After years of drooling over this tent I convinced my husband to purchase it and new camping equipment instead of staying in a hotel while at a weekend history reenactment. It was spring break and we took our two children along for the weekend. This tent could not have performed any better! We actually purchased this and a competitor's tent (think 3 letters). This was by far the easiest to set up and offered everything we wanted. While camping we had a 30 minute hailstorm and followed by about 12 hours of rain through the night. We were unfortunately on a slab at the campground and water was running all around us. We did not have one drop inside the tent nor was it damaged by the hail. Our beds stayed warm and cozy all night. I did give a 5 but I do make this observation - if I had it to purchase again I would have purchased the 6 person tent for my family of four. The tent fit a queen size air mattress which 3 of us slept on. We could not fit the twin mattress in too. So, one of the kids slept on a camp pad each night which is not a big deal but we would have like to have been able to have everyone on an air mattress. If you are only using sleeping bags and pads you should have enough room though it is still tight. Great tent. Would purchase again. Oh! Make sure you get the footprint. We are headed out again this weekend and can't wait to get the tent set up.

I would give it a 4-star rating. Given its price, I expected it be sturdier and waterproof. It is not exactly waterproof. I found water on the bottom of the tent the next morning, though the weather was dry in the previous day. But overall it is a good buy. I bought the King Pine 4-Person HD Dome Tent but it felt like a tent for 2-person rather than 4. 4 people might be able to squeeze into it but it won?t be comfortable at all. Good height, I am 5?7 and I can stand up in the tent without any problem.

I have just spent 2 wks in this tent-fall of the year. It is one of the best tents I have ever owned. The vestibule/ screen in portion works really well for sitting and storage. Yep the dogs learn they can get under it but better that then scratching out the screen. It weathered a rather severe thunderstorm with me staying completely dry .I did purchase the ground cloth as well. I am a 61 yr old woman and found it easy to put up (it does take 2) and fits back in the bag supplied easily. I look forward to many years of use.

Updating my old camping gear , I hesitated on this tent mainly because of the price & I camp alone so set up was a main concern. I wanted room to have some sort of cot/bed since @ 60 yrs, getting up from my knees is becoming a challenge. A gift card/coupon combo made the price right so I bought the 4 person tent. set it up at home first....was a chore until I took the time to read the directions, then it was fine. Went camping the following week & it was approx. 1/2 hr set up.....the rain fly really was no problem ,just awkward. The tent can fit 4, but 3 people in sleeping bags would be just right. I had a cot which left room for one more cot. The screen room was just big enough for my chair...I had bought the foot print which does cover the floor in the screen room. A full door on the front/back,full length pockets on both sides, clips on the ceiling for hanging lights, I even found a way to hang my fly rod to the side of the tent. This is all quality construction....& yes, one person (5'4") can set this up all by themselves.

This is a very well made tent. We were looking for a tent that is good for week or more camping trips and this fits the bill. This tent is heavy but for car camping it is not a problem. We purchased the foot print to protect the bottom of the tent, the footprint includes the screen area. I really wish the tent had an attached floor in the screened part of the tent. This tent has plastic stakes but they seem to be good quality and worked well. I recommend tying cord through the hole in the stakes to help pulling the stakes out. The small hammer is useless we replaced it. Poles for the awning are not included , we used the poles from a canopy we seldom use.
Easy to set up. My husband knee surgery just before the tent arrived so he was not able to help me set up the tent. I was able to set it up without help no problems. It took me 15 minutes to put the tent up by myself. I did clip one side of the rain fly and then pull it over. It was a little tricky taking it down by myself, but I was able to take it down without help.
This is supposed to be a 4 person tent. You could sleep 4 medium sized people with no gear in this tent. We use Themarest Trailpro Mattresses plus we have a 50 pound dog that is not secure if she is not in her camping kennel. It was a tight fit. It is great for 2 people plus gear.
We love the height of the tent and The pockets running down two sided of tent is handy for glasses, flashlights and small items you would like to keep handy. There is loops for adding a gear loft which is not included. The small vestibule on the tent side is great for shoes and we like the versatility of this area.
Some of the reviews mentioned the bag was too small. I did not have a problem getting the tent, poles, stakes, rain fly, footprint, and 2 stake mallets in the bag. It would be wonderful if tent manufactures would include instructions how to put your tent away. I suggest if you have problems getting your tent back in the bag there are several videos on the internet on how to fold your tent.

We use this tent for car camping, as it's way too heavy to carry very far. It's all it's advertised to be; very spacious, well made, thoughtfully appointed. Fortunately, it comes with directions for set up and has color coded tabs to help keep track of where the poles go. (Nonetheless, at least the first time you pitch it, don't open your beverage of choice until the tent is set up and be careful to patient with your partner.) We really like everything about this tent and are looking forward to using it for a long time. It's nice that the footprint (bought separately) includes the front porch/vestibule area and the designers seemed to know tents well enough to pay attention to every detail.

Rated 5 out of 5 by stitcherny Withstood the storm
I bought this tent (and footprint) several years ago and have been totally happy with everything about it: ease of setup, airflow, space (for 2 people), and rain coverage. Recently we had severe thunderstorms rip through our campground, and we watched from our car as our huge tarp was ripped from its lines and left flapping in the roaring winds. Meanwhile, we watched our tent get buffeted from all directions, billowing and shaking, but never pulling stakes or tie-outs.
When the storm was over and we inspected the tent, there wasn't a single drop of water anywhere inside, and we slept dry and secure in our "port in the storm."

Great tent, easy up and easy down. Not a 4 person tent unless you like it close. Get the ground cover.

I worried I wouldn't be able to assemble this tent by myself. Starting over in life and camping alone for the first time in 30 years, I was afraid this tent was more than I could handle or needed. I was wrong on both counts!
The instructional video was excellent as were the helpful instructions in the bag. The hardest part of assembly alone is getting the fly on. I used a large clip to hold the fly in place in the back while I walked to the front to secure the fly there. The clip worked as an extra pair of hands.
All the other attributes of this tent others have talked about are true. The waterproof sleeping area (I had a storm with 50 mph winds my first night and rain every day after) was so important. The screen room floor (I had a tarp down) was soaked from the water running over the ground and coming in, but the sleeping area stayed dry. Not a single leak from the ceiling or seams.
This tent would rate an A++ in my book if the screen room had a floor also. I could stand comfortably in the tent and appreciated the screen room at night when the mosquitos were so bad.
This tent will accommodate two easily. Four? Probably not!
I joked with people I bought the Taj Mahal of tents. I could have gotten by with a lesser tent, but why? At my age (55), I don't want to go back to the basics. A little luxury - sleeping on a cot instead of the ground - and a screen room, the ability to stand up and construction that lasted through high winds and several thunderstorms is a good thing! Because of the weight, it's definitely a tent for car camping.
Splurge on yourself! Buy this tent and enjoy being outdoors! You only live once!

Love this tent. I bought this tent for the first time 5 years ago to start camping with my boys for cub scouts. This is our second, because we enjoy camping and I want my boys to have their own space. This tent is extremely easy to put up once you realize the easy to see color coding system. May 30, 2014, another women and I put tent up with ease in a few minutes. I've been in thunderstorms and terrential rains where everyone else's tent leaked, and I did not even know it was raining. Always dry and never a worry. The fore room is wonderful for sitting in while it is raining, it's private for an extra changing space, and it keeps all the camp gear dry. Don't hesitate to buy this tent.
