Rated 5 out of 5 by 18497 Potential anoyance with game bag zippers
While I haven't actually used this vest I found the game bag zippers to have a little bit of a learning curve.
If you do not have the zipper "pull" pointing down the zipper will not stay up.
If the zipper pull is pointing upwards a small amount of tension on both sides will force the slider all the way to the bottom. A significant problem considering it's a game bag and will be stuffed full of birds on a regular basis.
To me it will be a nagging reminder to constantly check my zipper position. That's something I never thought I would have to worry about.
I need to mention this is a quality vest and I think I am going to enjoy it a lot.

I'm 6ft...210lbs...... I would normally wear an XL in a top....I purchased the XL/XXL in the vest ....it was way too big...I sent it back and got the M/L.... fits perfect!!!!!!!!

My wife purchased a vest for me after I already bought this one. I sent this vest back but the quality was very nice. 2 things I would like LL Bean to change is the button pocket. It's just hard to get in to. The vest came with Velcro straps for your shoulders which made it easy to adjust but pretty much everything I've owned with Velcro never last. Once dirt gets on it the Velcro eventually will quit sticking.

Rec'd as a thoughtful gift from a non-hunter but after trying to get it to fit for an hour decided to return it. Am 6' and 195 and rec'd a size M/L vest. When buckled at my waist the bulky foam strap interfered with gun mount and the built in foam back felt stiff and awkward. The vest was also difficult to take off, has a lot of stuff to hang up on brush and weighs about twice as much as my old llbean vest which is still going strong after probably 10 years. Just going to keep that one.

I went with this based on other reviews as I was looking for something other than my traditional vest. Something less bulky. This vest delivers. It has a nice heavy oiled canvas. It fits well, I am 6' 2" and 200 lbs. I went with the med/large. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the amount of space for holding shells. They only have 4 in each pocket, the rest of your shells need to just sit at the bottom. I like the double rows in each pocket of my traditional vest. A minor point, but it would make the product a 5 star in my opinion.

The Strap vest is the perfect vest for the way I hunt, it fits over the coat on the cold days and it great by itself on the warm days.

L. L. would have never offered this as a hunting vest. It looks like something you would wear in warehouse to protect your back. The thing that holds the straps together is thick and cumbersome. I can't imagine mounting a gun over it. It is going back.

I bought this because I needed to upgrade most of my upland clothing for this coming season.. When I first saw this I knew I wanted it and I'm sure glad I jumped on it. This vest is just wonderful, more than enough room and very well constructed The back support strap makes the vest sit right on your hips so it never sags with added weight while in the field.
You can tell that when this was designed, they wanted to make it right.. well they got it.
Thanks for a fabulous product.. again!

Not a bad vest. Well made, and while at first I was not crazy about a button pocket, it actually does keep things from falling out in the field when you bend over. The button is on the middle corner, so you can still get your hand in it without unbuttoning it.
I am a regular 38 and the med/large (smallest one they make) is still too big even with the straps at their shortest if worn just over a shirt. BUT, I bought this to wear over a coat that has no hunter orange on it, so it will work great!!!
Wish Bean would look into a tincloth/oilcloth version of this.
