be pressed into service by me. But I ordered a new hat and was surprised that it came in a small plastic bag rolled up! When I opened it up and tried to put it on it just returned to its crinkled shape on my head and looked ridiculous. Now I know that i could have made it wet and shaped it. but that is not what I should have to do. My last hat came in a box and was wearable immediately.

Just as good as the one I had 40 years ago. Comfortable and practical. Glad to have one again!

Same hat, red, older one green, is large enough to be comfortable. A rare feat. Strange part is that it is red...I am red/green color blind.
