Rated 5 out of 5 by Guilicious Favorite Bean shirts for spring, summer, and fall
Great shirts. I have a few that are getting on at least 5 seasons of very heavy wear with no issues. They fade out and get softer the more you wear them. Sizing is perfect in my opinion. I always take an XL and these are spot on. I have some other Bean shirts that seem to run a bit small at XL, not these. I really like the feel of the fabric on these. I wear the short sleeves in the summer and long in the spring/fall. The Bean flannel is the only thing that drags me out of these in the winter. Highly recommend trying these out.

Clothes for me are primarily tools, and the ample button-flap pockets make this shirt a very useful tool; it's almost the only shirt I wear, and I just bought 3 more. I've had no problem with the colors fading, or with the fabric's being too hard. I do have a problem, however, with a favorite color capriciously disappearing from the catalog, then reappearing, and disappearing again: too often, I fail to synchronize the wearing-out of a particular shirt with the reappearance of its color!
And the reviewer who warned not to expect more than two seasons out of the shirts was right on target: holes will appear at upper pocket corners and other sewing-points where one thickness of fabric is constantly flexed against a stiff, angular, multiple-layer tack.
And this leads straight to my main gripe. I don't know how much *sun* is involved in the washing ('Sunwashed' seems an incongruous, maladroit name, meant to evoque--what, exactly?), but there's certainly a lot of abrasion involved; and I, for one, would dearly love to buy this shirt UN-sunwashed--not washed *at all*, in fact--for what Bean's supplier appears to have done is to scrub away half the useful life of the garment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by jnsdelucia Smaller size than normal
The large size has been shrunken down to a medium or less, sleeves are too short, body is tight across the shoulders - and I haven't even washed it yet.
Nice 'sunwashed' color, a coarse cloth, not soft at all. In order to obtain a typical LARGE size, i would have had to ordered an Extra-Large, Tall to get a regular fit. This must be a Malaysian Large size.
Like other dissatisfied customers, not a true size at all.

This was one of my absolute favorite shirts. Until they changed the sandstone to a beige. I ordered a few more thinking I had pushed the wrong button for color but low and behold they just flat changed the color. I even went to the Big Store when I happened to be back in Maine and a gal told me they just change it up sometimes. Even the sandstone shirts at the big store were beige. I want my color back!!!
That said. I will still order a few of the other colors because they have not changed them and the shirt wears well and is comfortable. Have had some trouble with buttons falling off but I can fix that. Just irritating.

Have bought several of these shirts. The sandstone designated color turned out to be greenish. Not even close. Was disappointed and returned the item.

Shirt is ok..but the colour is not as shown ...has more green to it.
This is the second shirt that I bought that the colour shown was not what was received. May think twice about ordering other colours besides the basic.. black, navy
Husband said to keep shirt.

I ordered another of these shirts, this time in "Bright Mariner." What I received is not bright at all--it's really a "Blue Denim" color, about the same as Bean's unwashed jeans. It sort of matches the swatch shown on the website, but not well.

My husband loves these shirts. However, don't plan on getting more than two seasons of wear. He currently has 10 of these shirts and 8 of them have developed holes in the collars or upper corners of the pockets. I think they are of poor quality for the price.
