Bought this for our 7 year old son, who has been riding an older version of the 20 inch Ridge Runner. Because of how well this bike has held up for us, we wanted to upgrade to the newer, larger size. Though he is a little small for this 24" size, he is an excellent bike rider and can easily handle it! The aluminum frame keeps the weight of the bike down, which pleases my wife when she has to load it in and out of the van, and the trigger shifters are so much easier than the twist grips of before. It is practically impossible to find a child's bike with trigger shifting so we were very happy to see it on this bike. Having a quick adjust seat is helpful as well, as the one he was riding did not have it. This bike is capable of all terrain. He rides along with me when I go mountain biking and has no trouble at all. The tires get the job done on the mountain bike trails, but are not too aggressive so you can still enjoy a smooth road ride. I wouldn't consider the orange a true orange color. It's more of a reddish orange, and the seat definitely looks red. We are very happy with this purchase and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one for our daughter when she is ready.

We bought this 24" inch bike for our daughters' 11th b'day last week. It's her very first bike that's not a hand-me-down - w/gears and handbrakes. She learned how to "drive" it very quickly and easily. We researched and shopped at stores and found this to be the best deal - and it is! Reasonable $$, good quality and style (bought the bright orange offered - gorgeous- thank you LLBean for NOT offering the usual 'sissy' pink and purple for girls ! !). She loves it! She's 4'7" and about 72lbs. Rides it to school everyday. This will grow with her as it is adjustable. [ I'm 5'4" and w/appropriate adjustment for me, it's quite comfy.] Easy assembly at home, and comes w/ LLBean guarantee, even though it's not their "brand" = Schwinn! Yes, yes, and yes! PS - bought the Krypotonite lock as well.
