Rated 5 out of 5 by BobbyEarlJr Great Tent, Tight for 6
Very nice tent of high quality materials. Seams are all strong and solid. Poles are strong and flexible and I really like the screen porch. Like most tents that say "Sleeps 6", you better really like your sleeping partners if there are indeed 6 in the tent.

I love the tent so far!! My nephews (13 & 7 yrs) & I had a great weekend using it. It took us about an hour to put up, but considering we were rookies, that was expected. I think the instructions could have been a bit more clear, included more step-by-step pictures perhaps, to accommodate novices, which would have shortened our assembly time. I read reviews before purchasing, and agree, it really is a 4 person tent, unless you don't mind extreme closeness or don't plan to do anything other than sleep in the tent. It would also be helpful to have instructions on how to best keep the tent clean, how to best disassemble and get it back into the storage bag/duffle, etc. It was definitely nice to be able to stand inside the tent and I LOVED the pockets all around inside. I also purchased the footprint recommended and did not have any issues with wetness I had experienced using other tents in the past. The hooks included in the centers were great for hanging lanterns. One other issue I've had with other tents were zippers that snagged or ripped after only a few uses . . . this tent gave me no cause for concern, even with rambunctious boys going in and out all weekend long!

Rated 3 out of 5 by rodnsharon but overall a good tent...
i used the tent for two weeks in oregon for the first time...great weather for the most part, so i can't comment on wind or rain...overall, it's a good tent...tent set up can be done with one, but the fly is easier with two...about 20 minutes going up once you've done it a couple of times, a little less coming down and packed...i think it would be strong in wind, and the fly covers the tent completely, so that is a good point...due to the dome construction, you lose headroom around the perimeter of the tent...we had a queen mattress set up, so when you got out of bed on the side, you really couldn't come even close to standing up completely (both of us are 5'10")...not a complaint for me, but a major problem for my significant other...the porch area has mesh sides, but the solid covers for it are part of the fly...this was not easy to see (for me) in the description or pics...you can actually get into this tent from either end, and the end opening on the main room has an awning setup in the fly which is a nice touch...when you set it up, it's not tall enough to stand under, and no matter how you stretch it, it has a center pocket that would collect water in the rain...but if you set it up low, like a window awning for ventilation, it was excellent... my real disappointment for a tent like this, especially at this price, was the plastic stakes...i've used them before, and i just don't like them..in hard ground they're useless...and in sand they're too short...the "hammer" included is round tubing on a short rod with a flat piece for the face...no weight and maybe only good for sand - just chuck it, save the space, and use your own...
also, if you buy this tent, get the footprint ground cover for it...i hesitated on that, but i'm glad i did...it's very convenient, hooks up to the stake-down loops, and stays in place during setup...if you're a "trencher" like i am for rain, this tarp seems to be the correct size to allow you to do that...
my reason for a 3 rating? general quality is "good", perimeter headroom, no side covers for porch (think privacy) unless using the fly, plastic stakes and hammer...all this considered against the price...so, it's over-priced to me, but it's still a good tent in a lot of ways...i'll be going to a box style tent to pick up the headroom around the perimeter...

Rated 5 out of 5 by Curiouskdb Best Test for a Family of 4
We bought this tent for our Labor Day camping trip to replace 2 other tents we had, cause we are a family of 4 and didn't want to continue to split up. We loved this tent. It's spacious, its waterproof, its really easy to put up (we did watch the video) with all the color coding. It has pockets, hooks on the ceilings for lanterns, tons of rooms of our gear, can be one room or one giant room. The first night we slept all in the main tent and were quite comfortable and in fact we slept until 8am (unheard of for camping as far as I was concerned - not sure if that was the tent or the campground). The second night, 3 of us slept in the main tent and my husband slept in the porch area. It poured, and poured, and poured and we stayed completely dry and comfortable - even my husband in the porch area. The tent isn't small, but I'm not sure I would sleep 6 people all in the same main compartment. My kids are movers while sleeping and I can see someone getting kicked in the face. But this tent is perfect for us and all our stuff. While it rained we were able to play games inside, my daughter read for hours there. It was pretty easy to clean up, we brought it home and washed all the mud off of it and let it air dry in our garage. We did also purchase the bottom footprint, which I think is a must.

My husband and I just got back from a week in the Adirondacks. We were very pleased with the King Pine Dome tent 6 man.
The color coded straps help a lot in set up.Each corner has the same color as the fly that goes over the tent. It is very airy inside with the back screen door.
We were glad we had bought the footprint ground cloth. That gives you a floor in the screened area. It took us 15-20mins to set up.

Just finished our first trip with the King Pine Dome HD 6-Person tent. Great purchase. High quality product with much attention to detail. Really like the second "mesh" room that can easily hold two chairs while the rain blows over or the bugs decide to invade your camp. Did quite a bit of research on other brands and there are some very good competitive products out there. Deciding factor for us was the second "mesh" room, large main tent area (6 footers can stand up) and the LL Bean guarantee. First set up took about 30 minutes for two grandparents. Expect next time to take about 15-20 minutes. Only flaw for us was noticing 3-4 ends of the main tent poles had (slightly) bent as we were taking down the tent. Called LLBean and spoke with a technical rep. His first question was "was the weather hot?" We had had record heat during the trip. He mentioned the slight bending should not be an issue . . . and if it ever does become an issue to send back. This is why I will continue to purchase quality products from this great company! Most of our camping will be just the two of us and the tent area is huge (we use two large sleeping mattresses). The mesh extra room easily could handle another two individuals. Recommend you also purchase footprint (covers the tent and mesh room areas).

I recently went my first camping trip since purchasing the King Pine Dome Tent and I have to say it passed with flying colors. It is easy and intuitive to set up (despite needing to use 10 poles!) and very functional. The screen room acted as a great enclosed but airy space to escape mother nature but still feel a part of it.
The main cabin is spacious and tall enough to easily stand in. It felt private when everything was zippered and aired out nicely when just the screens were kept closed. The pockets lining each side of the room were extremely handy for keeping things off the floor and organized. It was more than spacious enough for just my wife and I and our bags of clothes and other items. The tent is supposedly designed for 6 people, however I think a good general rule for a tent is to subtract 2 from the number of people it claims to be for - so I think that only 4 people could fit in this comfortably. I also feel they could have added poles to make the sides less slanted to give more head space near the sides of the room.
The screen room was great. With the sides of the rain fly pulled back and the screen to the main room open it felt very airy and right. It felt like both a natural extension of the main room and a good transition from the outside. It was a great refuge when the bugs came out. I could easily see 4 people sitting around a camp table playing games waiting out either bugs or the rain. Plus it would be great for kids during inclement weather because they won't feel cooped up as if they were in a normal tent. Here, the sides also could have been more vertical to make more room. There are small flaps that line the bottoms of the sides of the screen room to help keep bugs from coming in under the walls. I think they can improve these by weighing them down to keep them in place.
Overall I recommend this tent highly.
