After years of drooling over this tent I convinced my husband to purchase it and new camping equipment instead of staying in a hotel while at a weekend history reenactment. It was spring break and we took our two children along for the weekend. This tent could not have performed any better! We actually purchased this and a competitor's tent (think 3 letters). This was by far the easiest to set up and offered everything we wanted. While camping we had a 30 minute hailstorm and followed by about 12 hours of rain through the night. We were unfortunately on a slab at the campground and water was running all around us. We did not have one drop inside the tent nor was it damaged by the hail. Our beds stayed warm and cozy all night. I did give a 5 but I do make this observation - if I had it to purchase again I would have purchased the 6 person tent for my family of four. The tent fit a queen size air mattress which 3 of us slept on. We could not fit the twin mattress in too. So, one of the kids slept on a camp pad each night which is not a big deal but we would have like to have been able to have everyone on an air mattress. If you are only using sleeping bags and pads you should have enough room though it is still tight. Great tent. Would purchase again. Oh! Make sure you get the footprint. We are headed out again this weekend and can't wait to get the tent set up.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Kaweah Great tent!
We use this tent for car camping, as it's way too heavy to carry very far. It's all it's advertised to be; very spacious, well made, thoughtfully appointed. Fortunately, it comes with directions for set up and has color coded tabs to help keep track of where the poles go. (Nonetheless, at least the first time you pitch it, don't open your beverage of choice until the tent is set up and be careful to patient with your partner.) We really like everything about this tent and are looking forward to using it for a long time. It's nice that the footprint (bought separately) includes the front porch/vestibule area and the designers seemed to know tents well enough to pay attention to every detail.

Rated 5 out of 5áby stitcherny Withstood the storm
I bought this tent (and footprint) several years ago and have been totally happy with everything about it: ease of setup, airflow, space (for 2 people), and rain coverage. Recently we had severe thunderstorms rip through our campground, and we watched from our car as our huge tarp was ripped from its lines and left flapping in the roaring winds. Meanwhile, we watched our tent get buffeted from all directions, billowing and shaking, but never pulling stakes or tie-outs.
When the storm was over and we inspected the tent, there wasn't a single drop of water anywhere inside, and we slept dry and secure in our "port in the storm."

Great tent, easy up and easy down. Not a 4 person tent unless you like it close. Get the ground cover.

I worried I wouldn't be able to assemble this tent by myself. Starting over in life and camping alone for the first time in 30 years, I was afraid this tent was more than I could handle or needed. I was wrong on both counts!
The instructional video was excellent as were the helpful instructions in the bag. The hardest part of assembly alone is getting the fly on. I used a large clip to hold the fly in place in the back while I walked to the front to secure the fly there. The clip worked as an extra pair of hands.
All the other attributes of this tent others have talked about are true. The waterproof sleeping area (I had a storm with 50 mph winds my first night and rain every day after) was so important. The screen room floor (I had a tarp down) was soaked from the water running over the ground and coming in, but the sleeping area stayed dry. Not a single leak from the ceiling or seams.
This tent would rate an A++ in my book if the screen room had a floor also. I could stand comfortably in the tent and appreciated the screen room at night when the mosquitos were so bad.
This tent will accommodate two easily. Four? Probably not!
I joked with people I bought the Taj Mahal of tents. I could have gotten by with a lesser tent, but why? At my age (55), I don't want to go back to the basics. A little luxury - sleeping on a cot instead of the ground - and a screen room, the ability to stand up and construction that lasted through high winds and several thunderstorms is a good thing! Because of the weight, it's definitely a tent for car camping.
Splurge on yourself! Buy this tent and enjoy being outdoors! You only live once!

Love this tent. I bought this tent for the first time 5 years ago to start camping with my boys for cub scouts. This is our second, because we enjoy camping and I want my boys to have their own space. This tent is extremely easy to put up once you realize the easy to see color coding system. May 30, 2014, another women and I put tent up with ease in a few minutes. I've been in thunderstorms and terrential rains where everyone else's tent leaked, and I did not even know it was raining. Always dry and never a worry. The fore room is wonderful for sitting in while it is raining, it's private for an extra changing space, and it keeps all the camp gear dry. Don't hesitate to buy this tent.

This tent had preformed very well for me. It is very easy to setup for as large as it is. It is also tall enough for me to stand in.

I did a lot of research before buying this tent. Purchased it for my daughter and her fiancÚe. it hasn't been tried yet so I can't speak about how it works but I liked the features and especially the LL BEAN guarantee. If they don't like it they can take it back.
I can only rate it as good because I haven't tried it.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Loism Great Tent, Poor Stakes, Bag, Mallet
On our first trip with the tent we had an unexpected storm that proved the strength of the construction in 50 MPH wind gusts over several hours. The first round of wind pulled up most of the stakes which needed to be replaced with metal stakes to hold firmly in the dry California dirt. After that everything held well and all the clips and Velcro connections proved their value.
A floor in the screen room would improve the design a lot because dirt blew in and the dog learned to squeeze under the front, a big pain. I think the closed-up screen room also filled with wind from underneath, like a parachute, and helped pull the plastic stakes out. The guy ropes' sliders did not hold tight in the gusting winds. I reviewed the video and confirmed that they were set up correctly.
We inadvertently tested the tent under pretty extreme conditions and everything held together, after that first exciting lift-off.
I'm getting a real mallet because the one included was useless in the hard, dry dirt. I had to use a rock.
The tent bag is too small. I couldn't get everything back into it, even at home under perfect conditions.
There are lots of zippers and ties and features that are not described in the instructions. I would like to know what they all are and how they work. The setup video helped a lot. A breakdown video would be useful, as well as a video tour of the tent features.
The tent is 5 stars, but I recommend replacing the stakes, bag and mallet.
