This light works as others have already stated. This unit requires six screws be removed from the mounting bracket in order to put in the batteries. These screws require a Phillips #00 screwdriver that is very small and is a size that is not commonly found in "jewelers" sets that people can get at discount hardware stores. The screws are also initially tight to remove. I guess you could say, the batteries once in will not come out easily. The depth of the unit, including the bracket is about 1.5", so that needs to be taken into account when mounting on a small cooler. The knob is also tight to turn and requires about a 260║ turn to set to the on position. The auto position is at about 120║. The gap is unnecessarily large, although some may say you won't mistake one setting for the other. The unit is good for a larger sized cooler like a 100 quart capacity. Since screws come with the mounting bracket, that suggests attachment to something of more substantial size as well.

As others have already mentioned, this light works well to light up the inside of a cooler. What is not mentioned is that a Phillips precision #00 screwdriver (261) is necessary to get the battery compartment off which contains six screws. The typical small set of jewelers screwdrivers that come in a set that you get can at any hardware store did not fit. The screws are in tight and require a bit of strength to remove. Next, be aware that the unit sticks out about 1.5" (included the depth of the mounting bracket) from the cooler wall, not including the on/off knob. On my unit anyway, the knob was very tight to turn, making attaching the unit with screws (supplied) to the wall of the cooler a best bet. Light coverage is good inside the cooler.

We have and still use coolers. And, how many times have you been traveling, stop for a snack, it's hard to see in your cooler, got to find a flashlight to see where sandwiches are and the soda you like? This light is wonderful!

We have never used this light in a cooler. Instead we use it as a nightlight and take it traveling when you are staying in strange hotel rooms to light the way. Or in our camper van for when we get up in the middle of the night. The auto motion sensor is really sensitive and it stays on for just the right amount of time. We've tried other motion sensor nightlights, but this one is the best. The battery life is really good too. We just got 2 more, so maybe now we can put one in a cooler!

This thing works great, just like they say. Turns on and off perfectly. Nice bright light makes all the food and beverages look very appetizing.
