Rated 5 out of 5�by marines1and2 Swordbill hat goes fishing I gave this to my son who does a lot of fishing and he raved about the hat. He said he was able to stay out on the boat longer because his face was so protected from the sun by the longer bill. Sounds like a winner. May 15, 2013

Tried everything to straighten it out but I'm going to have to return it for another one. Like the hat, hope the next one works better. May 9, 2013

Rated 2 out of 5�by bstnh1 Maybe OK for hot weather, but that's about it. Received this cap a few days ago. Sure enough, it has a longer bill and it seems to be permanently curved with a plastic insert. But WOW is the actual hat material thin. I have never seen a cap made of material this thin. It's probably good for keeping the sun off your face during hot weather, but don't count on it providing any warmth. If you're looking for a sturdy swordbill cap, look elsewhere. This one certainly isn't worth the price. March 28, 2012

Rated 5 out of 5�by SalmonFisherman Traditional Hat a welcome find I am an older person and as "traditional" as anyone I know. I remember an earlier version of this hat with an even longer bill, that was dark green on the underside. Those have been gone for a long time, and I was happy to find this hat at Bean's. The seaming seems to provide great shaping of the crown, and the black bill makes fishing in bright sunlike easier on the eyes. The only recommendation is to make this hat in a slightly heavier fabric. The current hat is great for hot weather, but the fishing season extends beyond August. The durability is TBD as this is a recent purchase. October 28, 2011

Bought another because the patina of fish blood & sweat has cased it to be relegated to the 'fishing only' section of wardrobe. The new one fits even better. Great sun protection! August 17, 2011

The fit of the hat is very nice and smooth (rounded, no odd "corners" sticking out) and sufficiently deep. My favorite part is the longer bill. Since my husband doesn't use sunscreen regularly, anything that helps keep the sun off his skin is a great benefit. March 16, 2011
