Echoing the views of Disappointed. The rubber backing has disintegrated to the point where the jacket has become embarassing to wear. I love the jacket, it just hasn't given me the quality i have come to enjoy from LL Bean products.

Rated 4 out of 5áby cerberez Waterproof, not so breathable
This is a fine jacket for keeping the rain off.
pros: light, keeps rain off, big hood, packs into pocket
cons: sweat built up inside it (maybe it's not so breathable after all), it felt sticky and plasticky against skin, and the hood was too big for use without a hat or helmet (it partially blocked my vision and bugged the heck out of me)

This is a great rain jacket. Comfortable to wear, very waterproof, and it fits well. What more could one ask? Liked the material so much I bought different style but same material for my wife. I've had it for six months now and wear it often.

Rated 1 out of 5áby DanD4 Looks Good - But Fails
Jacket only keeps moisture our as long the water barrier on the inside of the jacket is intact. Unfortunately, the waterproof material has delaminated on the original purchase and the replacement - each in about a year.

I really love the gold color of my jacket! Unfortunately, that is the only thing I love. I purchased this for a Spring trip to Ireland, because it was lightweight and packed well. Ireland was sunny the whole time I was there, but for one afternoon of misty rain. I was warm and dry, very warm; too warm. I became sweaty and sticky, the sleeve lining stuck to me, uncomfortably. As I loved the color, I thought I could deal with this. Fast forward to the heavy rain we just had in New England, and I thought I was prepared. I made a dash of about 50 yards, and was soaked through. I had to wrestle myself out of the jacket, finally having to exit my car, into a deluge, just to get the darn thing off! I still love the color, and as it is now a sale item, realize this color will be going away, as will my jacket. DARN!

Rated 5 out of 5áby cavesar Nice fit, need to order one size up for layering
Again the LL Bean sizing is getting trimmer. I ordered one size up to fit over an Pathfinder Soft-Shell Jacket/Vest or PrimaLoft Packaway Jacket. And in warm weather I can wear it over a shirt without it being too bulky.
If I was planning to wear over a bulkier top layer I would order two sizes up.
Good thing only the Burnt Orange/Cayenne matches the Soft-Shell Jacket and Vest I already have. If the Green was two tone to match the Soft-Shell Jacket/Vest that are on sale .... "We are going to need a BIGGER gear room."
As I noted about sizing in my review of the Soft-Shell vest - Like much of the LL Bean outerwear the sizing is now "athletic," not sized to wear over a heavier layer. So the Large I ordered fits perfectly over my Medium LL Bean fleece jacket and vest from a couple of years ago. Or my Large PrimaLoft Packaway jacket and vest.
Too bad our big rainy days were just before I got this jacket, I will have to wait and see how "really dry" I stay. But then I always pocket/pack a 30 or 55 gal drum bin liner as a plan E(mergency and vapour barrier) just in case.

Rated 1 out of 5áby RESJR78 Good fit but failed pretty quickly
I bought one of these jackets to replace a Bean Stowaway Goretex jacket that had started to leak. The fit of this jacket was good and the reviews that I read indicated it would be a good waterproof rain jacket. I used it a couple of times on fishing trips in 2014 and it worked pretty well. But during the winter the lining began to crack and fail and when I took it on a fishing trip to Canada this year it leaked like a coarse sieve. This one is going back to Bean for a return as it should not fall apart so quickly.

We bought a set of rain gear well in advance to use on a Grand Canyon rafting trip this past May. Turns out they were expensive and useless. One day we were rafting through a downpour and we were soaked and close to hypothermia as the cold rain soaked right through these and we may as well not have worn them. These might be good for a quick shower but don't depend on these for anything where it is really wet. Just wish I could get my money back!

The TEK2.5 waterproof system may work well, but I did not wear the jacket in the rain to verify. The lining was too hot on bare skin and that's why I deem it uncomfortable. Another person may not have the same problem and that is why I could recommend this item to a friend. I really wanted to keep the jacket for all other reasons, but could not bear the feel of that lining.

Rated 1 out of 5áby MichiganMatt not waterproof
This would be a great rain jacket; if only it was waterproof. I took the Trail Model Rain Jacket backpacking on the Michigan Manistee River Trail. I wore it for a half a day in the rain; the jacket only seemed to repel water for minutes until water was soaked through to my shirt. I have had a lot of LL Bean items over the years; this is the first one I was extremely disappointed with. This jacket should be discontinued and reengineered to meet Bean standards.
