Rated 5 out of 5 by Intuit Exactly what I wanted
I had searched around for a women's red plaid wool jacket for sometime. I thought I would have to buy a man's jacket. This is a warm, woodsy, unbulky jacket that I love. I ordered one size larger to accommodate wearing a sweater and was not disappointed. The PrimaLoft makes it warm without a bulky fit. Reminds me of my dad's hunting jacket when I was a child.

This is an awesome jacket so well made and comfortable
I loved everything about this jacket.
I have been searching for a jacket like this for a long time
unfortunately I am a petite person 5 ft. 110#
and even the small jacket was way to big in everyway.
I am so disappointed because I had to return it.
I hope sometime in the future this jacket will be available in petite sizes for us smaller ladies!!!!

Heavy, comfortable for wearing for long periods of time, lots of pickets, roomy for extra layers, I'm on the short side, 5'2", and the small hangs a little low and the sleeves are long when my arms are down, zippered sleeves make mitten wearing easy, haven't worn in winter weather yet, so I can't judge it's effectiveness against the cold.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Wyoyo Just what I was looking for!
I was looking for a wool coat for winter and was delighted to find it at LLBean. Great look and it should be wonderfully warm when the weather turns cold. Some reviewers complained about the scratchiness of the wool collar - it's wool. I know how it feels. I also know it's warm - that's why I ordered a wool coat! I always wear a scarf in the winter, so this won't be a problem. Now I'm ready for the cold and wind that we get here in Wyoming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by esch0034 Great, versatile coat
I've been looking for a warm, dog-walking jacket for the last few years, and was SO excited when I stumbled across this beauty. It's not only SO warm, functional, and easy to move in--but is also incredibly chic and well designed. Unlike a lot of other lined wool coats, this one isn't boxy, oversized, "manly," or gape-y. I can throw on my Sorels and take the dog for a stroll, or pair it with a grey cashmere scarf and head for a fall, weekend outing without feeling cold and/or frumpy.
Also, I have to add that I'm 6'0" and this coat is LONG enough--sleeves and hips! SO rare! I ordered my usual size medium and it fit like a dream. If you have a question on your size, I'd recommend doing the online chat with customer service--they're super helpful.
So....I known it's spendy, but if you're looking for a classic, functional, warm, chic coat for the fall and early winter--this piece is totally worth the investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 Snappy-looking!
This coat fits well, is flattering, and looks original. I love the quietness of the wool! The Primaloft is cozy, lightweight and slides nicely over a sweater. Zippers on the sleeves, contrasting sections of plaid fabric, and adjustable waist elastic are all nice details. Love the generous collar that stands up--and buttons with a little plaid tab!-- if you want it to. Technically, I guess it's not waterproof, but I've worn it in steady rain, and it sheds the moisture pretty well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by HuckleberryHobo Wonderful coat
I received this just before a trip and threw it in the car at the last minute to take along - very glad I did! The coat is toasty warm and well-designed. I am tall and it covers my hips (nice and a hard feature to find!). The material is well-made and so attractive that it can be worn in outdoorsy situations but look presentable inside as well. I found the pockets to be just right and loved the sleeve length, but did find the coat ran a size smaller; I usually wear a Bean medium but from reading previous reviews ordered a large and the reviews were very helpful since I could not have worn a medium at all, not to mention over other bulky clothing. A great purchase and one I definitely won't regret.

Rated 5 out of 5 by northernchick Finally a winter coat that fits a tall girl
I'm 5'10" with long arms and torso which means I have a hard time finding a coat that fits properly. I had been searching on line for months looking for a wool winter coat that is stylish, warm, and covers my bum but yet is not too bulky-frumpy (or a men's jacket) AND has long enough sleeves. This jacket fit the bill and then some. Even in this price range, I was finding that most of the coats out there for women are for looks only, not function, which seems plain silly to me. Either that or they were too short waisted or sleeved for me. The combination of wool and primaloft in this jacket make it warm enough for WI winters without being too heavy. The collar is cute, rounded, and high, so it keeps out drafts. You can cinch in the waist with an adjustable pull cord (internal). There are TWO sets of hand warming pockets, the uppers are lined with fleece on both sides- very handy and toasty warm. This jacket has proven wind-proof and toasty without being suffocatingly hot. I couldn't be happier!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Suzen62 Perfect for Wisconsin's Northwoods Winters
I have been eye-balling this jacket for 2 years and I've finally popped. It is the same quality construction, materials and value that I've come to expect from LL Bean. It's my go to place for nearly all of my clothing. It's made for women like me who are built like "real" women. I read a lot of the reviews, as I often do before making a purchase. Didn't really have any issues with the sleeves being too long or even the pocket placement. It's just a beautiful jacket and I'm certain it will last a lifetime. I love the way this jacket looks on me and I love the way I feel wearing it. Thank you LL Bean!
PS Could you make your corduroy pants in a dark steel gray?

Rated 4 out of 5 by momindetroit Classic coat
I bought this coat last winter and wore it for many cold days. I love the look of the classic plaid and thought it made a statement. I found it runs a little large. It is quite boxy. The inner waist cord may help that. As I said I have worn this coat for a winter already and it still looks good. The previous reviewer was right - the side pockets are too far back and too awkward to use. I usually use the hand warmer and patch pockets. The collar sits a little high for me so I always wear a scarf with it because I am a little sensitive to wool. With all that said, I love this coat - it is warm and toasty and looks and wears well.
