Rated 5 out of 5 by Madhouse Very comfortable. Very Warm.
Earlier this summer, i purchased a tree stand up at the Beans store in Freeport. They had never been my thing. I'm a ground assault hunter, but this fall i was taking to the trees... Except i didn't count on it being so cold, so quickly this fall - and being 35 feet up was like being in an arctic wind tunnel. Rookie mistake. I've done cold weather survival and should have known better.
In reading prior reviews, i was a bit nervous about the sizing - as i am a big guy (6'4", 285lbs). Not to worry at all though! This was a great fit. I ordered the XXL Tall, and it's perfect. Plenty of room to move without being too baggy, and body hugging without being too tight/clingy.
And then there's the warmth factor. Once i put this jacket on, i could immediately feel my core temp starting to rise. This fleece will be a great mid-layer, but certainly will be beyond useful as an outer layer. on dry days as well. Layering is key, and i have to say that my initial impressions are that this is a purchase i will not regret at all. I also purchased the Hunter's Trail Model Fleece Pants to go with this, and I think you'd be foolish to not buy this combo. Don't let yourself be cold in a tree... No one wants to be cold in a tree.

Rated 5 out of 5 Nice fleece!
Purchased this fleece since I was looking for a blaze orange fleece jacket for hunting. First day in the field was a windy (25+ mph winds), cool (mid-30s) day, pheasant hunting. Layered the jacket over a long-sleeve button down shirt and a t-shirt. The jacket broke the wind well, and made for very comfortable walking. Gun mounting was easy, without any bunching at the shoulders. Second major test was sitting in a tree stand for 3 hours. Mild temperatures and a light wind, but one of the most comfortable times I have had in a deer stand. I wear this fleece jacket A LOT--around the house, in the field, bird or deer hunting, as well as when running my dog. I was very pleased to see that even when reaching into a brier patch, thorns and other briers do not stick to the fleece nor tear the material (one of my concerns while bird hunting thicker cover). The overall length is nice, but sometimes it feels about 1" too short, in the body. The zippered pocket holds my cell phone nicely, and is very easy to use, as well as functional. Bottom line: well made, comfortable and functional. Sizing seems accurate (I ordered a Large, and it does not seem too small or too big).

Cant ask for anything more for the price. Very light, very warm. Wish they made this in a waterproof model with a hood! This works great while bird hunting on chilly days!

Rated 2 out of 5 by ds60 Overall Unsatisfactory Quality
It's very rare that I dislike an L.L. Bean product, but this is one of those items. The overall quality is overall unsatisfactory for 2 reasons. 1. The collar will not lay flat, no matter what. In colder weather, zipping the collar all the way up would be great, but the other 99% of the time, I want a flat collar. 2. The length is too short, even for a jacket. Raising an arm or two results in the jacket riding up my torso. Otherwise, the pattern and fabric weight are fine, but that's not enough. To be fair, I intend to right some positive reviews of LLB items I've enjoyed.

As previously reviewed, I found that this fleece ran about a full size too small. Everything else was as expected, though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by TCOregon Order At least One Size Larger
I've been buying LL Bean products for over 20 years and this was the second disappointing purchase I've made recently. I always order Medium and this fleece is cut small. My wife even laid it out on the bed on top of other previously purchased LL Bean fleece tops that are Medium and you can see these are smaller. This same issue happened with a trail fleece I ordered, but the LL Bean shell I ordered to go with this was the "normal" Medium size. The quality control got this one wrong. They fit my wife just fine, so she happily took them for herself. The quality seems nice, but it is disappointing to have the variance in sizing.

This jacket will do the trick when hunting. Logo on left side of jacket is nice, blends right in with the colour. Perfect for those not so cold days. I find it is cheaply made for the price. Thought it would be thicker. Overall still satisfied.
